Wrestlezone.com came in with another poll. The fans decided the top 10 finishers ever.

-------------

10) Ric Flair - Figure Four Leg Lock
Over the course of Flair’s storied 35 year career, there has been one major constant – the figure four. How many epic, 45 minute classics ended with a submission smack in the middle of the ring? It only reached #10 because of its unsureness over the last few years.

9) Power & Glory – The PowerPlex
Power & Glory was one of the very first of many tag teams to be formed from fledgling solo performers, in this case Hercules and Paul Roma. Wrestling history!

8) The Undertaker – Tombstone Piledriver
When I think of The Undertaker pinning his opponent with his eyes rolled back, that can only be the result of one thing - the tombstone piledriver. It has always been a 100% game ender.

7) DDP / Randy Orton – Diamond Cutter / RKO
"I think what makes this move so cool is that it can be pulled off anytime, anywhere, at any juncture in the match – when winning, when losing, pre-meditated, or out of the blue. It blends lightning fast quickness, the element of surprise, and yet is still a power hold. In turn, it has lead to some of the most exciting, unpredictable finishes in all of wrestling. Additionally, the move somehow fit the slyness of both DDP and Orton’s characters."

- writes Eric Stein

6) Mankind – The Mandible Claw (Mr. Socko!)
The overall effect was creepy, bizarre, and utterly awesome. Spewing foam from the mouth!

5) Stone Cold Steve Austin – Stone Cold Stunner
Completely speaks for itself. Who hasn’t been the recipient of this move? The Rock, Chyna, Triple H, John Cena, The Big Show, Kane, Undertaker, HBK, Bret Hart, Vince McMahon, hell even Linda McMahon.

4) Petey Williams - The Canadian Destroyer
It speaks for itself! A 360º PileDriver! It take amazing athleticism to pull off.

3) Shawn Michaels – Sweet Chin Music
Shawn kicking Marty through the Barber Shop window was one of the two single greatest heel turns of all time. For 20 years it has cemented its lightning strike as a finisher.

2) Bob Backlund – Crossface Chicken Wing
Perfect blend of character. Every time Backlund would look at his hands afterwards as if he was amazed at his own strength.

THE BEST FINISHER OF ALL-TIME...

1) Hulk Hogan – Leg Drop
What can I say? The simplest, crappiest move on this entire list is in fact the greatest finisher of all-time. Hulk Hogan and his leg drop single-handedly made the business what it is today. …FLAME AWAY!

That list is crap. The Canadian Destoryer isn't that great when you conisder Murdoch can do it.

Also, as far as devistating match end power, where is Bigshow Chokeslam and Nash's Jackknife Lazybomb?

Also the RKO sucks compared to the Diamond Cutter. I think it is great than DDP was twice the age Orton is now and can hit the move from more angles than orton. Orton made the move into a stalking move, when it is a sudden strike move.

I don't see how the stunner could not be number 1 on any list. It's the most over move ever. It's the only single move in the history of wrestling that IN ITSELF was a draw. People wanted to see people get stunned, not just see Stone Cold. No matter who you were, the most over guys on the roster could get stunned and the crowd would eat it up. DX, Mankind, it didn't matter. You could put babyface Jesus Christ out there and have stone cold stun him and the crowd would love every minute of it. They would even throw the roster at him for him to stun at the end of the night just to please the crowd and send them home happy.

That and the stunner is a perfect finishing move, it can be applied to anyone, looks like it ends the match, it can come out of anywhere, and it can be done a 1000 times in a day without killing Austin.

That list blows. Fuck the crossface chickenwing, it's not even the best submission hold performed in a standing-behind position. That's dumb, the fans who voted it that high are dumb as well.

Alright, what about Jake's DDT? It's not the absolute best finisher of all time, since by today's standards it's just a normal wrestling move, but back in the day if Jake hit the DDT, you KNEW it was over. It's simple, but effective. Hell, the guy comes back on Raw a few years ago and people still chant DDT, even though over the years we've been witness to an amazing amount of mega-turds using that same move.

I think these lists are all missing one important move: The STFU.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the F-5.

Maybe not the best move EVER (well, in the top 3 for me) but at least top ten.

Londoner
03-07-2008, 05:11 PM
I can't believe i forgot about the F-5 tbh. I'll put it in 5th place instead of the peoples elbow then. Fuck that move.(ppls elbow i mean)

F-5 is severe awesomeness. I still use it in SVR games for my buddy's CAW. He lives in North Carolina now, but I keep him in to fill out my stable. It's such an awesome move.

wtf is a PowerPLex?

It was Power and Glory's move in WWF. You're going to think it's dumb by today's standards considering all the crazy shit that people do now. Back then, it was the man.

Hercules superplexes wrestler "x" off the top rope and at the same time he comes down, Paul Roma leaps off the turnbuckle to the left of him and hits a splash for the pin. Remember this is back in 90/91

This list is fine, but it needs to include the Superkick and the Pedigree.

Vastardikai

My list...

10. Vader's Powerbomb
9. Jawbreaker Lariat
8. Oklahoma (or Okrahoma, as they say in Japan) Stampede
7. 3-D
6. Death Valley(Spicolli) Driver
5. Liontamer
4. Stone Cold Stunner
3. Burning Hammer
2. Doomsday Device
1. Tombstone

And for the person who bitched about the Crossface Chickenwing, that hold is a BITCH. Also, never underestimate the talent of a man trained by Harley Race...

4) Petey Williams - The Canadian Destroyer

Oh my God

It's a move that looks incredibly fake due to the amount of effort and athleticism needed to pull it off...by the other worker.
