Rey has a couple of new moves, but nothing spectacular as of yet. Jindrak has an awesome finisher, but because of the big 'Smackdown vs Raw' that flashes on the screen, you dont get to see much. Its a back suplex into a powerbomb type thing. (If that makes any sence)

August 12, 2004 - The 4000 grappling fans lucky enough to take part in Sony Computer Entertainment's online beta test for WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW received some disheartening news today as it was revealed that the process has been delayed for a week. The official drop date for eligible testers is now next Friday, August 20.

Maybe they realized that the roster was lacking so many worthy names (including 5 champions as well as one of the biggest names on Raw now) and included so many non-worthy guys that fans would get disappointed so they just decided to get it over with. :-\

My roster ends up being mostly CAWs anyway. The confirmed roster just saves me from having to create a few people like Orton and Jericho.

They didn't really have much to work with this year though as far as fire power. I mean, with guys like Brock and Berg gone (two drawing points for the last game) and guys like Big Show out, and several talents released, they are going to have to rely on legends a bit to sale the game. I mean to the average fan, La Resistance, and Billy Kidman aren't huge drawing points

I only have used my created guy in season mode too. And I've played through it about 8 times. I have a problem with losing though where I have to win all the time. So I always have all the Belts. That's why I never use anybody else in season except my created guy because I would probably lose a match. It's like a sickness I have.

Like today I was playing Fifa 2002 for Gamecube and I was in a World Cup mode. I was playin Brazil and was down 3-1 with like 3 min left and if I didn't win I was out. So I switched sides and became BRAZIL and I kept passing the ball to the goalkeeper and leting him score an own goal. Did that 3 times and then switched back and won 4-3. Pretty sick.

I don't blame the makers for not putting in Eugene, I mean, if I was in their shoes, I'll have a hard time deciding what his finishing moves would be.

August 17, 2004 - THQ's WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW has definitely been one of the most popular games of the summer here on IGNPS2, with fans from all over the world clamoring to find out the latest information on it. And whether it's the fresh game modes, original feature sets, or brand new wrestlers that they're curious about, IGN readers just can't seem to get enough of Yuke's latest grappling hopeful. With that in mind, we're happy to announce that today we've confirmed the final lineup of wrestlers for SmackDown! vs. RAW with the most prominent superstar being that of the Excellence of Execution himself, Bret "The Hitman" Hart has made the cut.

This announcement marks the first time in SmackDown's history that Bret Hart will make an appearance in the franchise. Previously confirmed to materialize in the GameCube's own wrestling title, WWE Day of Reckoning, Bret Hart is considered by hardcore wrestling fans to be the greatest score possible for the upcoming legends. And when you take into consideration that Andre the Giant, The Undertaker, and Kane are already those counted prestigious enough to be a part of that roster, it tells you just how important Bret Hart's appearance really is.
Contrary to reports made by European magazines earlier this month, however, Bret Hart's late brother-in-law Davey Boy Smith did not make it into the game. Though his selection was considered at one time, negotiations fell through and "The British Bulldog" was left off the final lineup. Luckily, several other wrestlers did manage to make the roster. But in a revelation that is sure to surprise players who have been following the game's progress, no new names will be added other than what we've already confirmed. Even more interesting is the fact that Rikishi has been removed because of his loss of employment with the WWE, while Sable (who was also recently let go) will remain.

Now some of you may be wondering why the lineup is smaller than the roster found in last year's Here Comes the Pain, but THQ has explained to us that the lineup cut came with good reason. That reason, of course, is the fact that this year's production values have been amped up. And with 40% more polygons, increased texture detail, bigger models, and full voice-over for each superstar, there just wasn't enough time or room to fit more superstars in. Of course, this doesn't rule out the possibility of more wrestlers in next year's lineup using the same feature set, but for this year's edition, the grapplers listed above will have to do you.

Luckily, there are actually more legends than the ones we've highlighted above; but as a special favor to the team, we're going to officially reveal the remaining six over the course of the next two days to keep readers curious as the week comes to a close. So be sure and check back with us over the next couple days to get the skinny on that.

I'm with the people who said they'd rather see fewer legends and more active wrestlers.

I, for one, play as everyone, and the fact that nearly half of the WWE champions are out, while I get to play as a guy who'll likely never wrestle again or a gimmick that Kane will never return to doesn't appeal to me at all.

This is the first SmackDown game since JBI that I haven't been drooling over. I'm excited to play it, but I may not even buy it right away unless the game play and story mode are excellent. With limited CAW slots, I don't want to be wasting them on freaking champions. If I want legends, I'll make them myself. If they include the classic music, I'll be a little bit appeased, but if they're going to include these guys and have them come to the ring silently (like in HCTP)? To hell with that. I'll just keep playing HCTP.

I'd much rather spend a CAW slot on someone like Billy Gunn or Hardcore Holly that I'm not all that bothered about having look and behave perfectly than on the Cruiserweight Champion.

Ok. Never have I ever been disappointed with a Smackdown game, but I'm with Vito with this roster. It leaves me excited but disappointed too. La Resistance have been in the WWE for about 2 years now, and are tag team champions, but still have not made this game.

The choices they have made for the roster this year have been pretty crap ones. I haven't seen Cade since Coach's feud with Eugene, cant remember when I last saw Jindrak/A-Train/Scotty 2 Hotty.

Like many have said, alot of the champions aren't in. What they going to do with those belts? Give them to random people? Or maybe the last champs? In HCTP, I dont think I have played with a Crusierweight apart from Rey Mysterio, so I'm not bothered by Spike's absence.

But not having either of the tag team champions in, is abit crazy. I would have played with Kidman/London if they were in, and I certainly would have used La Resistance.

To each there own I guess. I'd rather have no voice for wrestlers and more wrestlers though. They said that was one of the reasons they couldn't have more guys. But with that said, there are soooo many more features then the last game. Someone posted a long list on Game Faq's tryinh to appease the people who were complaning about the roster. It was a pretty big list and makes you see all the new stuff we are getting. Plus Online mode might be in. I'll go find the thread and post it here in a sec.

As for me and the roster. As soon as I make my CAW, (JesPac) that's all I usually play with. I might go through each guy once just to see entrances and everything. After that my CAW, Orton, Cena, Bret, Andre, Benoit, Angle, Guerrero, Kane and HHH are the guys I will probably always use.

Yeah, that's it :y: I'm going to have some much fun playing as a heel with that new system. I pretend I'm a real heel in HCTP all the time with ny CAW. Like I take the padding off the turnbuckle, I'll go outside the ring then pull the ref's feet then grab the ref and bounce his head off the ropes and knock him out. Then I'll get a chair and beat the shit out of my opponent. I always attack my opponent after the match. Love being a heel.

Now I get rewarded for this shit. Sweet.

The longer matches and the ability to defend belts in exhibition matches are enough to keep me happy. The only other thing that still hasn't been implemented is the ability to change the looks of current superstars. One thing that made the n64 games have such a high replay value was the ability to keep the premade roster up to date. I guess the reason they can't do that with the Smackdown series has to do with the quality of renderings and such between the premade guys and the CAW guys.

I'm also in the list of people that would rather have more wrestlers than all the extra audio stuff. The licensed themes are a great addition, but as far as commentary is concerned, I'm just going to turn it off anyway. No matter how much stuff they record it will get repetitive after a while anyway. I may play with it on for a week or so, but not too much more.

I can't remember how many it was for HCTP, I'm thinking 30. I always had my CAW slots maxed out on No Mercy because they were so easy to make. The HCTP CAWs took for ever, it was very discouraging.

3 new legend confirmed right now with pics

As we're sure our readers remember from yesterday's update, THQ revealed its final superstar roster exclusively to IGN for its upcoming WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW; with the only exception being the remaining legends. And though Bret Hart, Andre the Giant, Legend Kane, and Legend Undertaker were already confirmed in yesterday's article, there were still seven more characters left to be announced (not six, like we originally believed). As promised, however, we're set to reveal three more of those legends for today.

Now as many of you probably suspected, two of today's three legends have returned from last year's Here Comes the Pain. The Hot Rod himself, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka will once again don their tights and stroll to the ring to do business in a way they only know how. And as you can tell from the screens provided, the little mini-rings that they were forced to enter with last year have been completely eliminated (though there's no word yet on whether or not they'll have official music or TitanTrons). Interestingly enough, this year's Piper will be from the late '80s/early '90s -- when he wrestled with long hair.

New to the lineup and fresh off his appearance in WWE Day of Reckoning is Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake. Complete with his oversized gardening sheers and unbelievable "power mullet", Beefcake harkens back to a day when gimmicks and mic skills were the more important to the business than anything else. But for those doubters out there, just remember that Beefcake and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine once formed one of the most dominate heel teams of the early '80s; too bad Valentine isn't in the game to relive it.

After spending the entire week building up the anticipation for the final roster of WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW, we've finally come to an end; as today marks the day we reveal the final four legends in the game's hotly debated lineup. And what a great way to lead into tonight's SmackDown! broadcast too -- as the final confirmed superstar roster was unveiled on Tuesday with the first seven legends revealed over the following days, it only seems fitting to bookend that coverage prior to tonight's televised event.

So what final four legends have made the grade you ask? How about two of the most popular tag teams in the last two decades? The first duo, Hawk and Animal, were renowned all over the world as the Road Warriors (and the Legion of Doom) and dominated the NWA, AWA, Japan, and the WWF throughout the 80s and 90s. They're still considered to this day to be the single greatest tag team ever assembled, and with the passing of Hawk last year, hold a special place in people's hearts.
The second team and final two members of the SmackDown! vs. RAW roster is everyone's favorite odd couple, The Rock 'n Sock Connection. Comprised of former heavyweight champions (and WrestleMania XX losers) Mankind and The Rock, the Rock 'n Sock Connection is a team several of our readers had been hoping to see the moment we announced this week's roster revelation. Of course, players don't have to use the dynamic duo as a pair if they don't want to; but it's unknown whether or not Mankind's other personas (Mick Foley, Cactus Jack, Dude Love) will be available as alternate costumes. We'll just have to wait and see to find out.

And so ends the final shroud of secrecy. Listed below is the complete and final roster of SmackDown! vs. RAW that fans can expect to see this November:

You sign an agreement just by agreeing to be in the beta. In the FFXI beta, you had to press a certain combination of buttons to get a screen shot taken and it would take away the hud and put a copyright and everything on there. If they give you something like that, you're fine. If not, don't take pictures. They will get information on it when they get the game.

Hmmm... Just noticed that Hurricane's not on this year's roster. I never played him, but it was fun to have a few oddball characters to beat up. And where's Jamie Noble? Former cruiserweight champ (and they never fail to mention that fact every Smackdown), and still he's yet to make it on a video game roster. Strange that the WWE now boasts two full rosters and the lineup seems to get smaller every year.

I still think the WWE would do best to let the Legends have their own WWE-licesnced videogame. Twice the profit, and all that.

EGM: It's called Smackdown! vs. Raw, so can I assume the two shows are gonna play a major factor in the story mode? If so, how?
Cory Ledesma, Associate Producer: The showdown between the two brands will be a major theme in all aspects of the game including Season mode, front end menus, voice over and gameplay. As far as storylines goes, without giving away too much, there will definitely be clashes between the two brands that will result in epic battles.

EGM: Are you bringing back WWE writers to create original storylines again?

Ledesma: We work closely with the WWE and their writers to find out what directions they are taking with their Superstars and their storylines. This definitely serves as the underline foundation for what we do. The emphasis has been put on creating storylines that are completely original as well as putting our own spin on some past great WWE storylines. This unique blend of storylines will satisfy WWE fans while delivering a compelling and rewarding experience.

EGM: Online -- it's gonna make it into this version, right?

Ledesma: It is being strongly considered.

EGM: What's the real focus of this year's game? What distinguishes it from last year's product and the rest of the competition?

Ledesma: Our focus this year has been a major undertaking. We are completely overhauling the key areas of the game including gameplay, Season mode, graphics and audio. Detailed features for each of the game areas will be announced shortly. We are very excited about SmackDown Vs. Raw. It is the biggest leap we have made from one year to another.

EGM: Any other T&A besides the bra and panty matches?

Ledesma: Pushing the T&A factor is one of the big focuses for this year. Our goal is to increase the overall sex appeal and quality of our Diva models as well as their sexy animations. We want our consumers to get really excited about seeing and playing with our Divas. The increased Sex Factor will be apparent from when the game boots up, to the new Diva Spanking mechanic in Bra and Panty matches and all the way to storylines rewarding you with scoring with the Divas. Also, additional "T&A" elements will be rewarded this year to users in the form of unlockables.

EGM: How many wrestlers total? Any more wrestling legends?

Ledesma: WWE SmackDown Vs. Raw will have a roster of over 45 WWE Superstars from both the Raw and SmackDown brands. There will also be some of the biggest legend names to unlock.
