View Full Version : Money In The Bank Idea

Just had an epiphany, ok, say the match is like normally done, but the case is off to one side of the ring, hanging on the side farthest from the ramp (so sick bumps to announcers tables can be done) on the other side, from high up in the rafters, dangles the IC title.
You have a choice
The IC title
Or
A "chance" at Immortality.
Thoughts people.

At that point, why not just say "If you win the case, you win the IC title too"?

The MITB briefcase oppurtunity itself represents what the IC title once did

I should have mentioned, that after you choose your out of the match.

That's not a bad concept, but it's entering into Russo areas of two winners for one match, choices, confusion, and the like. I think it would be better if MVP manned-up, and said he was so sure he'd win Money in the Bank, that he was including the United States Championship in the briefcase package. Chris Jericho then says "well, I'm doing the same thing with the IC Title." So you end up having the match for the title shot, the IC Title and the US Title. That's three prizes for winning, which might be a little much, but I think he MITB winners of past really could have benefitted with two secondary title wins on their path to the World Title, anyway.

I think that enters TNA's recent dealy with Angle and all the titles.

Perhaps, but I think it would be more like Kurt Angle in the WWE as Euro-Continental Champion, or Chris Jericho walking around with two belts. The biggest problem with Angle being X-Division Champion and TNA World Tag Team Champion while he was TNA World Heavyweight Champion, was because he didn't need the belts. Plus, he was a one-man tag team. Putting secondary singles titles on a rising star makes a little more sense.
Could still end up messy if the WWE doesn't book both belts right with one champion going forth between the brands with them, though.

Why would anyone take a shot at the WWE title over the IC title?
So the big pop will be for whoever gets the briefcase, then we have to watch and wait for someone to win 2nd prize?
Sounds dumb
I’ll give Jarrett a call and tell him it’s next Thursday’s impact main event

That'd be my biggest concern about it, too. I mean, the idea is good in theory. While the guys are out there, you might as well throw them together for the IC Title, but you have to take how the crowd is going to react into account, too. No one should go for the IC Title over the title shot, because the title shot is pretty much guaranteed to lead to a win. You can pretty much drug your opponent, push them down several flights of stairs, run over them with your car, then throw them in the ring, cash in your shot, and win a World Title.
Granted, you'd probably have to face criminal charges afterwards, but the idea of MITB should be changed to more of a "sure thing." The only way I think the IC Title could be brought in as a seperate prize, is if the Ladder Match were Two Fall; or if you had a pinfall/submission based fall going on at the same time, which would just be messy.

Think about it, would you risk an IC title reign for 1 shot at the WWE title?

Yes, of course!
It’s a gamble
Like leaving a job you love and that you are good at (the IC title) for a job that pays more money, but has more responsibility and stress (world title) the pay off potential would be worth it

Dave youell actually said what i was gonna say. Just wouldn't work cause the ic title would get ignored. Only way i could see this working is if you make it in two seperate matches, the first match you go after the briefcase then the 2nd match is for the ic title. One positive is it means for once that the ic title is defended at wm.

This thread was cooler when the title was "many in the bank."

I wouldn't mind a "One Fall to a Finish Match" with all the competitors in Money in the Bank at WrestleMania, and then have the Ladder Match as a sequel to that.
