Best Trainers?

Who do you think the best trainers are?

I'm going to go with Shawn Micheals and Afa Anoa'i. They have produced some of the best of the current works. Then Stu Hart...well Stu only has one star pupil still wrestling.

A lot of that would have to do with era, and a lot of his trainees murdering their families and killing themselves.

I'd agree with Shawn Michaels. Who has Afa trained? I think he was responsible for John Cena, Batista and maybe The Miz, but has he trained anyone good? I kid...sorta.

Finlay would be a fantastic guy to learn from. CM Punk, Chris Hero, Trish Stratus, Jillian Hall and Batista would probably all agree. I'd love to learn from William Regal, too. Add Dave Taylor to the mix, and just group them as the Blue Bloods.

Dean Malenko is pretty good, too. He trained Jamie Noble, Kane and Molly Holly.

Afa has trained Batista, Cena and Miz, like you said, but is also responsible for Virgil, Kanyon, Billy Kidman, Rikishi, Cheerleader Melissa, Rosey, Umaga, Yokozuna, and a few others.

I've heard good things about Harley Race's school. Also for learning the lucha style Mike Quackenbush would be one of the best guys to learn from.

Good knowledge. None of the three guys I mentioned are horrible, by the way. All three are underrated as far as their wrestling skills go (but at least two of them are overrated by the WWE).

I think Afa makes a good "base trainer." You go to him, pick up the fundamentals, and get into "wrestler mode." Then you go elsewhere and really learn a style, and build on top of what Afa taught you.

I could have things completely wrongly assessed, though.

But to be honest, Batista have been trained by like a million people. If you read his book, he get trained by Afa, then WWE picks him up and has Benoit, Dave Taylor, and Finaly work on him for a few months for wrestling along. Plus not to meantion HHH, Ric Flair, Cornette, and D-Von Dudley all had heavy hands in grooming him. I do respect everything Bats has accomplished and how hard he has worked to get where he is. I still don't like him.

I would say the best training right now is any WWE development territory like FCW, or OVW a few months ago. When Batista went to OVW he had an amazing look but was so shit in the ring it was unbearable. Also think about guys whose prior work you may have seen then were sent to OVW and made like ten times better, CM Punk, Miz, Morrison, Big Show, Matt Capotelli (sp?) just to name a few.

But other than WWE sponsored training I would think the best place would be ROH's training camp. If for nothing else then just the simple fact that you will get a job out of it if you have talent. And if not you've still be trained by the likes of Brian Danielson and a lot of other progressive style wrestlers with tons of experience and knowledge.

I would love to train with Lance Storm. Bret Sent his kid there, so that is something. He just started, so Im hoping in a few years some of his guys break out. He did great work as a WWE trainer.

I did look into his pricing, but couldn’t afford it with travel, but if money was no object I’d love to go there and spend a week with the guy.

If I could get trained by anyone it would be Johnny Saint, loved that guys stuff.

If I were to choose people who I would love to train with/pick their brains it would be HBK, Regal, Finlay, Storm and Quackenbush. All so extremely knowledgeable. I think these are the best guys out there to train with. Also you can't leave Afa out based on the talent he has brought in and how big they have become.

Johnny Saint? The World of Sport guy in black trunks? I've seen some of his matches, massive ammounts of energy, and really great to watch in the ring. Learning from hi would be awesome.

Just because a bunch of people came from a certain school, that doesn't mean one person trained them. Shawn Michaels didn't train his guys (he did stuff but wasn't the main trainer) and Stu Hart trained none of the top stars from the Hart camp in the last 20 years.
