Supernatural's Jared Padalecki won't be straying too far from his shtick as a demon hunter in his new role: star of the remake of Friday the 13th. Padalecki will play a man investigating the grisly murders of hockey-mask-wearing psycho Jason Vorhees at Camp Crystal Lake. The movie is scheduled for release in February 2009.

Michael Bay needs to die. No "ifs" or "buts," he needs to die.

Jared Padalecki is pretty cool. Too bad Jensen Ackles isn't in it. The ultimate hunt.

I hate 80's fashion. And seeing people who wear such abominations hacked to bits, was my only interest in this series.
So I won't be watching a modern day remake.

Why?
Not saying he is amazing or anything, but his movies ar fun for what they are.

Well with Micheal Bay producing...
Something will blow up.
Michael Bay should make a movie called There Will Be Explosions.

I think Bay could make a pretty decent remake. I loved his remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so hey...you never know. Being a horror buff, I'll give it a look.

I'll wait until the concept truly comes to light. So far I'm hearing not a remake but a midquel of sorts set between 3 and 4.

I'm vaguely interested. The Texas Chainsaw remake was interesting enough to get me curious about this.
Dunno why people are so up in arms about this. Not like they're remaking The Godfather (yet). It's fucking Friday The 13th. None of these flicks are cinematic gems that can't be touched.

yea, Texas Chainsaw was actually a great remake. but seriously, this is old already.
I'm actually waiting for more of these movies that parody other movies to come out. I can't go without a new one coming out at least once a month.

Same DP and director did TCM remake that did the original..
I didn't like that remake cause of the amount of gore.. Not that I don't like gore but that the original wasn't gorey at all..
Also they got away from the whole based on actual events thing too..
p.s. that DP is a dick too.. I worked for him on a movie one time..

I'm shocked that they didnt make the campimg grounds to be a secret terrorist camp, which is then destroyed by an American Flag waving Jason...

Jason will find out he is secretly a clone in a fake Crytal Lake, in case the Real jason needs parts.
Then he will transform into a Giant Machete and Kill people, then Martin Lawrence will show up and hilarity will ensue.
I should be a writer.

And then Hulk Hogan will Hulk Up and destroy the Giant Machine. And then he gets into his yellow Camaro and drives off into the sunset only for it to morph into Bumblebee.

I read that this is basically going to be the first 3 films rolled into one. That's a lot of ground to cover isn't it?
I think they would have been better off making Freddy vs Jason vs Ash based off of the comic book series of the same name. I read the basic plot outline on Wikipedia and it was actually put together pretty well. The thing with horror movies like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street is that nobody takes them seriously to begin with, so the addition of Ash really fit in well with the overall feel of the films.

Then Bumblebee crashes into a tree and puts some guy into a coma. then the Shamalyan twist shows it was God at work the whole time.
