View Full Version : Batman Villains

Heros Welcome

With The Dark Knight coming out soon, I may be getting a little ahead of myself but I felt like making a thread and this has been on my mind for the past week or so.

With The Joker being the main attraction for The Dark Knight and Harvey Dent most likely becoming Two Face before the end credits roll, I wanted to get an idea on who else they would like to see enter as a villain in the batman series. With Nolan on board to do 3 films, I believe, who would you like to enter next to Two Face in the 3rd installment, if anyone.

I ask because I've read on other boards that people feel that certain characters can't be brought back because they think they wouldn't fit into the "real" factor ie: Penguin, Poison Ivy, Mr, Freeze. So I'd like to see what you guys think on the topic.

Well they haven't written Scarecrow out. So he could still be around. But Two-Face is arguably just as big a film as Joker but for different reasons which I'd expect Nolan to fully explore (assuming he does it), so I wouldn't expect anyone big. Riddler could probably work.

Thats right, Scarecrow is still around, my bad on that. But your right Two face could man a movie on his own, I fully agree there. I should have said in the 3rd installment or beyond.

Two Face def, but as far as "realism" goes, Bane would be a sweet fight..

I don't understand why poison ivy (after a tiny bit of retooling) wouldn't be believable? Penguin i understand, and Mr. Freeze would be right out.

Bane, for God's sake, Bane.

Not sure where to start. The massive, ungodly amounts of plastic surgery and implants? Super steroids? Breaking Batman's back only for him to be cured by a faith healer, basically?

Come on, man.

They don't even have to use the Knightfall arc. Just fucking get Bane in there, with his correct character, not that muscleheaded moron of a travesty from Batman And Robin

They could use the Reaper. That would be pretty cool.

I know it was asked for villians we haven't seen yet, but I think there could be more down with Ra's Al Ghul.

Catwoman.

Black Mask would be good, but they'd prolly have to make the film rated r then.

Bane has always been very uninteresting to me.

It'll never happen, but if they managed to get Jean Paul Valley in there, even as a cameo, I'd prolly orgasm.

A film adaptation of Hush would be amazing, but there is way to much continuity to cover for it to ever happen.

I still have the comic where Bane broke Batman's back. Yea, how do you guy from that guy to the idiot in Batman and Robin. wtf?

They've already done my fav villian (Scarecrow) but I would like to see Bane or Riddler.

I'd say in addition to Two Face that Catwoman is likely for 3. Other than, or beyond that, I think out of any remaining villians the most likely to be used in Nolan's world is Riddler. Most everyone else is too unrealistic or obscure to the general audience. Characters like Freeze and Poison Ivy are way too out there, but I don't really see why Penguin is so out there.

Maybe the Devito version, but just having a short fat mob boss arms dealer with guns hidden in umbrellas and the street nickname of The Penguin isn't out there at all.

How is Poison Ivy way to out there?

Lock Jaw
03-28-2008, 02:59 PM
Yeah, she's not very out there at all. She CAN be, and occasionally IS, but she'd be like the easiest person in the world to keep it within the boundaries of "realism".

Others who could be good:

Hugo Strange
Mad Hatter
Talia Al-Ghul/Nyssa Al-Ghul
Lady Shiva

and of course.... Kite Man.

I mean Poison Ivy is like a botanist/tree hugging hippy that just goes psycho and uses plant based toxins and so forth. Keep her from breed plant people or stuff like that, but she can be done in a realistic way without ruining her core character.

The Riddler would be cool. Ras Al Ghul as well, especially if they could get Liam Neeson back again.

Freeze is really not as out there as everyone seems to think. If he was done in the vein of the Batman Animated Series, I think he would work just fine. He wouldn't need a super-flashy, neon muscle suit ala Batman and Robin (*shudder*). He's a great character when written well, with some really moving tragic elements.

Him and Riddler, when they're both turned down from their "camp" personas, are probably two of the more complex characters in the continuity.

Black Mask would be sweet, though he always felt like a bit of a watered-down Joker. :-\

Didn't they kill Ras? How could he survive that crash at the end?

Rammsteinmad

Technically we didn't see him die, he coulda jumped out at the last moment. Also in the comics he keeps coming back because of his Lazarus Pits, so it'd be totally okay if he came back. :y:

As long as it's Liam Neeson. :shifty:

Black Mask would be sweet, though he always felt like a bit of a watered-down Joker. :-\

Have you read the whole war drums saga? The whole point is that he just as sick and twisted as the joker, but there is no insanity to label as the cause for his actions. Which makes him far scarier imo. He's a hell of a lot tougher too.

As for the humor part, his is more of a dry wit then joker's shennanigans.

And why are poison ivy and mr. freeze too far out there? It doesn't have to be 100% realistic. There is plenty unrealistic with Begins anyways.

As long as they are presented in a darker, more mature manner like the joker and scarecrow, they will fit just fine.

How about, as a movie opener: The Terrible Trio?

Hence, why they'd be "First scene" villains. They rob a bank, in their full get-up, and out comes batman to take them out: With ease.

Bane would be awesome, the character is fuckin sweet.

If they could somehow do a Hush movie I would cream my pants.

Maybe not as a main villain, but I'd be alright with seeing a Mad Hatter.

If they could use the events of Long Halloween/Dark Victory for Harvey Dent, it would be cool to see Holiday, the Hangman killer and even Julian Day for the story.

I would love to see the Riddler, done as more of a Jigsaw-type villain. Seems to me that that'd be just about right for Nolan's series.

I wouldn't mind seeing Mr. Freeze get another go around. Sure, he got butchered in B&R, but I'd maybe go along the lines of the Animated Series/Sub-Zero movie.
