"Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has learned that TNA Wrestling has plans of flying an airplane over the Citrus Bowl arena tomorrow with an attached banner that reads something along the lines of "Watch TNA Impact."

While WWE has already informed their cameramen and production crew to make sure the banner is not shown on television, the 70,000 plus fans in attendance will be able to read it. According to Meltzer numerous incidents have occurred over the weekend involving TNA and WWE."

I ripped this from another site so I can't really post a sorce, but ROFL.

3 questions....

1) Which match do you think they will interrupt?

2) How many fans out of the 70,000 there will start chanting "TNA! TNA!"

and

3) What's the over/under on amount of fans saying said chant?

Does this reek of desperation to anyone else?

Reeks of comedy genious to me.

I actually believe they will have a plane with Kurt Angle attached (flying behind like a banner) yelling "WATCH TNA IMPACT"

Impact!

I wouldn't be surprised if they just had people handing out TNA tshirts to certain people though

This is the beginning of the TNA invasion with the New Owner of TNA, Aurora McMahon Helmsley!

It would probably be more disrupting to the WWE if they consistently had decent booking. You don't even need to rent a helicopter for that.

Do people not know that Vince McMahon controls his own TV and would never allow his camera crew to film a TNA banner on a plane on his biggest show of the year?

TNA in general reeks of desperation.

I am not sure how many times it would even be of concern that a camera is filming the sky during a match regardless of what was flying around.

I think with such a "strong" local fanbase, TNA is hoping to start some "TNA!" chants during the event. I actually wouldn't deem this completely out of the realm of plausability, considering the Playboy/Diva Tag match and the possibility of having to watch Mark Henry or Big Daddy V perform.

Fox

It is really fucking desperate and sad though. Maybe instead of spending money on this stupid stunt they could spend some money on decent writers.

KingofOldSchool
03-30-2008, 11:08 AM
I can see the banner now...

"Watch TNA Impact!...We're #1! ...Oh wait, that's just our ratings."

Afterlife

It's not a terrible idea, really. They'll have to do it during the chick fight, though; that's when everyone will be rolling their eyes, anyway; best chance of looking upward.

RVDmark
03-30-2008, 12:06 PM
If they do it during the Playboy match or possibly the 24 Man battle royal then they might get a reaction. If they are dumb enough to do it during a world Title match then I hope they get a "fuck TNA" chant.

Testicle

Whats funny about this is that TNA doesnt realize they blow.

Its alot like when XPW went to ECW. XPW sucked so it didnt work and didnt mean anything. It was embarrising and they got the shit beat out of them.

TNA cant compete with the WWE, and so this idea will fail.

This is sort of a great opportunity for TNA though. WWE brings their biggest show of the year to TNA's backyard, of COURSE they need to do something like this to get WWE fans' attention.

JT
03-30-2008, 12:20 PM
It would probably have been bigger if they managed some front row tickets for some of their bigger stars.

DarKCentaur
03-30-2008, 12:22 PM
WWE isn't that stupid. "Front row tickets for one... Christian Christofferson? And Bert Angel? Ok, here you go"

Vastardikai

Ticket jockey: Here you go... Joe... Samoa?

Joe: Thanks...

(Joe walks in.)

Ticket Jockey: (on Walkie Talkie) He's in, direct him to the front office for the contract signing... NOW!

(Another TNA Star comes by)

Ticket Jockey: Hello. You're name is... (Warning: Fire Pro Wrestling Returns reference ahead) Bill Bullet? Ok, come on in!

Bill: Thanks!

(In walks Bill)

Ticket Jockey; (On Walkie Talkie) Jarrett is in! send him to the nosebleed section, next to the most annoying block of Cena fans.

this will be fucking funny to watch. To the average viewer it will show that TNA has balls.

What would be pathetic is if they stood back and let the WWE have a big show on their turf

Jeritron
03-30-2008, 03:55 PM
lol, their turf. It's their turf because they can't tour and need to use a shitty soundstage. They also are clearly pathetic no matter what, for obvious reasons. That's like saying Sea World should send Shamu to Disney World during the Mickey Mouse parade to make a statement

Thursday night's live edition of TNA iMPACT! drew a 1.0 rating. This is down from recent weeks and clearly a disappointment for the company

NoJabbaNoBogRoll
03-30-2008, 04:01 PM
I would laugh if they had the camera show the plane, and have JR make reference to it, while acting completely oblivious as to what TNA is.

Jeritron
03-30-2008, 04:03 PM
It's a prime example of them trying to leech off the other guy and not worry about their own product. It's like showing some jobber from Heat in your crowd to try and earn credibility.

I think they should save the money on the plane and the banner, because judging by where their product is going they're gonna need it

I got you covered, bro.

It's not the first time someone tried a stunt like this. Heyman did the exact same thing at In Your House: Mind Games. He put ECW guys in the front row, and they did things that resulted in ECW chants. They were in Philadelphia, and gave some attention to a company that was in a Distant 3rd. Some people surely tuned in and saw an exciting, edgy, well put together show. That was a good publicity stunt.

TNA, however, isn't in the league of even ECW when it comes to marketing. Because TNA may grab the attention of some fans, who'll turn in to watch. What they'll see is a lazy, haphazardly put together product, much to the detriment of the promotion. They'll gain nothing from the publicity stunt.

Then again, gaining nothing from publicity stunts is kind of a TNA trademark, isn't it?

Exactly, fuck, who gives a shit that some lame ass wrestler that nobody cares about is in your crowd. Looking bored as hell if I might add.

If I was them, I wouldnt have shown it. If the Rock showed up, Id play it up huge. But ROBBIE, not so much.

If Smackdown moves back to Thursday, TNA is dead. I have no idea if it's 100% that SD will remain on Fridays so if anyone knows please feel free to correct me.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a fucking awesome idea? Hey guys, we're trying to grow as a company, and WrestleMania has an open roof stadium and they are in the area we are based in. We should so not do anything!

John Cena standing, celebrating with the WWE Championship as a blimp flies over saying "Watch TNA iMpact!" would be the funniest WrestleMania moment, dare I say, of all-time. The flier idea is an awesome one, too.

I demand an "Awesome Kong" chant during the useless Diva shit.

TNA is taking steps. Yes, they generally do some pretty stupid shit, but they have been getting better (it's not like they could have gotten much worse). They have a women's division that is actually respectable, and with Samoa Joe finally scheduled to become TNA World Heavyweight Champion, they might finally create that homegrown star to carry them.

Also, TNA seems to be getting behind Matt Morgan, which may be like "so?" but Morgan is a guy that can make money, I believe. Good big man in the ring, and great on the mic. Jim Cornette put this guy in the same bracket as John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton in terms of star potential. Plus, with him being a Gladiator, Morgan is probably going to get more mainstream exposure than any wrestler currently working within the industry.

Combine this with solid ideas like the World X Cup, and TNA might climb a bit, even if it doesn't become the great product some of us hope it would be.

So did they fly over? I couldn't have been bothered to look. I was busy watching a good wrestling show. I find it funny that they supposedly flew over during the MITB, where everyone in the arena's eyes probably never left the ring.

Just look at that match, the other matches, the whole arena and the show, and then think of that shitty outfit flying a plane with a banner over it trying to leech some attention. It's like a nagging misquito or the buzzing of a fly.

Hah, if TNA were responsible, I'd give them props for that. That would've been huge.

It was definitely just WWE being careless in their setup and blowing half a million fuses or something.
