View Full Version : Last night's Raw....

It was poor. I don't think I've ever seen a worse Raw than that.
The drivel of hashing together a fatal 4 way for the title, because the 3 way wasn't awkward enough at Mania, adding a huge aging wrestler to the mix will really do the cause some good.
Regal has for some reason forgotten how to work a mic. 5 years ago he was one of the funniest characters in the whole roster. You would think that since mic work and promo's are his bread and butter these days, he would at worst stay as good as he was, not decline to the standard of Khali. More edge on a tennis ball.
The other matches were tag matches and womens, and since WWE has ruined the credibility of both divisions, it's not worth mentioning.
Thing is, we all know the Draft is imminent. They had the Flairathon last week so, it was out of bounds for the day after Mania, where most fueds were settled...
They are not starting many singles fueds, because of course, alot of guys will be changing roster... But why not do it last night? What would we have lost as viewers if The Highlight Reel was put back a week, and they could have re-hashed the uninteresting Title match anytime...
Was the toss that we were subjected to, worth holding the Draft off for? They could have just, done it last night and we could have moved on to some fresh fueds.
It wasn't as good as last week, but it honestly wasn't bad either. There was some decent wrestling imo. There was some good promo moments, and I'm suprised but adding JBL to the feud actually makes me more interested.
Really after some terrible shows I've seen in the past, this wasn't really too bad. :-\

It wasn't good, but in all fairness last week's Raw was so good that you can't really follow it. For nothing else but the Flair segment, anyway.
I'm not sure just when in the fuck JBL became #1 contender and why such a decision was made to include him in the title scene when he clearly is a bowl of crap right now. I have zero interest in another match with Cena, Trips and Orton, adding JBL just makes me even less interested.
As for Regal's mic work, I think he still can, I think they're just trying to make him come off more serious now than classic funny Regal. Which I hate, because funny Regal was the shit.

All I can really say is I actually turned over to JEOPARDY, and never turned back. And from what BDC was telling me, I don't exactly feel like I missed much of anything. Worst Raw Ever? Dunno. Boring? Boring enough that Trebek seemed like a fun alternative.

Actually, Val Venis got a FULL entrance, and threw himself around the ring to make Umaga look good for almost 5 minutes. That was OK I guess.

The minute I heard Venis' entrance after Umanga's, I tuned out. I just couldn't watch Venis get spanked like that.

He didn't actually have one offensive attack.
Even jobbers on Primetime Wrestling had a few seconds of actually striking the over opponent.

Yeah, I kinda expected him to get slaughtered.

I hate handicap matches because the team with the handicap always wins in WWE. I mean I know there are a few exepetions here and there, but not in a meaningful way. So to have 2 in one night to add people to a title match is just gay. Cena needs to be moved away from the title scene. He has lost twice in a row, he doesn't deserve another shot, at least not right now.

Just seemed like lazy booking from start to finish. Theys eem to think that they can just book one or two good shows and then balance it out with 4 or 5 shit ones, ive been noticing this for a long time now, they get our hopes up(or atleast they try to) then knock them straight back down cause they can get away with it since there's no real competition.
I totally agree with you about regal, just hate hearing him talk on the mic, feels like such forced emotion or something like he's just remembering his lines. I'm sure they could've found soemone better than him for this. What we got last night was an ok opening promo, then an whomaga squash match, a boring womens match, recap of what happened with flair, a shitty tag match between carlito/santino&london/kendrick,. ANOTHER womens match, and TWO shitty handicap matches, the 2nd one i didn't even bother staying up for. Only thing worth watching was the highlight reel. That highlight reel was about the only thing that saved raw from being the worst raw ever it hink.
So when does Jeff Hardy come back?

Seemed like it was filler night or somthing. Guess they're droping the Orton v. Hardy angle and did I miss something or where the fuck is Kennedy ? I agree this Raw sucked balls, I dvr it and I fast forwarded like 3/4 of it.

I guess he will return at the Draft Show Maybe?
Although, his suspension is 60 days, so if the draft is in 2 weeks as expected, that would be a week or 2 too early.
WWE have the option to waive the suspension if they so choose, since its not sanctioned drug testing by a governing body.
Who knows.

I have it DVRed; from what you guys are saying sounds like an "In Case of Emergency Break Glass" Raw. I imagine there will be lots of fast forwarding and I will be watching Law and Order very soon.

What pissed me off about Regal is that he looks like a spineless bitch. It seems to me that JBL and Orton was only booked by Regal because JBL said he should be in it. Then HHH comes out and says he should be in, Regal says k, only if you win a handcapped match. All of this I'm ok with, cause there is no good #1 contender right now. And heel v heel matches never do all that well with buyrates. So we have a 3 way at backlash, fine. Then Cena comes out, so instead of making Cena look like a Johnny Come lately Regal just goes ok, sure you have to win a handicapped match as well. I should have walked down and demanded to be in the match at backlash then have to beat Cena and Orton in a handcapped match.

Then I should've came out and demanded to be in the main event and have to win a handicap match against you and Cena.
Then we continue until Jeff Hardy comes out and says he doesn't want to be in the Backlash main event, he just wants to laugh at the fact that it's now a 50 man match.

k, why did they have londrick go over the tag champs one week and have them fight cade and murdoch the next, while putting santino and carlito against the tag champs?
also, way to totally ignore kednrick walking out on london.

I like the Fatal Fourway. I think It'll be awesome. If JBL comes out with the belt, I will probably roll over laughing.

I sort of like what they are doing with the World Tag Team Titles. I think they may have been going for a "Paul London & Brian Kendrick should get a title shot, but hang on, so should Santino & Carlito," which could lead to some kind of Three-Way Match for the titles at Backlash. Tag teams are getting time. I'm just happy about that.
William Regal and his hair are the best things on RAW. I refuse to listen to any of you. Regal facing Orton next week will be absolutely awesome. Fairly certain Orton will be going over, but I'd mark out of Regal somehow got the victory. Even if it was Triple H helping him out, and building more towards the Fatal Four Way.
Handicap Matches are stupid. Especially when the guy with the disadvantage wins. They are way overused. Handicap Matches are to the WWE as "on a Pole" matches are to Vince Russo.
I don't like the concept of the Fatal Four Way at Backlash. With two other World Titles being defended, I think you could get away with Randy Orton and JBL vs. Triple H and John Cena, with the outcome having effects on the WWE Title scheme. Have JBL turn on Orton, which allows Cena to get the fall, and actually build to this Fatal Four Way.

I can see him on SmackDown!, but an official move to ECW would not surprise me either. They probably need more "stars," but it's also no reward for Hardy. Plus, SmackDown!/ECW are interchangeable these days, anyway.
Cons:
- Tag champs get beat in second straight week and still have the belts?
- 4 way match means absolutely nothing when 2 guys can just interrupt promos and put themselves in the main event.
- Women's tag.
- Val Venis. Not as much as he is a talent but that he is a jobber and made no difference to Umaga's status so no point getting killed.
- That's about as much as I remember. And I'll forget it all by tomorrow except for the plus point of the show.
Pros
- Shawn Michaels. The man is awesome. And he actually makes me wanna see a Batista match now.

Terrible Raw, the opening segment was god awful, Regal seems to be getting Eugene disease - that might be deliberate but his fucking up lines is pretty ridiculous. It was beyond awkward as well.
I ran through the upteenth time that tag teams have faced each other on Raw.
They simply have nothing to do with Jericho.
Fatal Four Way at Backlash. I'm bumping Backlash for sure. Even if it's free over here.
You could tell that it was going to be a shit Raw when Val gets a full entrance. No disrespect to him, but what? Although he still looks the business and I dunno why they don't throw him together with Jericho for a little feud over the IC title. It's not as if Jericho has much to do. He could mock him on the highlight reel and then Val could beat the shit out of him.
As good as HBK did in the promo, I still find it hard to buy this 'didnt do the right thing' crap that Dancing Dave is pedalling. Like ANY professional would try to lose. I'd much prefer if Dave said, you beat my friend so I'm going to kill you.
I think two monkey's uncles and a blind man could have booked Raw better. It was simply awful.

Thing that I don't get, is they booked Umaga in a squash match. On the same week they start blowing their trumpet about making the programme more family orientated etc..
So why, of all the jobbers, put Val Venis, a guy with a porn star gimmick in the match, on THAT week?
And why give the porn star, his full towel removing girating entrance?
Chicken Oriental.
