Web page and forums

Im planning on starting a web site and am wondering how you can add a forum and/or a blog to it. Im not asking you to explain every little thing. i'm just looking for credible resources I can research.

phpbb.com is a good free board, and even if you don't install it, you could just read the install guide there. Most forums work the same way.
