So I heard that in the UK when they were doin the UMANGA chant he gave a positive acknowledgement and this past monday he came out and destroyed the "canidates" so are they gonna give him a face push? I thought it would be reunited with rosey and remake three minute warning but it never happened and I can only think of Kamahla as the face "wildman" gimmick but could he be a face and keep the Umanga gimmick and not be a joke?

If they turned him face, he would probably wind up like Kane. Which is to say looking less indestructible and more goofy and "human", maybe even start speaking.

I think it would be a mistake. UMANGA needs to not just be another candidate in order to win voters... no one wants to see more talk... they want to see a man of action...

Eddie Fatu has done a great job of evolving the Umaga gimmick. He has gotten "smarter" in the terms of the storyline, and Jim Ross has been putting him over as being quite calculating. Umaga has also been getting more and more face support. The WWE did a poor of turning him last time, but I think a face turn would work this time.

You're exactly right. If Umaga turns face, he should remain exactly the same. He should just kick the asses of heels, though. Umaga beating the shit out of John Morrison & The Miz after the whine about losing the WWE Tag Team Championship, as an example.

Umanga as a face would surprisingly work. I'm all for it!

I like this idea, i've always like Umaga anyway, to see him as a face would be nice

One thing that he could do is b4 he does that thing in the corner/samoan spike, he does a catchy 'salute' (howl, native tongue) that everybody can do in the crowd (like the worm). It would be cool if he always jumps b4 doing that move in the corner.

I loved his throw-n-catch/double samoan drops btw :y:

I'd buy it, and I used to hate the shit out of Umaga.

^ Same feelings as The Optimist.

I'd say Umanga was at a sort of tweener level now.

I disagree with anything Noid just said.

Though if Umanga started kicking the shit out of heels while still being the bulldozer, it would work. Or maybe just a loose cannon and taking out anyone he pleasesd.

It would be best if he played the tweener face. Take no sides and feud with anyone, and I think he'd get majorly over.

It's surprising how such a cartoony gimmick can work in a day like today. Umaga is one of a kind.

But I disagree with you.

He should stay heel and go to Smackdown before he ever turns face. So much potensial over there to keep him busy as a heel for atleast another year or so. He's pretty much done everything on Raw now, sort of like Kane was before he moved to Smackdown, there's nothing left for him on Mondays.

Umaga should be ECW champion for a long time.

He's face now? I thought he was still getting ZERO crowd reaction.

"U-U-Umaga!" would disagree.

If Umaga remains heel, he should be the defending ECW Champion at WrestleMania next year. It's a beefed up role from his previous two big Mania matches (well, sort of big), and he would make a great heel to overcome. If JBL can take the WWE Title into WrestleMania, then I fully buy Umaga doing the same.

Xero is right. The gimmick should have been way to cartoony to work in a modern sports entertainment setting (and for a while, it didn't), but Umaga is becoming more and more of a mainstay and an attraction for the WWE.

I'd love to see Umaga turn face. He does get a good reaction when he does his power moves, and he's excellent in the ring, espcially for a mna his size.

Umaga isn't getting much of a reaction in America no. But if you judge by a gaint reaction in Europe, then he is huge there.

He got a decent reaction at WrestleMania.

I think it is more the "smart crowds" that cheer Umaga. WrestleMania always has a little "smarky" flavour to it, and England has a few tongue-in-cheek fans.

You'd probably find some good reactions for Umaga in Toronto, Madison Square Garden and Chicago.

So basically if you ain't in the right town, Umanga doesn't get a pop. Time to turn him or switch brands. Him beating Val Venis doesn't do anything for him on Raw. Plus Val Venis sucks.

In regards to Umaga, that is pretty much it. The guy is technically a heel, so if you're in redneck country, they probably think he is forged of the devil's design, so they'll continue to boo him until an official change takes place. Then, all can be forgiven, of course.

Also, Val Venis is accomplished more in his life than you have, and probably ever will. He's one of the best sellers on the WWE roster.

I don't see what Val Venis vender skill has to do with anything. He still sucks.

That U-U-Umaga chant at Mania was from English fans also. Did you notice how basically the whole front camera side section was just full of English flags and football (soccer) shirts? I bet most of the Wrestlemania platinum packages are purchased from the UK. So yeah I think that explains that chant at Mania and at Raw in London last week.

But if Umanga is in a redneck town besides his role as either a face or a heel, He's going to get boo'ed because he isn't white, or from America, despite the fact, he really is American...but you know what I'm saying.
