I'm a big action figure collector, big lover of toys. I've got a huge-ass collection of Star Wars clone troopers on particular, and a bunch of other stuff (He-Man, GI Joe, Lord of the Rings, etc etc.) Basically, if I like soemthing that has a toy line, I patronize it.
Except wrestling.
There are a few reasons for this really. One, I really don't have a lot of room left, and wrestling figures are kind of big. Two, the sheer amount of them. There's constantly new figures being produced, and on the shelves at any time you're bound to find 2 figures of someone prominent. Three, I don't want to get stuck with figures of people that get fired. Four, and this is the most important part... have you looked at WWE figures lately? They look like shit. Most of the likenesses are pretty bad and they're usually in some ridiculous facial expression and limited pose that just makes them look like total ass. And that's just inexcusable to me in that large of a scale. I mean, I saw a JBL figure the other day that looked like George W Bush. And don't even get me started on the women.
So a while ago I found this line caleld "Deluxe Build n' Brawl." Basically they come out in six-figure series. Each guy comes with a different part of the ring; one guy has the ropes, one has the posts w/turnbuckles, and the other 4 have mat pieces. And, most importantly of all, The likenesses are actually GOOD. Kane in particular is fantastic.
Now I always told my toy-buying friends that I'd get WWE figures if they ever looked good. I didn't get these when I first saw them for a very good reason. The first series was Cena, Batista, HHH, Undertaker, Edge, and Lashley. Now if I get these I don't want a bunch of damn ring pieces laying around, but I wasn't going to get Lashley for God's sake. Now with the second series out, I figure I can get anough guys I like to come up with all the ring pieces. The second series is HBK, Kane, Batista, Mysterio, Kennedy, and Orton. I picked up HBK and Kane yesterday, and I'll definitely want to pick up HHH, Taker, and Edge. That will leave me with a missing ring piece, so I'll probably snag Kennedy, or maybe Mysterio (So that the others have someone to beat on.) Anyways, having said repeatedly that I would buy good WWE figures if I got a chance, I'm now doing so.
The only thing that pisses me off about this: why the fuck is there a Batista in both series when we could have had Matt, Jeff, MVP, or even fucking Umanga?
Also, there's a bit of a problem in my room now. These guys are in the same 3 3/4 inch scale as the Star Wars basic figures. Now Shawn thinks he's a Jedi and Kane has taken over the clone army.

And yes I know I am a nerd, dork, etc etc. Don't bother pointing it out.
