Lately my PC has been inconsistently hanging during the POST memory test. I consulted Google, but after resetting the CMOS battery (which has already run down anyway), and running on one stick of RAM (which are, as far as I know, different brands, as I didn't build this PC myself, but I did personally upgrade it around last June) as suggested it still sometimes fails to POST properly, so now I'm out of ideas. The problem started sometime this week.

I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L1 motherboard, BIOS is Award Modular and I'm running XP Professional SP2 if that counts for anything.

The machine won't boot at all now, tried every possible RAM configuration, checked all the cables and fans, replaced the CMOS battery. Seems like the motherboard is dead. Unless anyone can think of anything that could fix it.

Is it beeping? And if so, what are the beeps like? Two short beeps, a short and a long, etc. If it's not beeping at all, you got a problem with power to the computer and/or motherboard problem.

It's finally fixed, turns out the heatsink in the processor was unbelievably dusty, causing overheating. Having someone round who knows how to troubleshoot properly 4tw.
