Wii Fit stretches into UK sales record book

With reports of Nintendo’s Wii Fit selling an astonishing 90 copies a second in the UK last week, it wouldn’t take a genius to predict that the title has shot to the top of the UK’s all-format charts for the week. That’s not its biggest achievement though, because Wii Fit has become a double achiever in Nintendo’s UK sales terms.
Industry website MCV reports that Wii Fit (which launched in the UK last Friday) was bought by roughly one in ten Wii consoles owners within its first couple of days on sale, raking in the firm an estimated £16.3 million big ones (Great British Pounds). Its sales not only made it the third largest launch in British videogame history in monetary terms (behind only Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Halo 3 for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Microsoft Xbox 360 respectively, but also became the sixth fastest-selling game in UK history.
Wii Fit was joined in the UK top ten by fellow Wii titles including Mario Kart Wii, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and SEGA Superstars Tennis.
