I just got back from the Virginia debut of Ring of Honor. Really good show, solid wrestling throughout. Here's a rundown of the results (that I can remember):

Chris Hero defeated Pelle Primeau. Don't remember how. All of Larry Sweeney's group minus Brent Albright was out with Hero. Big Bobby Dempsey chant broke out and Sweeney told him to get under the ring, where he stayed until the match was over.

Two jobber teams wrestled and the heel team won.

Brent Albright submitted Damien Wayne to win a 4 Corners Match. Claudio Castagnoli and Nigel McGuiness were the other two competitors. Decent match, nothing special. Castagnoli and McGuiness seemed to just phone it in, which is somewhat understandable given the position of the card on the match and the fact they are facing each other in a RoH title match tomorrow night at the Hammerstein.

Austin Aries defeated Erik Stevens with a guillotine choke. Aries wrestled in street clothes. Before the match he came out and called out Jimmy Jacobs, who didn't answer. Apparently, Aries used the guillotine to send to a message to Jacobs (since Jacobs has been using it for a finish). After the match, Aries cut a promo about Jacobs, Lacey and himself. Stevens doesn't have his mohawk anymore either. Don't know how new that is though.

Necro Butcher defeated Jack Evans in a No DQ match with a backbreaker onto the backs on two chairs. Pretty much you standard brawl.

Jimmy Jacobs defeated Jay Briscoe with guillotine choke. Briscoe was going to give Jacobs a Jay Driller through a chair set up on two others (imagine it like this |-|). Necro Butcher interfered and prevented it though. Jacobs then DDT'ed Briscoe through the chair and went right into the guillotine (forgive me that I have no clue what he calls the move). Both before and after the match, Aries attacked Jacobs and had to be pulled off.

Bryan Danielson defeated Tyler Black via submission by some sort of crab hold leg lock. Match of the night by far. Apparently it was billed as a rematch from Breakout and, although I haven't seen their first match, this one was absolutely amazing.

Takeshi Morishima, Naomichi Marufuji, and Go Shiozaki defeated Roderick Strong, Davey Richards, and Rocky Romero in a 6-Man tag. Great match, alot better than I expected. Some great storytelling early in the match as Richards kept avoiding Shiozaki's chops until Go finally landed one. Lot's of "Let's go Go" chants. Some interesting spots in this one too. At one point, Romero attempted a sunset flip on Morishima but couldn't get him over, so Richards grabbed Romero's legs and catapulted him into Morishima's balls. At another point Strong's team isolated Marufuji in the ring and had him in a Tree of Woe. Strong launched Romero into Marufuji for a dropkick and Richards set up to do a baseball slide dropkick, ran across the ring and.....stopped right in front of Marufuji and tagged him in the balls.

Some random notes:

I'm not a huge RoH fan, I follow it casually but I was impressed by the product that was delivered. Much better show than I expected seeing as how it was a debut show for the region and they have a big show tomorrow night in New York.

At points, I couldn't take the 'smart' crowd. They barely boo'ed any of the heels, minus Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black.

There was this one guy in my section who would flip out anytime someone would do a snapmare. Whenever he saw one he'd jump up and yell "YEA SNAPMARE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".

RoH is coming back here August 1st. Already got front row tickets.
