Okay, so I'm kind of bored of my music collection at the moment. I'm into alot of different types of metal and want to find some new bands to get into, I'll list some down. It'd be preferrable if you could say what's good about the band or what genre they are or something, but if not I can always wiki/google.

KMFDM
MDFMK
Skinny Puppy
Ministry
Dope Stars Inc
Front Line Assembly
Fear Factory
Machinae Supremacy
ACDC
40 Below Summer
Ephel Duath
Cryptopsy
Sanctity
DevilDriver
Dimmu Borgir
Daath
Hatebreed
SkinLab
Throwdown
Machinehead
Slayer
Nile
Last Days of Humanity
Deftones
Static-X
Disturbed
Dope
Drowning Pool
Feindflug
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Metallica
Lamb of God
Motley Crue
Panzer AG
Prong
Rammstein
Rob Zombie
Saliva
Scar Symmetry

Wintersun

Okay, thats what I'm listening to at the moment and kind of bored of. It varies across different genres of metal etc.

I guess actually this thread could just be recommend metal to anyone. Anyway, shoot. Just remember that it's METAL and not Rock/Grunge etc.

PS: Sorry if this post sounds characterless etc. I really need a shit and don't have time to make it sound good.

What damndest said, plus:

Corrosion of Conformity
Alabama Thunderpussy
The Melvins
The Obsessed
Crowbar
Down
Brand New Sin
Spirit Caravan

That's bit is a good introduction to Sludge Metal, Doom Metal, and Redneck Metal: my 3 main sub-genres.

If you're bored with them check out some Prog Metal. Examples:

Dream Theater
Symphony X
Fates Warning
Andromeda
Blind Guardian
Shadow Gallery
Savatage
Evergrey
Kamelot

If you're more into your metal stuff, I seriously recommend Symphony X. You will not be disappointed.

Yeah, I was going to pick up a Symphony-X album on friday because the album art looked good but I thought that would kind of be a stupid thing to do. I will check them out though and the others.

And Vastardikai that list sounds obscure but I'll check them out anyway.

Also, Soulfly are awesome people. Downloaded alot of their shit a few minutes ago.

The names of some of these bands are amazing. "Alabama Thunderpussy" "Last Days of Humanity" and "Hatebreed" are giving me some serious chuckles.

Also, Mr. Lettus is spot on suggesting Green Jelly.

I haven't been able to listen to metal since "Raped the firstborn" sold out.

The problem with this joke is that "Raped the firstborn" sounds like a name one of these bands would use.

Edit: also, it's just not very good

As far as obscurity, COC actually opened for Metallica a couple of times. Down is a side project featuring Phil Anselmo of Pantera. And the Melvins have inspired a ton of bands from Nirvana to Tool to Dillinger Escape Plan.

Yes, Alabama Thunderpussy is a great name. And they have some of the best riffs known to man.

Their "Oceanic" album is pretty kick ass.

:Dyea, for Metal, you basically need hard-hitting euro-dance music.... nothing else does the job really. Search around on iTunes for "euro club hits" or :rofl:check this link: http://electricfilebox.com/tracks (http://electricfilebox.com/tracks)

Primus
Green Jelly

Neither of them are really metal...

Iced Earth - Check out Horror Show, Something Wicked or just check out the song Dantes Inferno.

Opeth - Still Life, Ghost Reveries, Blackwater Park, My Arms Your Hearse

Dream Theater - Already been mentioned I know but worth mentioning again. So much here to choose from. Scenes From A Memory is a great concept album. Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is worth it for the title track alone.

Blind Guardian - Battalions Of Fear, Night At The Opera, Nightfall In Middle Earth, Imaginations Through The Other side. Those should give you a pretty varied look at the band.

Neither of them are really metal...

I can kinda see why you'd say that about Primus, but Green Jelly is straight up early 90's metal..

Ok, Green Jelly...is techinally metal.

I don't know what Primus is. I understand why it gets lumped in with metal, but they just aren't metal.

Yeah its a fucking awesome album I would agree there. Anything by Agalloch is pretty fucking rad as well, but I don't think thats the type of metal the dude is after.
