Was the other DVD just matches?

The First Flair DVD was just brief segments of Flair talking in between the matches. I know many love the documentarys so we finally get one on Flair alone. July 8th 2008 is going to be a great day in the U.S. for old school NWA/WCW fans as this Flair set and the Starrcade 3 disc set come out the same day. The fans in the U.K. have to wait till Aug.

I think it's great they skipped 1992 WITH THE MATCHES because they already had a ton of that on his first DVD

Loose Cannon

not to much WCW 1993-2000 though. not a whole lot at all

Well realistically nobody can complain about that. The documentary looks to be excellent, and the matches are excellent.

I will however say that with a career as epic as Flair's they could have easily gotten away with a 4th disc to make it more definitive. I'd pay the extra 10 bucks for a 4th, seeing as they have none of his matches from his original WWF run or his 90s wcw time. Also would have liked to see his matches with Taker, Edge and maybe a couple others put on there with the modern ones

The DVD also does not include matches from 86-87 in which Flair had a lot of great matches. But considering they put on the 3 matches most every1 was hoping be on there (Sting, Funk, Steamboat) and arugably his match in his WWE return (the HHH cage match at TT 05) and some rare matches it will be a great set. I wonder if Flair handpicked the matches himself because hes already been plugging this DVD.

Loose Cannon

yea, 86/87 was a lot of the Four Horsemen stuff. I guess maybe they didn't include them because of the Horsemen DVD? I forget what's on there though.

That 85 six man match. Was that right before the Horsemen formed?

I agree Jeritron. Hopefully theres a 4th bonus disc that they usually do at a retailer like Best Buy, Circuit City, FYE, Wal-Mart etc.

Excluding Matches that are already on other DVDs and assuming his best Starrcade Matches will be on the Starrcade Set I think some of the omissions are

vs Windham at Crockett Cup 87
vs Luger at GAB 88
vs Hogan MSG (first Flair/Hogan one on one matchup)
vs Bret in 1991 (first ever meeting between Flair and Bret. WWE 24/7 recently hyped the match big in calling it a classic no1 knows about I thought it would make this set)
The complete Perfect match loser leaves match (could be on Perfects DVD though)
vs Rude in WCW (never seen a Flair/Rude match but some have said they were dissapointing)
Spring Stampede Rematch vs Steamboat on WCW Sat Night
His orignal retirement match vs Hogan in a cage at Halloween Havoc 94
A Savage WCW encounter either GAB 95 or Superbrawl 96
vs Sting in the Final Nitro
vs Angle on RAW in the Summer of 05

Looks pretty good. But I can't buy it coz I'm going back to College in September and need to start saving money. Currently, during some point in time I need to get the following DVDs:

The Rock
Steve Austin
Triple H
The Hardys
Armageddon 2007 and all PPV's after.

Depending on price and availability here, this may just be the first wrestling DVD / Blu-Ray (am I hoping here?) disc i own.

Wal-Mart is advertising it online at $19.95. The first Flair DVD was up there as one of the all time top selling WWE DVDs so I think this well sell great too. As for Blu-Ray Format WM 24 is the first Blu Ray release for WWE but for this yr no other DVDs profile or PPV will be in the format.

Is that Sting match the same one on the first DVD?

mrslackalack
05-12-2008, 07:03 PM
Nope the Sting match on the first Flair DVD was from the Clash in June 94 that unified the WCW and WCW International (title name of the belt that replaced the NWA in WCW) titles. Itwas a good but not great match. This Flair/Sting match here is from the very first COTC. It is a 45 minute classic that many have in their top 10 or 25 list of favorite matches ever. This match put Sting on the map and hyped him up as a main eventer and future world title holder. The last 2 minutes of the match were shown in between on the first Flair DVD.

Would have preferred the Taboo Tuesday 04 cage match against Orton (I believe Flair's last ever singles PPV main event) to the Trips one from a year later.

To be fair we already have a Flair DVD full of matches, if you add the two together its epic.

Ric Flair could easily have a 10-DVD set and it still wouldn't cover his greatness in complete detail. This will be a sure-fire pickup for me. WWE is making a killing with the DVDs, and I have no problem giving Vince my money for these.

The reason there is 10 matches is many of the matches are long length wise.
