Do you have a TV tuner? If so, that's an issue with Windows and the tuner drivers. If you have automatic updates on, or updated yourself, then more then likely they are are just not getting along.

Here are some things to try: http://freakokalam.blogspot.com/2007/02/media-center-crashes-ehrecvrexe.html

No problem. If that doesn't work there a few other things, I think, that you could try. But that's the root of your problem.

On a side note, if you have Hauppauge, good choice.

Are there any codec packs installed on that computer?

Windows Media Center generates popup errors

The title of the popup is: MSVidCtl System Broadcast Message Receiver:
ehRecvr.exe - Application Error

The body is: The instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory at
"0x00000010". The memory could not be "written".

My graphics card is: NVidia GeForce 6600 GT, driver version 7.7.7.9, same
problem happen with other graphic card or drivers
The tuner is: WinTV-PVR-500, driver version: 20.35.23301 is and application
shipped with the card all works perfectly

ehrecvr.exe is version 5.1.2715.2773 - (xpsp(wmbla).051011-0745)
ehrecvr.exe.config show this:
<configuration>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322" />
</startup>
</configuration>

Problem finally solved! I had the kazaa mega codec pack installed which was
the root of the problem. I updated all my tuner card drivers, which I now
know is a Hauppauge HVR 1300 and removed the codec pack and it works a treat!

I was going to suggest updating your video card drivers. It has created problems for me before, getting error messages after watching videos for awhile.
