Just wondering, about how fast do your downloads usually go?

I got a decently seeded 1.36GB file from Mini-Nova coming in at 750kb/sec

whats the highest you have had?

Mine was 1.42mb/sec

Was getting 340kb/sec on a couple movie downloads the other day through torrents. Pretty good for my connection.

Where do you get your torrents from, personally I use Mini-Nova.

I've gotten burst speeds of up to 2 megs/second every so often but I average around 750 k/s, obviously depending on server/torrent.

5mb/sec?

Must have been a good porn vid then.

I use either Demonoid or Pirate Bay when Demonoid doesn't have something.

On torrents it varies a lot. If I DL shit from the internet it'll usually go at around 700-800 but it has gone up to like 1.5MB/s before.

Chances are that it's not directly your fault. Just the speeds you get from your provider. Either check and see if they have faster rates or look for another company. If not, there's not that much you can do.

Unless you know you're speeds are suppose to be higher than that. In which case I would check to see if you've got the correct ports open (if you're behind a router).

You know, DS is THE MAN when it comes to computers (oh and BC is the OTHER MAN).

Nerf, DS is right about your provider and ports OR it could just be the plan you're on. It all comes down to money. You might be on a cheaper plan with a slower download rate - worth checking what plan you're on. If you want faster speeds you'll probably have to pay for it.

Personally I would "average" about 500kb/sec - as Xero says, depends on the server/torrent.

I had a 4.2/MB second download that lasted for like a min, sadly it was like a 20GB download, and didnt stay that fast.

I don't really know exactly what deal we are on as my mommy pays all the bills and the like :o, but I know it is some form of Verizon DSL which I thought was supposed to be pretty solid. What are the 'right' ports to be open anyway?

Are you on dial-up NerF?

Dial up wouldn't deliver 100kb/sec.

Some kind of DSL is all I know really. We used to have dial-up and that was godawful, this is a lot faster but still, I think my mommy pays a decent amount I am not entirely sure

I got Aliant Extreme 15

Its $64.50 a month, for 15mb/sec and unlimited.

Take a look at the bill next time, or ask her for it...

For torrents it varies around 100-800 kb/s and for ftp about 1.5 mb/s

On my old connection, was getting about 3mb/s average and when using Blackcats-Games on new relases, about 7mb/s. But half the guys seeding on that site are using 1mb/s upload web servers so it was east to max out.
