I loved the feuds he had with the Big Bossman, Bret Hart and Roddy Piper. I also remember when I was a kid seeing him wrestle against a jobber at a house show. After he beat him, I remember he got on the mic and did that whole...."You're under arrest" speech. I loved that he would always arrest the guys he beat afterwards. I recall it cracked my Dad up. Looking back, it makes me laugh too. The character was pretty cheesy and funny.

I'd love if Jacques Rougeau would just randomly show up at the Royal Rumble next year or a battle royal or just any WWE event on TV and comes out in full Mountie gear with his old theme music blasting over the PA. Hardly anyone would probably know who he was, or get the joke and that'd make it twice as funny for those of us who do know who he is in my opinion.

I personally enjoyed WWE when it was full of all the cheesy gimmicks. I loved all the goofy characters. Anyway, anybody know what Jacques Rougeau is up to these days?

I loved the Bossman vs The Mountie "Jailhouse" match, or what ever it was called where the loser spent the night in jail. Rougeau played it up so well when they were finger printing him, and when he screamed when he was locked in the cell with his cell mate. Classic stuff.

I remember that! I totally forgot that until I read your post. Yeah, it was some whether overly gay tough guy who was in cellmate. I recall him saying something like..."Well, hello.....Don't you just love the way leather feels against your body?" Then the Mountie screamed..."LET ME OUT! LET ME OUTTA HERE!" My father laughed at that as well when I first saw it. I of course did not get until many years later. Ahh, to be young and innocent.

God when I was a kid, the shock proof gimmick was awesome.

I wanna see the clip where he accidentally legit shocked Koko B Ware.

I always figured more people would remember The Mountie than not. He was pretty OK, I suppose.

Quebecquers w/ Johnny Polo are top notch as well.

Exact same theme except it starts "We're not the Mounties!" Great stuff.

I always loved how the "shock stick" seemed to have different sounds when he shocked people. Sometimes it was the expected crackle sound, other times it made a sound that was like metal scraping against metal.

The first stick looked pretty weird, more like a wooden pole wrapped in insulation tape, that second one in the box looked pretty mean though, and unlike the other actually had a current going through it you could see on the probes.

They've tried to get The Mountie to make cameo appearances over the years, but Rougeau has refused on grounds of not liking the WWF's adult orientated direction. Maybe now they've tamed it down to a shadow of its former self, we'll see him show up from time to time.

Loved his feud with Bret Hart back when i was a kid. I always remembered the one bit where Bret was forced into putting his Intercontinental Title on the line against The Mountie and subsequently losing.

Could never figure why Bret had to fight him while he "wasnt well"

I'm the mountie
I'm massive, I'm brave, I'm strong
tra la la la la
Cos the mountie always gets his man

I used to laugh my head off when he used to come down singing his song so much so that remember parts of it still to this day.

And I've heard it mentioned that Hart lost the title the way he did because his contract was expiring.

Because babyfaces weren't pussies then like they are now.

yeah, my best mountie memory was when he beat bret for the IC title when bret had a 100+ degree flu. then piper beat mountie with the sleeper at royal rumble, which set up a pretty good bret/piper feud culminating at WM i think?

I love that story of when he and Dynamite Kid got into a legit fight backstage and the Mountie knocked four of his front teeth right out.

Ah yes, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police got all up in Vince's area about the gimmick, hence the change.
