Arcade version is basically what was known as the "core" system. It comes with a wired controller and a disc of some of XBLA early games. It does NOT include the hardrive, so would need a memory card for game saves and DLC, although its only 64mb or something like that.

Pro version is what most people I'm guessing have bought. It comes with a wireless controller and includes the hardrive, which really is a must have.

The Elite version is basically the same as the Pro version, but comes in black and has a bigger hardrive (120gb). Also comes with the proper HDMI, or whatever the High-Def stuff is, cables and connectors.

Although you say you dont want the online stuff, to get the most out of the 360, you need it. Even if its just for marketplace, you need it like you need oxygen.

Depends on if you need/want the HD stuff. If you want the high quality HD stuff, go Elite. Otherwise, I'd go Arcade and just buy a used hard drive. The 20GB used drives go for about $30 on eBay (from a quick search) and would save you about $50.

Hell, you could buy a used 120GB and still come out below the Elite price.

The Arcade also comes with a wireless controller these days.

They should all have an HDMI port, unless you buy 2nd hand, but you'll have to buy the cable seperate unless you plonk for an Elite.

I only need the thing to play the games. Do I need a lot memory or is arcade what I should go for?

Go with the Pro package. You'll want the hard drive if you decide to play online or download any content.

Why are you not wanting to go online? Is there a specific reason, or what? Honestly think you would be better off just buying one with a HD to be prepared just in case.

If you are not going online, do not buy the following popular games:

Call of Duty 4
Halo 3

Hm? You can go online without the HD. The only games that require the HD for online play are FF XI and Burnout Paradise.

I'd still reccomend an HD, you'll never know when you'd run out of space with a memory card.

Completely forgot about a memory card being an option.

I dont' have the internet at home. All my internet time is spent at work.

Well, without DLC to worry about, the only thing is the HD allegedley speeds up some loading times with cacheing some data. The only games I've heard it's been used with though are Oblivion and Halo3.

Oh, and unless you have a home network set up, no custom soundtracks either since you can't rip music to a memory card.

Without the internet and if custom soundtracks are of no desire for you, you may as well go for the Arcade and buy an HD when/if you get the internet.

Or buy the premium and take it to work, I'm sure they won't mind you hooking in to play some CoD4. :shifty:

I may get internet in a year or so, so maybe i should just get the pro version. It seems like a good choice whether I get it or not.

Yeah, the Pro version is essentially what I got. Console, 20 gig HD, Wireless Controller and GTA IV. I got it through EB Games for $368.

If you can afford it, Elite. If not, Pro. Settle for nothing less than Pro. And I say this to anyone who doesn't have an XB360.
