I really hate how every wrestler respects each other now

back in the old days (99) wrestlers (kayfabe) hated each other and would ambush backstage/during matches. you never see that now. you just see matches now with like no emotion other than "I want the title"

Yes, but How many guys turned heel "to get respect", and how many faces start their careers "to gain respect" from the vets? Sure, there are matches, but no serious feuds in the line of emotional investment, or personal grudges. It's a vast majority of disconnected bouts over the trophy. And that's not bad, now and then. But, considering the lack of investment from viewers seems to have grown in correllation to the lack of truly passionate battles, one might think it's time to rekindle the passion, as it were.

I can see what you're on about and believe its one of the problems in todays wrestling, partly due to Vince hiring writers who don't give a shit about wrestling.

I don't think it's so much that they don't care, but that they don't know. That's simply speculation, of course, but it seems a better fit.

It's a possibility. But I tend to think they don't know because they just don't know. I'm sure they'd rather focus on their own work than trying to emulate writers of the past, but that may be an artist thing and not so much an ignorance thing.

Thats why I liked the Undertaker/Edge program. The only time they were in the ring together and not getting it on was when there was a ladder in between them...and Taker was still circling it trying to get to Edge.

The problem is mainly related to the MONNNNAAAYYYYYY. Not the millionairemania thing.

You don't give away good matches on TV. Therefore only on PPV will the big singles matches happen. Therefore you have four weeks (on average) TV time to fill without letting those wrestlers meet one on one. Therefore they have to stand around and talk a lot to fill in. But when the alternative is a 4/6/8 man tag match with the current top players I'll take the promo. The only exception to the rule is a singles match which ends in a DQ. Like last night.

Last nights raw had no promo's at all oher than Jericho / HBK. But its the 60 second throwaway segments that usually are the most enteratining.

The sad thing is that occasionally they'll throw in a really good raw (Almost always the first Raw off a PPV I note) and show they can still do it.

But the segment that stands out to me in recent memory is Kane / Lita at the 15th Anniversary. It was a throwaway segment, 45 seconds long and had me properly laughing for a good 5 minutes.

HARVARD GUY: Remarkable. It's not too violent, but it's just violent enough. And it'll give John a chance to act angry!
