Something I have been thinking of doing

Something that I have been thinking of doing is start reviewing Video games, I think it would be kinda neat to have a weekly, or twice weekly review of games, maybe a classics review, and a newer review

First of all, I dont intend to spam up the boards as I did with RTAM, so if this gets off the ground, I would ask if Trips could possibly make a sub-forum in the VG Forum to accommodate it.

Here is the biggest problem I have in doing this.

Im 20, so I havent played every game ever, I have not owned every system, and I dont have all the newer generation systems, so I would need fellow reviewers to help out with this. ( I would need someone who has a 360 or Wii, or both, or possibly a big gamer, who played alot of old games)

Thoughts anyone?

I remember someone had an idea to present games in a sort of dedication thread. I liked the idea but it never gained flight. Go for it, it could make for good material if you ever wanna take it further. IGN.com also lets you write reviews that gamers from around the world could read, just remember to use a Word program to save yourself some embarrassing errors you won;t be able to go back and fix...

Enough about me. What games would you review, big releases or whatever comes to mind?

I honestly dont know, I would want to do both classic and new system reviews, thing is, I dont have all the old systems, and I dont have all the new systems.

I could get emulators I suppose for the older games.

Thats not a bad idea, I could review all the games I have played so far, and since I still have a PS2 and a PS3 I could continue reviews for them, Thing is, I would like to have at least one more person to do this with me, someone with a 360, and a good knowledge of old games.

I could probably do some SNES and Genesis, definately the more recent stuff. Would we be doing this EGM style with multiple takes on one game? Or our we gonna split up on the games (I like the first idea). Say a game comes out that I'm totally gay over (DMC, Soul Calibur); my opinions just can't be trusted in those cases, and an alternate take would be useful.

It would be, problem is, I dont have a 360, so you could do 360 reviews, I could do PS3 Reviews, and we could both do older reviews.

I guess we could review older games, and we could review PS3 Games together, and I could cover PS2, I think we need one more person with a 360 Though, so you and he can both review.

Okay, but I must warn you that very few PS3 games come by here. We're getting MGS4 here pretty soon so I could cover that after I play through it.

Same, I think what we should do for games we dont have/that are just out/too expensive to get now is rent them.

So how's the system of distributing these reviews? One thread or seperate threads?

I dont know mang, I was thinking seperate threads to allow people to comment on the games themselves.

Are the deadlines loose or "done when they're done"?

Done when they are done, we could have many in the works, and once we both finish a game, then we can review it. Or we could each review a game from a different system.

Okay. I put plenty of time in those comic movie threads so I'm able to do a review here and there. So the format and score system... what do you have in mind?

Ok, well what I think is that we tell each other ideas about what we think we should review. Write up our review, commenting on points such as difficulty, controls, storyline, depth, fun, replayability, etc.

I have a Wii if you need Wii stuff reviewed. I've been playing through RE4 for the 2nd time and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals My Life As A King a lot so I'd like to reveiw one of those. If you need any reveiws of Wii games, I'm up for it. Also have a DS.

Older System include NES, SNES, Sega Master System II (dunno if it had a different name in the US), PS1, N64, GC, PS2 and the origonal GameBoy.

So I'd probably be useful on the Nintendo front.

Here is the plan

- Try to have at least one seperate review up a week, either on Wednesday or Saturday, or both.
-Try to have an all 3 review once a week
- Try to do different genres each time
- Try to do a different system each time
- Try to be unbiased towards it
- Try not to post spoilers in new game reviews
