View Full Version : ROH is going back to Japan.
What Would Kevin Do?

Good times. If ROH can get AotF Vs Speed Muscle, it will be greatness. Briscoes vs SHINGO and Yamato would be slick too. Aries vs GAMMA... Come on.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see Briscoes vs KENTA/Ishimori either.
ROH Returns To Japan
Saturday, June 14, 2008
Ring Of Honor will return to Japan this year for two events in Tokyo at Differ Ariake on September 13th and 14th. The first card will feature Dragon Gate wrestlers. The second show will have cooperation from Pro Wrestling NOAH. There will also be some other independent Japanese wrestlers on the event.
These will be authentic ROH events. Signed to be there on 9/13 & 14 are:
-ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness
-ROH World Tag Team Champions Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black
-FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong
-Bryan Danielson
-Jay & Mark Briscoe
-Austin Aries
-Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards from Sweet & Sour Inc.
Last year's "Live In Tokyo" and "Live In Osaka" events were a success with the live crowd in Japan and DVD buying audience. ROH officials want to thank all the fans for making another tour possible. We will have more news on the Japanese participants in the upcoming months. ROH is set to return to Japan with title bouts, grudge contests and dream matches. This tour will be bigger than ever!!!

Don't post this, WWKD. You know that posting this destroys the fantasy some people like to live in where ROH is a broke company without growth.
The tag team matches you listed would be awesome. Especially considering how much Tyler Black has been stepping it up recently.

Those are some stacked cards.
Kanemaru-Danielson is INTERESTING to the Nth degree.
I think McGuinness' reign could possibly be over with Jimmy Jacobs who they have excellently built up.
Not a long title reign, but beat McGuinness and drop it to Aries at GBH or Final Battle to round off the storyline.

Yeah, he was my draw to the company a few years ago, then I got introduced to Davey Richards. Love that guy. (mad under-used in RoH.)

i've said this before, but once i stopped going to the shows my interest kind of waned. i read up on it every once in a while, but i stay pretty detached since i don't have the cash to drop on tickets/dvds. god i miss going to those shows :(
i vow to start following more closely now, though, even if my only recourse is reading their faggot forum.

Looks like a pair of damn fucking good cards.
ROH World Tag Team Title Match
Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black defend vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe
If there is a Ring of Honor title change that weekend, I can see it being Jay & Mark Briscoe taking the ROH World Tag Team Titles from Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black. It's not that I don't like The Age of the Fall, but The Briscoes have been pretty successful in Japan, and the title change would make the fans happy. Plus, they could work an angle where Jimmy Jacobs sort of decides that he'd rather save energy for the next night where he challenges for the ROH World Title, which instills another rift between The Age of the Fall.
ROH's #1 Rivalry Comes To Japan (Non-Title)
ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness vs. Bryan Danielson
Bryan Danielson going over Nigel McGuinness would be a great way to set Bryan Danielson up as a credible challenger for the ROH World Title (not that he isn't already considered the best guy in ROH). It's also another major face victory on the show.
ROH Grudge Match
Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards with Larry Sweeney
The Grudge Match between Roderick Strong and Davey Richards should be really cool. Richards has more of the past in Japan, I think, so him going over could be a good nod to his Japanese experience. Richards is also pretty lost in the scheme of things. That being said, I think putting Strong over helps him look credible against Sweet & Sour.
Dragon Gate Rules Six Man Match
Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino & BxB Hulk vs. El Generico, Dragon Kid & ???
Oh yes, this match will rule. BxB Hulk and his dancers = me happy. I think putting El Generico, Dragon Kid, and whoever their partner is here is the right way to go. El Generico will be doing the job the following night, I think, and could use a win somewhere on the shows. If the other guy in the match is a Dragon Gate wrestler, too, it doesn't make the promotion look bad.
ROH vs. Dragon Gate
Austin Aries vs. Ryo Saito
Austin Aries is one of ROH's top talents, so him going over in the ambassador wars makes sense. The ROH vs. Dragon Gate matches will likely go 1-1, and as much of a push as Eddie Edwards has been getting, I can't see him being put over as ROH's star player for the evening.
ROH vs. Dragon Gate
Eddie Edwards vs. Yamato
This is where Dragon Gate evens the score with YAMATO getting an important win for Dragon Gate. Hopefully Eddie Edwards can start shining in the ring here, as apparently he has been nothing overly impressive.
ROH World Title Match (if McGuinness is still Champion)
Nigel McGuinness defends vs. Jimmy Jacobs
Jimmy Jacobs puts up an epic effort here, and looks quite valiant, but falls short, in my opinion. Hopefully this is a fantastic match, with Jacobs getting his ass kicked, and refusing to say die, then making a comeback and looking like he can pull it off.
GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title Match
Yoshinobu Kanemaru defends vs. Bryan Danielson
I cannot see the title changing hands, but if NOAH feels like, who knows? I mean, Bryan Danielson is recognised internationally as someone worthy of putting a title on. But yeah, after going over the ROH World Champion the previous night, Danielson fails to get the job done here. The ultimate bow from ROH to Pro-Wrestling NOAH.
Dream Tag Team Match
Naomichi Marufuji & Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. KENTA & Kota Ibushi
Fuck, this match will rock. Not too familiar with Katsuhiko Nakajima, but I assume he is awesome. KENTA & Kota Ibushi have been teaming for a while, I believe, so am I right in assuming they'd have better tag team chemistry, warranting the win?
Kensuke Office vs. ROH
Kensuke Sasaki vs. Roderick Strong
Kensuke Office is an awesome name for a promotion. Sasaki is representing his entire company here, and if he jobs to Strong, yes it makes Strong look fantastic, but his business is sort of stunted. Sasaki goes over here, in a fun, respectful match with Strong, who gets his win on the previous show.
ROH Grudge Match
Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black
I like Tyler Black, but I don't think he should go over here. This will be an awesome match, and Black will get to stand-out, and I feel that is all he needs to do. Aries keeps on his winning ways, and Black can sort of be the "feel good" member of The Age of the Fall.
Special Attraction Tag Team Match
Jay & Mark Briscoe vs. Takeshi Morishima & Davey Richards
I can actually see this match being made for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Who knows, maybe we can see two ROH Tag Title changes in two nights? The Briscoes deserve to go over here, though. Davey Richards going 1-1 and walking away with the ROH World Tag Team Titles, and Morishima adding the second ROH title to his resume would be pretty exciting stuff, though. Larry Sweeney could recruit Morishima to Sweet & Sour, and stipulate that Davey Richards only has to defend when Morishima is in town. Or Sweeney could work some magic, and negotiate Morishima allowing Richards to choose a new partner in Sweet & Sour, such as Eddie Edwards, Chris Hero or Adam Pearce.
NOAH vs. ROH
Taiji Ishimori vs. El Generico
Taiji Ishimori is a name I here a lot from Japan, so I can't see him losing here. Hopefully this is as awesome as I suspect it will be, and El Generico looks good in putting over the NOAH talent.
Bonus Match
Eddie Edwards vs. Kazushi Miyamoto
Not too familiar with Kazushi Miyamoto, but I haven't heard too much from him, and it sounds like this isn't being billed as a match for promotional pride, so Edwards going over is not out of the question. It's obvious Gabe wants to do something with him, so Edwards getting a win on the tour is not unlikely.

Kensuke Sasaki, isn't that the Iron-Claw STO guy who teamed with Rene Dupree and throught he was the sixth incarnation of Rick Rude?
If it's the same guy, I hope Roderick can carry him, or he has improved Tenfold.

That's exactly what they did with Tyler Black at Take No Prisoners II. They need to do something else. The blet could really make decension in AotF hit a new level and could be brilliant to watch. If Jimmy were to win he would need to ckicken shit a win, or do it under some special circumstance, that way it's not the same story as the The Black match with a different finish. But with my spoiler above there's a huge kink in that idea. Odds are Nigle is coming out with the belt. And it's probably for the better.

Well, if anyone can do it, it's The Age of the Fall. They can show up on PPV and be all "well, sorry ROH, but we don't play by your schedule."
