Anyone remember the teaser vignettes for The Dwayne?

I seem to recall them harping on about him being 3rd generation, and as a result, they would show him training in the ring, doing all these mad flips and and really athletic stuff.

Now, it is possible that I have made this up. BUt it seems quite vivid in my mind, so i'm not sure.

Also, if it is true, what the fuck happened?

His debut was at Survivor Series 96, where he was the sole survivor in the match.

So, before that. :D

The crowd hated his oversmiling, generic good-guy persona.

And that answers why he changed his wrestling style how?

The last time the Dwayne did the nip up was during a fight scene in the Rundown. He used to do high cross bodys and nip ups and the like as a young Rocky.

I think he became more ground-based when the crowd turned on him as part of his heel turn.

Yeah I remember him being interviewed and JR kept calling him a "Blue Chip". Also I hate the word "Nip Up". Sounds like it should be said when a Diva's nipples are out. I don't know why JR keeps saying that since it's actually called the Kip Up.

Do you even need to ask why his wrestling style changed?

Fabien Barthez

Yes

Did you even need to ask that question?

I imagine because his high-energy, exuberant style didn't quite fit in with his repackaged arrogant, cocky, "I'm so much better than you" attitude. The stuff he had been hyped with fit in much better with his "I am here to entertain you" persona than it did with his "fuck you, I'm too good for you and shouldn't even have to be here" persona. Someone who is that cocky and smoooooooth doesn't have to do leaps and flips to win a match, because he doesn't give a damn about entertaining the audience.

The only match like that I remember seeing him performing those moves is Wrestlemania 13 against The Sultan. It's quite funny looking back on it.

Lol, Rock's goodie 2 shoes pussy gimmick was so retarded, no wonder people were chanting die rocky die, you young kids out there watch some 96/ early 97 rock footage and take some notes, THAT is how to get the level of heat where people want u dead.

His style changed because he got better. Simple as that.

What if the Dwayne had his character that he had in Southland Tales, either or?

Yes, considering I can't imagine someone needing it answered for them.

Yes, considering I can't imagine someone needing it answered for them.

I was simply gauging the opinions of others. I understand the notion of hard hitting heels over smiley jumpy babyfaces, but generally, those who can, even with the cocky persona (HBK, Y2J, RVD to name a couple) face or heel, do.

I just want to know why he drop the style completely. When other's don't.
