Whilst it is my opinion that all the new announce teams seem to work very well, one thing that stands out. Mick Foley. He's a brilliant announcer IMO. He and JR play off each other very well. His knowledge of wrestling surpasses probbly everyone on this board. His announcing is entertaining and informative at the same time. I was unsure about Foley as an announcer at first but he has proven to be solid gold at the desk.

I also prefer Foley / JR to JR / King

Anyone else agree?

Not having anyone knock Michael Cole tonight either because he did a fine job.

See my winners and losers of NOC on that thread. I say that Foley is talki ike a walking wrestling dictionary. I'm very surprised about how much he knows and how much better he makes JR (JR needed a change-up).

In my mind, JR/Foley do pretty well together, Cole/Lawler impressed me last night at NOC (not so much Cole, because I knew he was alot better than he gets credited for, but for the King in not trying to bury Cole. As long as the King doesn't go on this "I must bury you with JR's legacy" thing, it'll be fine) and I think Cole should get this chance to be on RAW for a while, and Adamle/Tazz has their best night last night and the Adamle screw-ups are actually getting him over somehow (like I said before, that whole "this announce thing/table" banter was funny and awesome and was creepy that Mike was pulling a page from Tazz's old commentating playbook there in explaining his "non-mistake", since Cole and Tazz did that stuff all the time when they were doing SD together, just the roles were reversed). I haven't watched RAW yet because I just got home and I'm waiting for the show to be over so I can watch the whole thing on my DVR, but hopefully my viewpoint of Cole/King held up into RAW!

I'll need to listen to Foley a few more times (so I can have a more concrete opinion of him), but for right now, I think that guys like JBL and Tazz are superior. To me, Foley doesn't sound "energetic" enough. We'll see though - Foley is just starting out, and I haven't heard him a whole lot. We'll see what happens.

I love Mick Foley as a commentator. When he's talking, I actually listen. His commentary adds to the match, and you don't go over with your own stuff. Now if only we could get JBl back to doing color, as well.

Cole / Lawler was pretty good last night. Easily the best commentary team in WWE at the moment. JR / Foley may improve, but what I heard on Friday was JR being dragged into doing his job. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the Adamle / Taz pairing at the moent, but it would be very nice to see Adamle improve a bit. Adamle just needs to learn a bit and calm down, he already has a great voice and great energy.

I really just wish JR would retire though. Cole / Lawler on Raw, Josh Matthews / Foley on SD and Taz / Improved Adamle on ECW would be a very solid WWE announce team.

When you were talking about JR not being with it on SmackDown!, Josh Mathews as a potential replacement is immediately what I thought of. Mathews and Foley would make a tremendous duo, in my opinion. Both have wealths of wrestling knowledge, but neither is very similar. Foley was a hardcore wrestler, and a main eventer in the WWE, and Mathews wrestled a total of one WWE match, I believe, and would have been more of a cruiserweight worker. The two would blend styles and appreciation for the business very nicely, I feel.

Mathews would make a great play-by-play man, as he has character, and he knows how to call moves.

The only thing is that I wish Joey Styles & JBL got to work together at least once, even though Styles' commentary days are behind him. The two handling RAW would be tremendous. Michael Cole and Tazz working together would be great, and their cult atmosphere would work great in ECW.

I hate to cut Mike Adamle's work and improvement from him as a commentator, but I'd like to see a man being paid that much being used for more. Mike Adamle: Heel manager, Jamaican us crazy!

I should think so, yes. I should think that 20 yr veteran, former WWF Champion Mick Foley has a better knowledge of wrestling than a bunch of fans sounding off on a message board.

Michael Cole has really mastered the art of hype and selling a moment as huge without sounding like he is having an orgasm and seizure at once. The only thing that bugged me was that King & Cole called the WHC the World Championship. I just loved when JR would announce "Heavyweight Champion of the World", "Heavyweight Champion of this world", "World Heavyweight Championship", and so on. It just seems more important than just calling it the World Championship.

I hope Adamle does the same he did at NOC. He's getting better IMO and now it seems he just calls out the regular stuff and Taz goes into detail which I prefer hearing.

Hmm, I wonder if they are doing it because CM Punk is technically a cruiserweight? Back when Rey Mysterio won the World Heavyweight Title, they actually changed the name to "World Championship" officially for his reign. Then King Booker won the belt, and it went back to being World Heavyweight Championship.

I hope they keep it World Heavyweight Championship.

Yeah, listening to Cole/King last night was rather refreshing. As was the whole show.
