Hardcore/Metal/Rock
Good friends with these guys, saw them many times downtown, and most of them went to my highschool, if you like dirty breakdowns and shout outs, these guys are sick

Really ambient rock, really kickass singer. The singer is my bud, he's been in many bands before that I've all loved because of him. They're really good at making good sounding music from the heart.

and yeah i already posted about my band im starting, check them out if you havent http://www.myspace.com/inskepsis

I posted about these guys a while back, and people weren't hot on their sound. Understandably, because looking back that sound wasn't really that great considering what I'm into now. Then their guitarist left for Greece for a few months and the bassist and drummer started their own project, which has turned into what the band is now all about since the guitarist returned.

The bassist is one of my best friends, and I hang out with him and the drummer/singer from time to time together. Some really cool guys who put out a really unique sound.

They have a basement recording up on the myspace, and this is a video of them playing live at a recent show they played. Fucking love their sound.. blues and rock, is a good way to put it.

That Diverse Attraction dude's voice is very nice. I'm not a huge metal fan, but your Skepsis song is pretty decent too, if somewhat hard to hear due to the unmastered...ness... of it all, but I think it would be quite decent when it's properly mixed and mastered and all that time-consuming stuff.

Fitzpatrick Incident weren't really my thing.

Anyway:

http://www.myspace.com/visitthemiddleeast
The Middle East
Now defunct indie-pop group that a bunch of us had all tipped as being the one Townsville band that could've made it out of there but they disbanded earlier this year, sadly enough. I played some trumpet for them on their album they released just before they broke up - it was really quite an ambitious little CD. They used a choir and a bunch of other guest musicians from other local bands. It was good times.

http://www.myspace.com/gulliverisland
Gulliver
Talented group of dudes about 3-4 years younger than the guys in my band and in the Middle East. Pretty jivey, indie pop with some nice post-rock elements from time to time. It's like Explosions in the Sky meets Minus the Bear. They've essentially grown up watching our bands (guys from the Middle East used to be in a hardcore outfit called The Grace Enlistment - we used to play shows with them when we were still in Decanting the Pride). Kind of flattered that they have us (as well as the Easters) listed on their influences.

We Are Buildings
My band. Experimental/indie/progressive/math/jive/funk rock. It's all over the shop. No two songs really sound the same, but they're all cohesively and identifiably Buildings. Sort of on a hiatus at the moment since I moved cities, though the other guys in the band (particularly the two guitarists) are very keen to move down and continue the lovin', so I guess we'll see what happens.

The Forest
Hardcore/prog group that started as our drummer's side project, but I guess he'll be focusing on it until we know what's happening with Buildings in a few months' time.

Inoke Errati. Went to high school with the drummer. Good ol' fashioned power pop. Myself and RDD are big fans. Check out "Jennifer" and "Pieces". They put on an excellent live show as well.

Neverending White Lights. This guy is getting pretty big in Canada. Getting some stateside attention as well. But I still see him at bars around here, which is sorta odd. Really dramatic, gothy songs, with various vocalists. So fucking good.

it makes me feel so terrible to be out of the local music scene even though it has devolved into nothing but bullshit. it used to be so much fun around here.

The Beat Union
The bassist is one of my girlfriends best mate and are currently on the Warped Tour, which is great for an English band, Just released their first album, which was produced by the Goldfinger guitarist. Quite poppy, melodic, mixed in with a bit of punk and that current vibe of english music. The bassist used to be in Farse who used to be quite big.

Mates of mine from uni, who are now signed to a label called Big Scary Monster records. Quite experimental indie music, I'm rubbish at explaining how peoplw sound. I'm guessing Mitch may like them.
