I want to watch a movie now, and have a list to draw from next time. How about some suggestions with small synopsis/plot outlines of movies that I should view.

Please. :)

Conversations with other women

Hans Canosa makes a strong debut with Gabrielle Zevin's intelligent screenplay (read two character dialogue) CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER WOMEN and while some viewers may be distressed about his choice of use of the split screen presentation, Canosa's decision to be the editor of the film makes a strong argument for his artistic decision. We are able to not only see ell sides of the characters physically, but we are also allowed to step into the 'private space' created by each of the characters, a space that grows in meaning as the film proceeds. For this viewer it enhances the story.

It would be difficult to imagine two finer actors than Helen Bonham Carter and Aaron Eckhart to pull off this story. Bonham Carter has flown in form London as a last minute replacement bridesmaid for an old friend and is bored by the wedding until she encounters Aaron Eckhart whom we soon learn is the bride's brother. But coincidences don't stop there: soon the couple decide to have a night together and as they begin to share their current uncomfortable lives...(edit) but to say more would ruin the repartee that these two brilliant actors enjoy playing against each other.

Canosa manages to create a solid interplay between his actors and then capitalizes on the gifts of each by placing them in simultaneous and revealing views that more that provides his rationale for using the split screens as his technique. Bonham Carter is more beautiful than ever and proves she is one of our finest actresses on film, seen far too seldom these days. CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER WOMEN is a sly look at relationships that slowly creeps up on you as you learn the secrets of each character. It is a fine piece of film-making! Grady Harp
It's one my favorite movies, and no one has ever seen it. Aaron Eckhart and Helen Bonham Carter dialoging for liek two hours. It's awesome. The whole movie is showng through spilt screen with one screen on the man and one on the woman. It's really fantastic. (You probably wouldn't like it but I wanted to plug it.)

Welcome to the Dollhouse

Yellow Submarine

They are all freaking great. Any one you choose will be a good choice. You should watch every single one of them in fact. Out of the ones you listed...

- COMEDY
Living in Oblivion - Steve Buscemi tries to direct an indie movie but everything keeps going wrong.
The Naked Gun - Come on.
Swingers - Swingers.
The Ten - I love this fucking movie. It is such stupid/surreal humor. 10 diff stories based on the 10 commandments.
Wet Hot American Summer - Same director/writers as above. One of the funniest movies ever imo. Real "silly" humor.

- WEIRD/trippy/fucked up
Audition - The last half hour is the most fucked up shit ever. First half is good but slow, but then it just gets insane.
Barton Fink - My god I love this movie. It is slowly paced but so fucking perfect I can't even describe it. Also, John Goodman.
Blue Velvet - David Lynch. Dude finds an ear on the floor, then tries to solve the mystery behind it. If anything watch it just for Dennis Hopper's performance/character.
Dead Ringers - Identical twin gynecologists. One confident, one shy. They get addicted to drugs. Everything gets fucked up and bizarre. David Cronenberg movie.
Eraserhead - It is Eraserhead. David Lynch movie. Weirdest shit ever. You will either love it or you will hate it and not understand why people like it. It is one of the best movies ever though IMO. Amazing mood it sets. Creeps me out.
Eyes Wide Shut - Kubrick's last movie. It's gonna be hit or miss for you. I love it so much and Kubrick says it's his best movie so who is everyone to argue with him.
Freaks - Yeah like you described. Love this movie so much. I watched it like 5 times in a week the first time I saw it, couldn't get it out of my head.
Mulholland Dr. - David Lynch. Weird as fuck movie. Makes no real sense. Lesbian sex.
Open Your Eyes - Most perfect concept for a movie ever. Great looking guy, has everything, has accident, his face gets fucked up, nobody likes him anymore.
Run Lola Run - Story is told 3 different times, with 3 diff outcomes each time. It's cool.
Vanilla Sky (remake of Open Your Eyes. Both are good. Original is prob better)
Yellow Submarine - Yellow Submarine bro. Trippiest movie ever.

Blood Simple - First Coen brothers movie. Love it. Guy hires a hitman to kill his cheating wife.
Boogie Nights - One of the most perfect movies IMO. About the PORN industry.
Lilja 4-ever - saddest movie I've ever seen. Amazing. You have to watch this.
Dog Day Afternoon - Al Pacino. Classic.
Glengarry GlenRoss - Incredible. Incredible. You have to watch it.
Goodfellas - It's Goodfellas. Watch it.
Happiness - Most fucked up movie I've ever seen. I love this fucking movie so much it's unbelievable. In my top 3 fav movies probably. Darkest humor possible.
Kids - AIDS
Paths of Glory - Best war movie I've seen besides Full Metal Jacket. Kubrick also directed this.
Show Me Love - same director as Lilja 4-ever. Amazing also.
True Romance - Written by Tarantino. It's great. Watch it.
Welcome to the Dollhouse - Same director/writer of Happiness. About a nerdy girl. It is good.

If I had a favorite movie list it would probably look a lot like Triple A's. I like the Barton Fink love as I feel like it is constantly overshadowed by Lebowski. I got it from the library and watched it not knowing it was a Coen brothers until I realized it featured their regulars.

I have been very busy lately, and not managed to watch them, but my girl and I decided to try to watch a movie everynight.

So far we watched American Beauty which I really liked, the plot twist at the end was very nice and unexpected, I love when a movie does that.

she wants to watch the sex in city movie next, after that I think we are watching "Conversations with other Woman"

Movies that haven't been mentioned:

Diner
In The Company of Men
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
Falling Down
Leaving Las Vegas
Night Shift
The Cooler

Those are the movies I have rated above 7 on IMDB that haven't been mentioned or aren't REALLY well known.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Falling Down, and The Cooler are great too, yeah. I also love In The Company of Men but I would never recommend it to anyone. Way too "slow" and way too much dialogue for most people to like. I have tried and everyone hated it.

Leaving Las Vegas was ehh. I remember watching Diner like 8 years ago but don't remember anything about it for some reason. Never seen Night Shift.

Yeah I'm not too sure of his taste in movies or anything. I remember you recommending In The Company of Men a while back and it was the goods. It's not for everyone though.

Also, Night Shift is one of the most underrated comedies of all time. Michael Keaton was GREAT in it. The man can be a brilliant comedic actor when he wants to be.

"PROSTITUTION! But what does that mean really? Sometimes it helps to understand a word if you break it down, so let's do that now shall we? Pros... it doesn't mean anything, you can forget about that... Tit, I think we all know what that means, Tu, two tit and TION of course, from the Latin to shun... to say uh-uh no thank you anyway I don't want it, to push away... it doesn't even belong in this word really."

Triple A do you rent your movies or have some place online where you watch them or waht is your typical movie veiwing affair?

Triple A

When I worked at a video store I would just watch a bunch of movies there or take them home.

Then I started using Netflix a lot when that came out. I got that and burned a bunch of DVDs from there.

Also my library system is the greatest ever and has like literally almost every DVD ever made. I can go online and have them reserve it and they will reserve it from the entire Westchester Library system which includes like 100 libraries around here, then I can go pick it up from my local library. So I always go rent like 15 DVDs at a time for free from the library. Tons of rare shit and everything.

Or I will download it. Lately I have been doing that ever since I found out my Xbox can play them on my TV.

But like 90% of the movies I have seen have been viewed on VHS from my video store or the library.
