View Full Version : Mike Levy incident

In mid June there was a thread on the CZWFans message board promoting IWA Deep South's upcoming death match tournament in October. One of the wrestlers announced for the show was "The White Lion" Mike Levy. Once a picture of Levy, as well as a couple matches, were posted on the board, many fans were sarcastically praising Levy as an amazing wrestler.

Levy is a North Carolina based wrestler who has very little actual training and works primarily for very small independent groups doing a hardcore style. In the matches posted on the internet he appears to have little regard for his own safety, let alone the safety of his opponents. Mike Burns suggested they use Levy as a funny little nod to the mock popularity he had received of late, which was a poor show of judgment on his part.

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon's show. Mike Levy was booked as a replacement in a woman's tournament with the angle being he wanted to prove himself in death matches and wanted in the death match tournament, with Ian Rotten agreeing to his request but saying he'd have to do it in the woman's tournament. He faced Mickie Knuckles (Total Nonstop Action's Moose) in a fans bring the weapons match.

During the match Knuckles and Levy began to exchange shots that increasingly became stiffer. Levy eventually gave Knuckles a head butt between the eyes that gave her what was described to me as a bruise/bump the size of a golfball and the situation quickly deteriorated from there. Eventually the match ended with Knuckles winning, however that was not the end of the incident. After the match several members of the IWA Mid-South roster entered the ring and began assaulting Levy in what was described to me as a "gang style beating" that included weapons that were in the ring for the match. Even Ian Rotten's pre-teen son got involved in the melee. The beating was described to me by someone as "the worst beating they've ever seen" which covers a lot of ground considering some of the things they've seen.

There was some speculation among fans on the internet that this was in fact an angle, however that is not the case. Initially the reaction on CZWFans was excitement, however as the details of the brutality began to surface, thanks in part to posts made by IWA Mid-South commentator Ben Jordan, the response turned extremely negative.

Behind the scenes there were those who felt that he deserved what he got and they thought it was "great", while others used words such as "embarrassing" to describe the assault. For what it's worth Levy went to the locker room and was apparently marking out over it all, not realizing what exactly had gone on or simply didn't care. In my opinion that doesn't excuse what happened, though there are those who seem to be using that to do so.

The bottom line is that Mike Levy should never have appeared on the show, and no one should have been surprised when he ended up being unsafe. Someone who is barely trained, and thus does not know any better, certainly does not deserve to be beaten in such a manner, and any incident that did occur should not have taken place in front of the crowd. Regrettably this situation has overshadowed the rest of the weekend's festivities, which are annually among the IWA's biggest shows of the year.

It appears that the incident is going to be turned into an angle, as Levy has been told they'll be bringing him back. Whether or not that happens is uncertain. Levy attended the evening's event as a fan, and is reportedly excited about the possibility of coming back.

Anyway, promoter's fault (and any promoter who would bring in someone KNOWING they're inexperienced is just a fucking moron) but I have no sympathy for Levy.

The promoter (Ian Rotten) was in on the after match beating, and the one whispering into Mickie Knuckle's ear before the match.

Wow. That was absoloutly ridiculous. Not a single one of those pieces of shit should be anywhere near a wrestling show, let alone be allowed to call themselves part of the business. Shouting 'learn to fucking sell' at a guy in front of your audience? Smart move dipshits. Then again, I wonder about the kind of fan that goes to these 'wrestling' shows.

Ian Rotten is a fat talentless fuckwit who never amounted to anything in the business other than being a poster boy for everything that is bullshit about so called 'hardcore' wrestling. And after the product he puts on and how 'hardcore' he apparently is, there are then complaints that Mickey Knuckles got a boo-boo on her forehead just 'cause she's works on national TV?? Get the fuck out of here. They book that Mike Levy guy, knowing he's shit and then they pound on him...because he's shit. Real big, tough men right there making a whole lot of sense. Pathetic.

A Fat Has-been (ANd I use that very loosely) beating a naive newbie for his own enjoyment is fucking HORRIBLE!

And though it may have been an angle and he may have even known what was gonna happen, he'd have had no idea it was gonna be that intense and they basically did it for kicks. Like I already said, real tough guys.

What a fucking dump of a promotion. Is that in a backyard of a VFW? How do they make any money? From the 3 guys that are there, leaning against the Dressing room/American Legion?

Okay, so I watched the whole thing. She sells even less than he does yet she's a professional with a contract with the 2nd biggest company in North America? Then again, that's probably why she didn't sell. He takes a beating I can understand in the actual match. She takes some liberties (and looks horrendous whist doing it) but nothing omg terrible and I guess it could be viewed as a 'pay your dues' type thing. After the match is still ridiculous though. Also, after seeing Rotten's promo at the start, I think he's an even bigger twat. He's all business then which is fine but how sly he is after that is pathetic. If Levy would have gotten up and glassed Rotten in the throat, he'd have deserved it

That was hard to watch. Why was he even booked if he had such little experience? It's somewhat the promoter's fault for booking him. He stiffed Moose big time, he deserved to get stiffed big time, but not get the shit kicked out of him like that.

Honestly, if I was him I'd take both those guys (and the other gut who hit him the kendo stick) to court.

It was a bad match, but for all we know the post-match beating could have been something like the I Quit match between The Rock and Foley. Mick knew he was going to be handcuffed and beaten with the chair, but he didn't expect The Rock to go apeshit on him.

On one hand the post match beating was uncalled for. That kind of action isn't cool. However, on the other hand he could be the next huge thing to come down wrestling's pike. Hell, some guy broke Hulk Hogan's leg in his first match. :shifty:

But at least Mass Transit sold!!!!...but I'm sure being in the ring with a crazy mother fucker like New Jack it couldn't have been selling....

Somewhere, Nick Mondo is crying his eyes out. Not out of sympathy for this idiot...but because he wanted to be the one on the recieving end of that beating.

Then he goes back to restocking the shelves.

Whilst I agree that Mike Levy is an idiot for doing what he did when he had no experience, Ian Rotten is a total jackass in all this and I hope the kid took/takes him to court over this.

They flew him in "as a joke", so they were all in on it. It was nothing more than a gang mugging. Those two stomps off the rope were fucking horrendous. Like CSLi Manning said, Rotten and his associates are a bunch of talentless fucks who think they're "the business", but are just a fucking waste of space. They're shit in the ring and trying to live off of their ECW fame which is pretty much zilch. The whole "Learn to sell" thing is absolutely pathetic.

Man that video is appalling. When that guy's trying to crawl away and their threatening to cut his balls of if he moves... seriously this guy so sue.

I'm ashamed of you Destor. :nono:

As far as peple bitching about Levy's inexperience, two things: Levy wanted the book and how else do people get experience other than working matches? Is there a set time it would have been ok for him to get the booking? Kinda rediculous thing to say guys.

This was wrong what they did to that rookie, but this video does remind me of something the WWE has been missing for a long while.

A hardcore division.

Sure, the division they had was noy that good, but at least it was a little bit of something different.

I think WWE can BOOST ratings if they bring in some REAL hardcore wrestling like CZW and sign a bunch of CZW guys. Maybe have a CZW invasion of RAW like when ECW invaded RAW before ECW was taken out of business. It would make for good TV, just CZW guys running in and brutalizing raw superstars with weapons and then the raw guys get weapons of their own and the show ends with the two sides in a massive hardcore brawl.

This would be a very smart choice, it would benefit both sides.

CZW would benefit from the exposure and WWE can pick up and build a REAL hardcore division and get what they have been lacking for years.

I have to replies to this one. The short one and the long one. First the short one:

Nick Mondo, is that you?

Now the long one:

Nick Mondo, is that you? I can't believe they let you have internet access during your breaks at Blockbuster. But come on, that's RETARDED!

Seriously, the only way that would happen is in a way that makes Mike Levy look tame. The CZW-Tards come out, then come the following 4 people: Finlay, Regal, Bob Holly, and JBL. It would be a massacre... and the CZW guys would actually sell the ass whipping they'd receive for a change.

One of the sickest videos of this kind I've seen. Not surprised it's getting deleted from video sites, found it elsewhere. The guy is clearly green as shit and shouldn't have been booked, never seen this woman before, don't quite know why she's in TNA - and if she is, why's she performing with below-par performers. She's a fucking idiot too.

If he goes back however after they try to kill him, then he fucking deserves it.

If they bring in CZW and they do CZW shit, then they won't have a network within a week. Moronic idea from a moron. None of these fuckers deserve any exposure beyond YouTube and a McDonalds car park.
