I was just going over a thread before about Mankind and how awesome he was etc. I also caught his promo with Edge on Smackdown last week which was simply amazing. And I also am in the middle of Mankind: Have a Nice Day which is of course Mick's first autobiography, I've already finished Hardcore Diaries which is his third autobiography.
By the way if you haven't read any of his books I highly recommend you go out right now and purchase all of them. The man can write like I have never seen before, its almost as if you were there watching everything happen.

So anyways I'm thinking, what the fuck, the genius of Mick Foley needs its own thread. Post your thoughts, videos, favorite bits etc here and lets appreciate the three personalities of Mick Foley.

P.S Just realized this is also my 1000th post, woot woot.

TL I'm almost certain Mick Foley will come out to the ring for one more match before his career is over.

Mick's first book was really good. His second book was really good even though he went on a few rants. I returned his third book after a couple of chapters. It was pretty bad, and seemed like a cash cow book.

Mick's initial return to wrestling, feuding with Randy Orton, was amazing. His match at Backlash proved he still had it, but he probably should have left it at that. Other than his match against Edge at Wrestlemania, everything else he's done has pretty much been forgettable until he started announcing.

He's been a good announcer, but still needs some improvement. I hope he sticks with it.

Whatever you do, don't mention that match with Ric Flair. Yikes.

I never actually saw the Flair match, was it that bad?

Is Hardcore Diaries any good? I've read a few chapters of it and couldn't get into it. His first two were fantastic though.

Hardcore Diaries didnt have enough wrestling in it for my taste. It seemed kinda preachy in bits, too.

I enjoyed Hardcore Diaries but I think thats probably due to the fact that I read it first and am only half way through Foleys first book.
Also the only reason I'm watching Smackdown is because of Foley.

As much as I love his first two books, I just can't seem to get into reading Hardcore Diaries either

I have been reading Hardcore Diaries for about a year and a half now. I guess it's not the most engrossing book

Off topic - but is Controversy Creates Cash any good? I got those two together as a package deal while ordering off wwe.com. I haven't touched it yet and I'm not sure if I want to as my experience with ghost written books isn't that great ie. Shawn Michaels' book.

Controversy Creates Cash is quite a good book to read. Not sure if it is factually accurate, but it's not quite as boring as HBK's book

It's not accurate. Plus I couldn't take Bischoff's word seriously at all when he talks shit on sheet writers and during his whole run, he was on the phone to Dave Meltzer and was all over his show after he finished in the company.

I just started watching it for the first time.

It starts off with a bang, but that's it.

Flair makes some sexy noises 9:15 into the video.

I loved the Foley/Flair feud, it was the best thing on TV at the time and the reason for me to watch. I never did wind up seeing the big blow-off match because I didn't want to order a PPV for just one match.

EDIT - Just watched the match. It wasn't that bad for what it was.

Loved the way he retired.

hated his WM return for the 4 way.

loved him as Commish

Loved him in the Orton Feud (The guy basically makes orton IMHO. Trade him out with anyone else, and Orton never hits the big one)

Hated everything else he has done. Feud with Edge was shit. Team with Edge was shit. Cut some good promos with Flair, thats it.

Like him as an announcer. Had he stayed away from the end of Orton to the start of announcing, I would love it.

Loved the hardcore tag match Foley was in at One Night Stand 2006. His promo before the match was great.

Apparently Foley did ask to be removed from the SmackDown! announce team. His position with the company is still unknown.

If Foley leaves, I'd mark for him returning to ROH. Yeah, I said it.

Have a Nice Day and Foley is Good were both great reads.

Hardcore Diaries, not so much. WE GET IT! YOU DO CHARITY WORK!

You know, I never want to see Foley in anything but definitively one-night only appearances. I'm starting to hate him for showing up, being entertaining, then leaving. He actually managed to cancel out JR's total uselessness on Smackdown... now the show is probably going to be watched on mute in my house.

Basically I don't ever want to be led to believe that he's going to be around long term, ever again.

Pretty much sums up everything I feel about Foley.

I liked his first two, Hardcore Diaries wasn't too bad, but I didn't enjoy it as much.

Oh come on, the ONS match was the goods, and the match with Edge at WM23 was awesome. Edge looked so fucked up after that, they had the angle revolving around it being Foleys big mania match but really it was Edge's.

Ok the lead up to those matches was odd when they did the Foley heel turn and were lackluster, but the payoff matches were superb.
