I think I used to do these a lot and I didn't do one last year and the Giants won the Superbowl, also something about wearing a blanket during the game, don't do that, cause I think they lose when I do that

My grandfather is fuckin retarded and used to be the biggest Giants fan and he would go to every single game cause he had incredible season tickets, now he believes that he is cursed and that the giants will LOSE whenever he watches them, so he doesn't watch them anymore, he didn't even watch the Superbowl, but he still loves them, so I dunno.

So you not making predictions had an impact on the Giants winning the Superbowl? Do people realize how ridiculous they sound when they say stuff like this?

Not sure if I've done NFL Predictions before. I'll give it a whirl:

NFC East
1. New York Giants: I dunno, I really just wouldn't feel right going against my team.
2. Dallas Cowboys: If the Giants don't win the division, the Cowboys will. Gonna be close. Whichever of these two doesn't make it will prolly make the playoffs as a wild card.
3. Washington Redskins: I'm really not sold on the Skins. I think we'll be seeing some Colt Brennan this year, but I like their chances better than the Eagles.
4. Philadelphia Eagles: McNabb and Samuel are both prolly gonna get hurt. Just a feeling.

NFC North
1. Green Bay Packers: I think they have enough to make it, even without Favre.
2. Minnesota Vikings: Likely canidate for the other wild card playoff spot.
3. Detroit Lions: Really think they'll be a bit of a surprise this year. Not quite there for the playoffs but their offense will gel better now that Mike "fuck it, go deep" Martz is gone.
4. Chicago Bears: Grossman sucks. Orton sucks. Hello 4th place.

NFC South
1. New Orleans Saints: The Saints looked primed for a big year I think. I think they'll win this division fairly easily.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Eh the Bucs don't seem all that good to me for some reason. They'll prolly only have a game on the Panthers because Smith will be gone for 2 games and it'll cost them.
3. Carolina Panthers: See Bucs. Not all that good.
4. Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan and Michael Turner aren't gonna be enough to avoid the cellar in this division.

NFC West
1. St. Louis Rams: I'm thinking a huge bounce back year for the Rams here.
2. Seattle Seahawks: A solid team, should contend for the wild card.
3. Arizona Cardinals: Another possible wild card contender...a bit underrated I'd say.
4. San Francisco 49ers: Easily the worst team in the division. Even Frank Gore being awesome won't be enough.

AFC East
1. New England Patriots: Prolly the biggest no brainer out of all these predictions.
2. New York Jets: Will contend for a wild card spot.
3. Buffalo Bills: Really not all that bad, might only wind up one game behind the Jets or something.
4. Miami Dolphins: Total rebuild year again...I expect all 3 of their QBs to see playing time. If they all suck then I can see one of them getting traded for a low pick and them drafting Tebow in their next attempt at finding a franchise QB.

AFC North
1. Pittsburgh Steelers: If Big Ben can stay healthy, I'd have to tab them as the favorites.
2. Cincinnati Bengals: I'm looking for somewhat of a bounceback year here.
3. Cleveland Browns: Wouldn't shock me if they wound up at #2 tbh.
4. Baltimore Raves: Seem destined for last place as they try to get their QB shit sorted out. I think Flacco is gonna wind up being good though, their stock should be on the rise in 2009.

AFC South
1. Indianapolis Colts: The Jags are gonna be good again this year but you can't lay your money against Peyton Manning and Bob Sanders.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: A wild card spot seems rather likely.
3. Houston Texans: A bit of a surprise pick here, beating out the Titans by a game to avoid the cellar.
4. Tennessee Titans: Meh.

AFC West
1. San Diego Chargers: Tight race between them and Denver.
2. Denver Broncos: A close second, in the wild card hunt.
3. Oakland Raiders: Russell and McFadden are gonna gel real well I think.
4. Kansas City Chiefs: Meh.

Nervous Ferret
08-11-2008, 04:26 PM
I don't really see anything that definitely makes them stand out more than any other team in the NFC South :-\

Sure they almost went to the Superbowl two years ago and had a lot of shitty injuries last year but oh well, that is how it goes.

Kris P Lettus
08-11-2008, 04:44 PM
Starting RB is back to 100%.. Brees is pretty much perfect and is def one of the top QB's in the whole league let alone the NFC.. Hole on D have been filled nicely, including Vilma who should shine in out 4-3.. Sed Ellis is a beast and our pass rush will be immense.. Meachum is looking great and adding Shockey, who is a top 5 TE, will do nothing but open up routes for Colston, Patten, and Meachum.. Special teams look sick too with Lance Moore, Reggie Bush, and PT Cruiser, specially if they keep Skyler Green also..

Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-11-2008, 05:12 PM
Well I think most people see that Tampa Bay won the division last year and didn't really lose much, so it's understandable. I think the Saints, with the new additions and the fact that Deuce is healthy, (see how long that lasts?) should be able to wrap up the NFC South - however I dunno if I'd call people idiots for not picking them.

Speaking of the NFC South, Matt Ryan is going to tear it up this year. I watched almost every single college game he played in and he was one of the most NFL ready QBs I've ever seen. Not saying he is def gonna be the next elite QB or anything but I think he'll be able to produce right from the start. I see a lot of Falcon fans on a different messageboard saying they where unhappy with the Ryan pick, I am pretty sure they will be eating their words soon.

I don't think so. Maybe 1 or 2 games at the most. Matt Ryan will be the starter very quickly into the season if he isn't by week 1.

They named him the starter like 2 weeks ago..

With a (nother) new head coach, new RB, new QB, etc this is def a rebuilding year.. I don't think they'll really come out pushing Ryan to be great this year.. Not saying he won't be good in the future, just don't think it'll happen this year..

Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-11-2008, 10:06 PM
I don't know, I think he'll be starting pretty quickly. Redman only had 2 series against the Jags in the first preseason game and did poo, while Matt Ryan pretty much tore it up when given his shot against Jacksonville's first team defense. Falcons don't have much to lose by putting Ryan in really anyway and Redman is like a career 3rd stringer/guy who is constantly getting cut so it wouldn't make sense to me to leave Ryan on the bench. He isn't really the type of college QB that needs to mature or anything, I think he's ready to go right now.

Gonzo
08-12-2008, 11:27 PM
Ryan will be in at the starting quarterback position within 1 month of week 1. Count it. Also note, that even if Ryan tore it up against the Jags, they don't play anything but vanilla defenses in the preseason. He looks to have a ton of potential and I think he'll be a decent QB in this league. The Falcons have to support him though.

Exactly, you can make a good case for NO but you can make a good case for TB.

If the Saints stay healthy they should win the south, but counting on Duece and Shockey to stay healthy is a big "IF".

and Stima - gotta agree with Ryan, He'll be starting shortly and honestly with Atl picking up Turner this off-season thats a huge help. I also agree he's going to put up some numbers.

Kris P Lettus
08-14-2008, 11:49 PM
Shockey has missed one or two games every year, which isn't bad for a beast who has to catch passes over the middle and block DEs and LBs every play..

was addressing me only, I assumed it was anyone who didn't have the Saints winning the south.

Yeah, I really think the division is a crap shoot, I think ATL has real QB and they got what will be one of the best RB in the league, and if you have a RB who can put up 2000yds you'll be in most games.

As I said, I think it's a crap shoot, wouldn't shock me to see the division winner 8-8.

But who knows, last year at this time I was backing you up on the Saints going to the Superbowl.

Kris P Lettus

Turner is good, but assuring he'll run for 2000 yards this year is ridiculous.. He has never been an every down back and has yet to prove himself as such.. Plus the fact that their o-line is super suspect, and he'll be sharing carries with Norwwod, I think 2k is alittle bit of a stretch..

Also, calling Matt Ryan, and unproven rookie, a "real qb" is crazy..

Hey Ryan Leaf called, he wants his title back..

You know, pretty solid picks there. I think the playoffs won't pan out that way but still. :y:

I dont see how Tennessee is doing it. I expect them to get knocked off a couple of times before the season is over. I still think the Colts have a shot at the division. They're getting hot at the right time and they could just fuck around and run off the last 9 games of the season and get 12 wins. People might laugh, but look at there schedule. Its completely possible that the Ten vs Indy game on the last week of the schedule could mean something more then who gets into the playoffs. But Tennessee has to lose and they dont strike me as a team thats dominant.
