Yeah, so why do so many people have a deep seede hatred for the Black album, and everything after it?

I mean, I understand it's different than the earlier stuff. But the sheer hatred these albums get seems misplaced, as it's still good music. Lots of good songs in there. And S&M is just bad ass.

If someone says "Yeah the new stuff is alright, but I prefer the early work.", then thats fine. But most Metallica fans I meet want to stab the band in their throats for these albums.

Am I the only one who thinks these albums get undeserved hatred?

I am with you 100% hombre. Load and Re-Load weren't amazing by any standards but they had at least 3 good songs on each one. St. Anger was a little ridiculous but oh well. Black album was pretty awesomely great :y:

As a Metallica fan I must say I really do enjoy their earlier works much more then their newer.

The Black Album, seems to be the turning point for the band, where the songs took on a very different sound, and everything.

Load and Reload are regarded as being the lowest of the albums, along with St. Anger. I think this is because they all have some generally meh songs on them, and a few that are completely different from their old works.

Now, I don't hate any albums, but there are only a few songs per album on every album after Black, that I like compared to the entirety of the album of the older albums.

I think Reload is mad underrated. Lots of great songs on their.

Garage Inc., is also mostly great.

I will agree that St. Anger doesn't do much at all for me. The biggest problem for me is the purcussion. It's just really weird, and off-place.

St. Anger II will also be on there, and much plastic will be burned if I am right.

Dunno, it seems like they are all gonna be like 6-7 minute epics like the early stuff. Which is good, because even tho I'm defending the later work here, I still like pre-black better.

I like how that Suicide song sounded.

King Nothing
Until It Sleeps
Hero of the Day

Fuel

Some Kind Of Monster
Dirty Window
The Unnamed Feeling

I like 'em all. Even St. Anger is ok with me. I can understand why people don't like these albums, but I personally think they're all really good.

Also, I'm am sooooooooooo pumped for Death Magnetic. It's like if St. Anger was a step in the right direction, then this is them getting the fuck into it and releasing one hell of an awesome metal album.

Meh, I just far prefer the early stuff, and even with that I think a lot of it was overblown. I've said it before that I think half of the tracks on MOP were way too long, ditto Justice

Black Album is a great Metallic ablum, if not a little played out. Load and Reload are really good hard rock albums, but only decent Metallica albums. S&M and Garage Inc were nothing more than a good way for Metallica to make money while doing nothing. St. Anger happened after I gave up on Metallica.

S&M was awesome. And I really liked Garage Inc.

Black, Load and ReLoad were great albums. St Anger was a huge meh but grew on me a little bit after several listens.

Oh and I agree Unforgiven II > Unforgiven

I was just listening to Cyanide off the new album.. the videos are all over youtube. They performed it at ozzfest.

I like it. Its not exactly old school but its way better than st. anger so far.

i disagree. metallica peaked around ride the lightning and master of puppets. Justice was good too but not the same level, everything after is average at best. black album was saved by enter sandman.

it's simple.

pre black album = Thrash, you could say Metallica introduced THRASH METAL to a whole generation.

Post black album - NOT Thrash, hence, Metallica fans of old who LOVE THRASH dispise the new stuff.

get it?
