Haven't seen this posted yet.

The Sun posted a new article regarding "Stone Cold" Steve Austin possibly having a Ric Flair-style send off at WrestleMania XXV. Next year’s WrestleMania will take place in his home town of Houston, TX.

A WWE source told The Sun: "Austin wants to make sure that if he gets into the ring, it's not just to capitalize on his name. He wants to be the best performer on the show. If he can't live up to that, he won't do a match. If he can be the old Stone Cold, then you'll see him wrestle at Wrestlemania XXV."

Thoughts? I would fucking mark out.

I'll let someone else field this one.

That would be amazing, but to have a Flair style send off? isn't he supposed to be wrestling currently???

Austin vs. HBK it is

Austin vs HBK in a dual Career-ending match would be pretty epic (assuming HBK is on the verge of retirement - at least from active wrestling, which I wouldn't be surprised he is). The entire match is set on the pride in winning their last match in their home state.

Unless they bring back the Rock, fuck it.

I would love to see him go again. But I would want it to be a special match, and having him VS a big name just isnt enough after 5 years of retirement.

Yeah, let's put two men who haven't wrestled in over five years in a big match.

At least Michaels would be able to carry any ring rust Austin might have.

Though I'm not saying Michaels/Austin would be WM14 quality.

I know they would suck, but at lkeast it would have a much bigger feel to it.

Austin is goign to suck no matter what. But if you can jazz it up it would be amazing.

Flairs final match was great not because of HBK or the actual match, it was due to the fact that the single greatest ever was in his FINAL match after 30+ years in the ring. The Emotions made that shit.

Austin has already been gone 5 years.....so the "Last Match" kind of ruins its appeal. He already had his last match. Now this would be more of a one shot return.

So just having a match to have a match wont jazz it up. And of the guys on the roster, none have a great enough history to really work it.

When you think of his greatest adversaries, it is Vince, Bret, and The Rock. HBK and HHH have a history, but most people dont think of that right away. Their shit is mroe vague. When you think Austin, you think Vince. But who wants to see a 5 year retired near cripple and a 63 year old man go at it 10 years after they were on the top?

I don't see how a random Rock/Austin match could be better than a Michaels/Austin match with actual meaning, regardless of history.

Yeah as much as I heart The Rock, I'd rather see another HBK/Austin match

If Austin wrestles again...

I don't really mind who it is against as long as it makes sense, though Xero's idea sounds great.

Of course, The Sun is a joke.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Thank you for ruining Austins return, thank you for ruining what would have been my only mark out moment in a year.

WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU TYPE "SPOILERS" WHEN YOU TYPE WHAT THE SPOILER IS RIGHT BESIDE IT!!!!!!!!!

Now I know Austin is confirmed, he is my favourite wrestler, hearing his damn music hit would have made me mark out so bad, but no, you have to fucking ruin it, couldn't you make the title "Wrestlmania 25 major spoilers" alone? Seriously man, use your goddam brain. Why mark for spoilers when the spoiler is right beside where you mark for spoilers.

Fuck this shit, you're not the only one who does it, so many people do, i am out of the fucking wrestling forum besides for tipsters until Wrestlemania is over, see you all April fourth.

A Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. CM Punk match, with Austin passing the torch to Punk would be pretty epic. Punk as the heel that he was in ROH, Austin as everyone's favourite beer-swigging redneck.

The Shawn Michaels idea is not a bad one, but who would the fans be rooting for? The crowd would be electric, no doubt, but with the little time Michaels has left, it might be good if he put over other talent. The best thing about an Austin vs. Michaels match, besides the quality, would be the whole "Austin vs. Michaels kick-started the Attitude era in a big way" factor.

I like the Austin Punk Idea. But it'd need to be built up. Bring Austin in to manage someone, Have Punk tag with that person, then Punk makes his turn by injuring the guy and Austin gets pissed of course, the feud can build itself from there up to WM.

I think Austin Vs Vince, where the Rock runs in, and interfers ala what Vince did at Wrestlemania X-7, The Rock just stands there with a chair, looking at Austin laying on the floor, about to hit Austin, turns and levels Vince and leaves the ring.

I'd just have it start at say, Cyber Sunday, where Stone Cold Steve Austin is like the Special Guest Referee in the World Heavyweight Title match, or something. Punk retains his title against random heel (say, Randy Orton...I think he'll still be injured, but I'm just throwing it out there), and Austin then proceeds to help Punk deflect an uber-cheap heel attack. Stunners are thrown everywhere, and Austin then offers Punk a beer in the most match festivities. Punk just looks at Austin and walks out.

The next night on RAW, Austin bumps into Punk while he is doing a backstage interview, and Austin asks Punk why he was so rude as to decline his offer of a beer last night. Punk says he's not going to dignify that with an answer. Austin asks Punk what the hell is wrong with him, and Punk just sulks off.

Later that night, Punk beats someone, and then Austin comes out and gives them an extra Stunner, and he demands Punk has a beer with him, and celebrate the way champions should. Punk says he doesn't drink beer, and Austin needs to just get over it. Austin asks Punk what kind of man doesn't drink beer, starts mocking his straight-edge stuff, his clothing, his hair, etc. Punk then tells Austin that he never has been, and never will be specifically the World Heavyweight Champion, and has never held the belt that Punk holds, and that Austin should be showing him respect. Austin dares Punk to do something, and Punk puts Austin in the Anaconda Vice, as Michael Cole screams about the condition of Austin's neck. The referees and agents run out and separate the two.

From there you basically kick the feud up a bit, with Austin costing Punk the WHT at, say, Armageddon. Survivor Series could be an option if there is a title match, which there realistically would be.

As much as I love Punk, I wouldn't like to see him be the guy to go in with Austin. I personally, if it could be done properly, would like Austin/Rock 'one more time' kind of thing. But that is never gonna happen. If I had the book, I'd go with HBK, Edge or heel Cena. It would be billed as Austin's 'sendoff'/last match and Austin would go over. Hogan would be nice too but I just can't see the quality of that match being a fitting 'tribute' to Austin

Also, put him in the HOF and have Bret induct him. Austin/HBK, Michaels the heel, he could have Vince run interference for him. Bret makes the save, puts Vince in the sharpshooter. Be a mark out like a bitch moment but it'd take too much away from the whole point of the match, which is Steve Austin. Be nice though
