Soft? By what definition? He also went into the corners, he carried guys on his back while suffering the most abuse that no other player receieved, and yet he still dominated. Guys tried to knock him around and knock him off the puck, take him off his game, but he kept on trucking. Impossible to do so, just a fucking tank.

He did have a temper, but many guys have one.

Game 6 means more than game 3, and secondly, it's Hockey vs fucking basketball. Hockey being the most exciting sport going, and a manly man's game, while b-ball is played by a bunch of tall skinny faggots who act macho all the time yet cant play because their fucking finger got jammed.

Hockey, you break jaws, seperate shoulders..whatever...guys wanna go out there.

What, are you stupid. You are exactly why most Canadians piss me off. They have totally unfounded sense of entitlement that they're "better than Americans" simply because they're Canadian.

American fans have just as much "right" to enjoy hockey as Canadian fans. The fact that a large majority of the NHL's revenue comes from American fans too should be noted, since without them the NHL would not exist.

Also, just because you think basketball sucks doesn't mean every other hockey fan does. I enjoy hockey a lot more than I enjoy basketball but let's get serious. Prime time television, most people are gonna be tuning in to the NBA finals over the Cup finals. As much as it sucks for hockey fans, hockey is still a niche sport to most Americans.

There's just one thing I don't necessarily agree with you on, RDD. I believe that it should be pretty even for both Finals games, Stanley Cup and NBA, especially considering there's a TON of Detroit fans just hoping to see them be able to hoist the hardware tonight at the conclusion.

It seems as though you are having trouble comprehending something here. I'm all for americans watching and enjoying Hockey, no matter there location or how hardcore or not they may be.
What I do have an issue with is Bettman altering the sport and as a result pissing off the fans that have always been there, and liked the game the way it was, just so that he can try to expand the market, and to appease people who wont necessarily know any better or care that much...to them, Hockey is Hockey. Sadly, he caters to these people and yet they are off and on.
New jersey is a prime example of a market that irritates the hell out of me..winning seasons all the time, and close enough to Canada as is, yet they have trouble filling up half their arena. Then you've got the bandwagon of Carolina, raucous during the post season and yet where are they during the season?
I could care less if Basketball is on at the same time as Hockey. Bettman needs to stop worrying about that shit, because if people want to watch Hockey, they will. If not, well hey, move on, their loss.

That's true. A potential clinching game is always bound for more excitement, even from just casual fans. Whereas the NBA is just a game 3, where the next game will happen regardless.

I don't necessarily think it will be even, but it will be a closer split than what I originally said, undoubtedly. I suspect a lot of people will simply flick back and forth between the two.

I won't watch the NBA, which I know, being from Lansing, MI, and having gone to the very H.S. here in town where Magic played before moving on to MSU and later the Lakers, is practically sacrilege, but I just don't care for the team he played for or the one he founded. (L.A. or Orlando)...:-\

I honestly have no idea what are a charge is? I hardly ever watch hockey - just started following it a bit once the playoffs started.

Charging is a penalty in ice hockey. The NHL rulebook dictates that charging "shall mean the actions of a player or goalkeeper who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A 'charge' may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice." The infraction may warrant any severity of penalty or combination of penalties as the officials deem fit, including a major plus a game misconduct, or suspension if the infraction results in injury to the opposing player.

So, in that situation, Mr. Shuttlesworth, a player could get a 2 minute minor, a 4 minute double minor, a 5 minute major, or in extremely severe cases, a 10 minute misconduct (with or without ejection from the game, again depending on the severity of the nature of the charge, i.e. if the victim has gashes and blood flowing from everywhere, he's likely to be tossed.)

Regardless of what happens tonight, It has been truely a great series and one Hockey has needed. Just as last year, I wanna stand up for the Pens fans who get misrepresented in all this. Fact of the matter is this Detroit has the experience and the team depth, while the Pens have the younger legs and star power. I say whoever wins tonight will deserve it. No matter what the bickering between the two sets of fans has been I think we can all agree this will be one for the ages tonight.

IMO if Detriot wins the MVP should be either Zetterberg who has been amazing on Defense of Crosby this series or Osgood pretty much kept them in games where the Pens have outplayed them.

If Pittsburgh wins I know it won't happen but why not give it to someone like a Jordin Stall or Max Talbot. They have as many big goals this series as Malkin does.

Let's Go Pens and lets hope for a great game tonight guys.

Oh well. We came close, but for some reason Detroit just couldn't dig down deep and actually show up to play tonight. I take little solace in that "maybe next year" crap either right now...just feel like the Wings totally wasted this season.

Although, I must say there was quite a few exciting "opportunities" on goal for Detroit but that's not good enough when you're not scoring on some of them. I started whoopin' and hollerin' when the puck hit the top crossbar like, "YESSS!!!", but quickly got depressed again when I realized Detroit had not scored.

So check this out. I went to the grocery store to get some celebration food, naturally I put on my Pens Tyler Kennedy 3rd Jersey, one of the guys there doing stock says nice jersey, are you a friend of his? I say sadly no and ask him if he is. He says they grew up together, played hockey against each other. He tell me that growing up TK was dirt poor, couldn't pay for his own hockey stuff, he needed to get sponsors to keep him playing, that he basically worked his ass off to make it into JRs and then to make it into the NHL. This kid literally came from nothing, he never had the best hands or the b est shot or playmaking skills, he had determination, a hard work ethic and the old cliche heart. He just went on the ice and worked worked worked and I swear to you I almost broke down in tears right there in the store when this guy told me that. Tyler Kennedy is honestly just a great story. I am so amazingly happy for him.

Fuckin' A. I didn't think the Penguins would have the depth to match Detroit for game 7. They definitely proved me wrong, it was fantastic. Staal, Cooke and Kennedy's line was Pittsburgh best line all series, and it was awesome to see Talbot get those goals last night. I am going to be very very very happy all week seeing all the disheartened Wings fans around the city. I normally don't like to kick people when they're down, but I hate arrogant fans the most, and feel it's due. :y:

Fleury's last-second save on Lidstrom had me shitting myself though. INTENSE. Awesome game, awesome series, awesome season.

DETROIT (AP)—The Red Wings can accept that Pittsburgh is the Stanley Cup champion. Getting snubbed by Sidney Crosby (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/3737/;_ylt=ArD3PI16F36yoreE6_E9_JkmvLYF)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/3737/news;_ylt=AnCU13Xb5pMy6dJhHrPZxYYmvLYF) is another matter.
After watching Pittsburgh hoist the Cup on Detroit’s ice, the Red Wings lined up to shake hands with the Penguins as is custom in the NHL playoffs.
Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/78/;_ylt=Ao9JH03bXhQSWlchFRG3KT8mvLYF)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/78/news;_ylt=AghrgckSg1YQ39UIytq9s9AmvLYF) was up front, followed by alternate captain Kris Draper (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/197/;_ylt=ArjMK70DsShPojPvi7tQDXcmvLYF)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/197/news;_ylt=AtOh1MyRmfwpwt4zocueNSImvLYF), congratulating many of the new champions while waiting for Pittsburgh’s captain.
“Nick was waiting and waiting, and Crosby didn’t come over to shake his hand,” Draper told an Associated Press reporter a couple hours later as he was leaving Joe Louis Arena. “That’s ridiculous, especially as their captain, and make sure you write that I said that!”

I was reading the newspaper while pooping just 5 minutes ago, and in the sports section, there was a picture of Crosby shaking hands with Osgood, with other Wings players waiting behind. Maybe this is just one big miscommunication mess?

By the way, I don't see why people complain about Crosby for whining and stuff like that. Most of the time he just complains about hits and calls and didn't see as fair. Do you know who else did that a lot? Wayne Gretzky. And I don't see many people on the Gretzky hate bandwagon.

See, the way I've always seen this was that Crosby was SUPPOSED to be drafted by Montreal. When he went to Pittsburgh it was an act of violation against fate. And we all know that Montreal spawns the most stubborn, spiteful, unforgiving jackassery in the world. Don't beleive me?

I could easily elaborate, but you only eat the force-fed shit that the media shoves down your throat.

Though for those of you who can see past that, my girlfriend went to the very same school that he did and what she has told me about him is that he is an arrogant, cocky, self-centered, ignorant little punk ass prick.

Examples:

Comes into the school cafeteria and hands out signatures to select people saying "Here, they will be worth money someday"

Another, he goes to a Tim Hortins and when they screwed up his order he stated "No wonder you cant get a better job"

Hmm, how about that.

On rdd's reaction to Fallen Angel about the Tim Horton's quip by Mr. Crosby: Yes, I mostly agree, except that he's not average Joe Q. Citizen, who can criticize most anybody, and 99.9% have it not even be a big deal.

Crosby is a professional sports athlete with moderate fame now, and with that comes scrutiny and the responsibility to try not to say something that might come back to haunt you or your reputation in the future. All I know is he better learn to control his temper a bit more, or one day he will mouth off to the wrong person in or out of the NHL, and get himself, fined, suspended, or even jailed if he doesn't watch himself. It's no big secret the guy has massive anger/temper/possibly ego issues.
