Why is this kid getting pushed all of a sudden? I was just thinking how surreal it is, and while most people agree that Kendrick is a damn talented performer, it's not always the talented guys that get pushed in the WWE.

What do you think it is that has caused this upwards swing in momentum for The Kendrick?

Maybe Michael Hayes has a man crush on him or something. That or HBM put a good word in for him after the draft.

I was thinking that. Michael Hayes was responsible for the good booking London & Kendrick received as a team on SmackDown!. Seriously, every week those two were a reason to watch SmackDown!. Their segments were just short, fun matches most of the time, but you could just glide through them. Hayes new how to book those guys.

The Shawn Michaels thing would be a big help, but why wait so long? Unless HBK was waiting for Kendrick to pay some dues, or something. I've always been curious to see what HBK thinks of his students. I've never really seen it published anywhere. Does he have a favourite student? How does The Kendrick measure up?

I'm seriously thinking that maybe Freddie Prinze, Jr. is a huge Kendrick fan, or something. I mean, as a Hollywood actor joining the WWE creative writing team, if he suggested they push Funaki as a favour to signing with them, they would probably consider doing it.

I'd like to hear what Tovo or Rob would have to say about The Kendrick's push, actually.

His catch phrase pisses me off. Nothing like I want him off my t.v, just seems a little annoying when he gets on the mic. May just have to get use to the new gimmick.

I don't watch Smackdown that much, but I think I think I might have seen most of The Brian Kendrick's segments and matches so far. I haven't been able to get into his character yet, but I still like watching him in the ring. Maybe it's a character that will take a long time to really start to develop.

I'm struggling to take him seriously as a main contender at the moment. I think they are ramming him down our throats a bit, for some weird reason.

C) It's Smackdown

He's awesome. Sure the character will take some time to get used to, but he's talented enough (I think) to do it well. I agree that HBM probably put in a good word for him. But if that's the case, why are we not seeing Paul London in the main event? He's got probably as much talent as Kendrick. For that matter, why aren't we seeing him at all?

Oh wait, Vince hates him.

Unfortunately for Paul London, the inverse is true. As you can see:

A) It's Raw
B) No Triple H, aka the best friend of the guy who trained London is somewhere else
C) It's Raw

I agree that Londrick were entertaining to watch. But history has shown that WWE doesn't know how to effectively push small guys as more than mid-carders.

London wasn't in that first class with Kendrick, Danielson and Cade. Big Difference

THE Brian Kendrick is the funniest thing in WWE, i hated Londrick but with this new gimmick THE Brian Kendrick is definitly one of faves now - hope he wins the scramble tonight!

Also, i'm actually impressed with WWE for once - they're building big Ziek really well for once. Usually they'd have made him look like a monster only for a face guy to slap him out of the ring, but on SD! they scripted it perfectly. It's rare, but kudos to the writers

I really think they're pushing him perfectly at the moment. His promos are short and sweet and he really plays the whole "smart" thing well in his matches. I love it.

WWE has figured out that the fastest way to get the IWC off someone's dick is to push them for a while.

That's fair enough, but what exactly is Kendrick's catchphrase? I haven't heard him use one.

Also, Team Sheep, I'd say the WWE are ramming him down our throats a bit (although I'm not going to complain about a dose of Kendrick down my throat...I don't care how that sounds), considering he went from cruiserweight jobber to main event star in like...five weeks.

Well, the RAW thing might be correct, but CM Punk is sort of a small guy, isn't he? What about HBK and Jericho? Also, who needs the best friend of the trainer when you've got the trainer?

I don't think it's because Kendrick's adorable, Afterlife, because even though he might be, so is London. NYDon might have a point, though.

What's everyones thoughts on how he was pushed last night?
I'd say he was pushed pretty strongly as being the only other guy who had a pin other than Jeff Hardy and Triple H
He was pinned a lot, but he did dominate for a fair while.

I think he was treated really well in the match. Sure, he took a lot of pinfalls (four, I think), but considering this was such a rush to the main event, and that he is so good at bumping, selling and he's so new to the scene, I think it was what was expected of him. I don't think there's any long-term damage to his character on the whole being a pin monkey thing.

It's obvious the WWE are going to do a Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy feud, but I really wouldn't mind it if The Brian Kendrick got involved (although I think he may end up doing something else with Shelton Benjamin, or someone, with Benji turning face). Jeff Hardy will claim that he was also going for a pin (and would be wise to point out that as the current WWE Champion, his pin should have taken priority, but I doubt he will), but The Brian Kendrick could come in as the third man and say "Look, guys, I also won the WWE Championship in that match, don't forget about me."

A Triple Threat Ladder Match between the three somewhere down the line over the WWE Title could be really cool.

I respectfully disagree. :p

Mr. Nerfect
09-08-2008, 11:11 AM
The Kendrick mark in me is sort of wishing that Triple H and Jeff Hardy got into each other's throats so much, that they brawled away from the ring, and allowed The Kendrick to score the last pin of the match and become WWE Champion. Realistically, I know that would have been rushed, and that there would be nothing for The Kendrick to do while those two were fighting, but I just think it would have been cool.

Like, seriously, at No Mercy: Big Show vs. The Undertaker, Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy and The Brian Kendrick vs...fuck, I don't know, Finlay. The main event under-stories provide some reason for marks to buy the show, while Kendrick defends his title against a veteran that he teases because he has never reached the top, whereas Kendrick has, and done it easily.

Throw in a World Heavyweight Title match between Chris Jericho and Batista, CM Punk and Kofi Kingston teaming up to challenge for the World Tag Team Championship, a grudge match between Kane and Rey Mysterio, as well as an ECW Title bout pitting Matt Hardy against Mark Henry. There's your PPV.

They will revive this in future years and London will be the new Stone Cold vs. Shane McMahon. In the Anarchy era.

I actually prefer The Kendrick. He's better on the mic, more technically able in the ring, a little less sloppy and generally just someone I like better. I'd rather Matt Hardy win the WWE Title before Jeff Hardy.

However, I think you'll get your wish, because I can see Triple H dropping the WWE Title to Jeff Hardy at No Mercy.

Paul London would have made sense. I mean, as if a major star would blow Vince McMahon up? What a career-risking move? Career-risking? Isn't that Paul London's style? London would have had nothing to lose, had several on-screen and off-screen problems with Vince, was being held down, has a brother in the movie industry who could get him explosives, and it just would have made sense, OK?

Seriously, though, London smiling then really wasn't a bad thing. I think he was staying in character. London was a hooligan who didn't take things seriously. He was smiling at the grim reaction Vince was getting from the Superstars. It didn't matter to London, in fact, he got a kick out of it.
