I tried reading a couple of threads and seriously couldn't understand what happened. Someone wanna fill me in quick? Dave Meltzer's PPV report looked like a 8 year old wrote it too.

But, I guess Punk was beat down backstage by Orton, Dibiase, Rhodes and Afa Jr., and then he was deemed "unable to compete", so Jericho took his spot and won.

Also, like I said in MacEazy's thread, there were three scramble matches and really only 2 ways to book the finishes. One, the champ is never pinned but loses the title. Two, the champ regains the title at the last second. So they came up with a unique way to get the title off of Punk while at the same time, introducing a new stable and creating a new feud.

He got punted in the head by Orton backstage, so they found a "suitable" replacement.

Very suitable, IMO. :D

I'm glad to see Jericho win the title, but he'll probably drop the title to either Cena or Batista before Wrestlemania (if he even has the title for that long).

Other than that though - I am happy for Jericho. As great as his music is however, I'd like to see him get new music (one that isn't so "Y2Jish"...and fits his current character better).

What happened was this:

In a pretty decent tag team match, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase retained the World Tag Team Championship when JTG had Cody Rhodes in a small package, but quick thinking led to Teddy DiBiase turning the move over onto JTG, allowing Cody Rhodes (who Michael Cole and the WWE production team made a point to mention is now referring to himself as "The Prince of Pro-Wrestling") to get the pin and Simply Priceless to retain the World Tag Team Titles.

After the match, Rhodes & DiBiase got in Cryme Tyme's faces, and showed off the belts. Cryme Tyme started slugging the champs, but then some guy who looks like a cross between Umaga and Haku (to me, anyway) ran in, and saved the Tag Champs' asses. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler kept asking who he was. The colour scheme of his attire matched DiBiase and Rhodes' (yellow and black), if I recall.

Randy Orton approached the World Tag Team Champions and their new associate in their locker-room, and Priceless introduced us to "Manu," who I believe is Afa, Jr. They said that unlike Orton, Manu appreciates talent. Manu (who isn't playing a dumb savage, despite looking like one) told Orton he can mock any of the other champions on RAW, but not Teddy & Cody. I believe Ted then asked Randy if he was impressed. Orton then said he was "only going to say this," but then went into a mighty rant about how luck runs out, and that the Tag Champs got lucky against Cryme Tyme. Orton added something about talent and natural ability lasting forever. He actually sounded quite passionate during this, which is not the norm for Orton. He pretty much said he was not impressed with Simply Priceless and Manu. At least, I think his name was "Manu."

Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels had their Unsanctioned Match, and the early part of the story actually escapes me. I think HBK started the match off strong, but Jericho then took control of it, exploiting the eye injury of Michaels. HBK also played up the triceps tear, and basically played a one-armed man. Anyway, Michaels made a comeback after spraying Jericho with a fire extinguisher while Jericho had Michaels in the Walls of Jericho, but decided that Sweet Chin Music was too easy for Jericho, held back, and then started trying to really hurt Jericho. He hit a vertical suplex on the ramp-way, and then Lance Cade came out to help Jericho.

Michaels took it to Cade in round one, then went back to Jericho, but Cade uppercutted the arm of Jericho, and then gave him a lariat which turned Michaels inside out (sick spot, really). Jericho and Cade then went to town on Michaels' arm, with Jericho slapping Michaels occasionally, and hitting the arm with chair shots, before Jericho put the chair around the arm of Michaels, and climbed to the top rope. HBK kicked Cade into the ropes, however, crotching Jericho, and allowing HBK to hit the Sweet Chin Music on Cade. Michaels then hit Jericho with the steel chair, and he fell back through a table that had been set-up earlier. Michaels then put Cade on an announce table, but stopped before hitting the Flying Elbow. He then put Jericho on top of Cade, face-down, and hit a Flying Elbow onto both of them. Michaels then whipped Jericho with his belt, and pummeled him until referee Marty Elias stopped the match, awarding it to Michaels. HBK hadn't had enough, so he went back to Jericho. Elias pulled HBK off again, so Michaels gave him the Sweet Chin Music.

Shawn Michaels would later cut a promo in the back about being content with what he did to Jericho, but not being satisfied. He said he was going to go home and get into bed with his wife, and be in his kids' room when they wake up, because this was the first PPV in three months he hadn't been hospitalised after.

Prior to the Divas Championship match, but after the WWE Championship Scramble, I believe, CM Punk was in a backstage interview (with Eve Torres, I think) when Randy Orton showed up. Punk noticed that Orton's arm wasn't in a sling, and asked Orton if he was 100%. Orton assured Punk he was injured, and then Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes & Manu attacked. Kofi Kingston tried to be a hero (because there was Trouble in Paradise and all), but he got beaten down, too. Then Orton just came out of nowhere from off-screen with a vicious Cunt Punt to Punk's head. It looked really crisp, and Punk didn't look like a bitch.

Mike Adamle would come out, and said that if Punk could not compete, he would be forced to find a suitable replacement. "The RAW 5-Man Scramble" would go on, apparently. Big Show made an appeal to Mike Adamle, as did William Regal (mentioning his 2008 King of the Ring victory over CM Punk), but after Batista, JBL, Kane and Rey Mysterio had all entered the Scramble Match, the moment of truth revealed Chris Jericho to be the fifth entrant in the match, and he pinned Kane following a Spinebuster from Batista (which also allowed Batista to tentatively become World Heavyweight Champion) to close out the final seconds of the match as the scheduled title holder.

So yeah, Chris Jericho became World Heavyweight Champion because Randy Orton kicked CM Punk in the head. :shifty:

Yeah, I mean he's changed his character, hair, tights... may aswell go the whole nine yards and change the music to something more heelish like Orton's theme imo.

I maintain that this stable could be the most interesting Orton has been since he won the World Heavyweight Title back four years ago.

Orton vs. Punk for WrestleMania, in my opinion. Not for the title. Just a big blow-off match for the feud.

And how the hell does it make sense that Jericho would get the living piss beaten out of him by Michaels and then return to win the world title at the end of the show?

In fact, this PPV surpassed my expectations. It's great that we live in the inetz world, yet we had no idea bout the WHC title. Props to WWE for that.

Give it time. I'm so certain that Jericho is going to give a really good explanation for it tomorrow. "You said you were content, Shawn? Content with what you did to me? You said you'd like to do to me what you did to me at Unforgiven every night for the rest of your life. I welcome it, because I proved that I am not Shawn Michaels. I am better than Shawn Michaels. I am Chris Jericho. I hope you are spending some time with your wife and kids, and that they turn on RAW and see me as World Heavyweight Champion, and you feel as worthless as you deserve to feel."

Jericho made sense as an entrant in the match. He was definitely more logical than Rey Mysterio as a replacement for John Cena. He had a fall over then current World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. I could just imagine Jericho heading to the trainer's room, then limping away when he saw Mike Adamle and begging for a place in the match to redeem himself, just to get under Shawn Michaels' skin.

The only thing that really could have made this better is if Jericho had won the match against Michaels, that the referee stopped it on him, because Jericho was using it to needlessly maim Michaels, HBK took some time off, and Jericho looked like the biggest bad-ass in the world heading into RAW tonight.

Well because...Jericho is a heel and is suppose to win in deceitful manors, and took advantage of a gimmick match.

Mark's can buy it because he's a heel and expect it of him. Smark's will buy it because they love Jericho and want to see him with the title. The circumstances of the match (which I think were stupid to begin with) allowed the title change to be believable, and imo it 1ups HBK because he may have taken some revenge on his enemy, but at the end of the night Jericho still manages to leave with the big gold belt.

Either way, I marked out for the first time in years, bowed down to the man, and am the most excited to see Raw then I've been in a long time...and that's what matters in the end. :)

Batista was the champ...he had no reason to pin anyone. I watched the ppv and what he did worked fine to me...he fought off an opponent and waited for another threat which he didn't realize was behind him.

If you want to bitch about an ending, try Jeff Hardy and the WWE Championship. Jeff was the current champ, looking at HHH making the final pin at 5 seconds, and instead of knocking off HHH of out the pin he tries to pin someone else at 2 seconds.

It'll come to a head in a PPV main event for the title.

just watched the tape. Jericho pinned Kane and Batista realized what was going on with about 4 seconds left. Ref was over by Jericho raising his hand, so there's no way Batista had time to pin anybody. and like JT said, Batista just didn't pin Rey because he was already champ and had no idea Chris just won the belt. it was just the classic "I don't know what's happening behind me" wrestling spot going on
