I was wondering did anyone else have that time in their lives when wrestling was the center of their world? I remember when I was like 16 wrestling was it for me. I would totally freak out if I missed Raw or Nitro, almost every t-shirt I owned was a wrestling one and I had tons of action figures that I actually played with. I kinda miss that ya know? The innocence of it. Before I knew about writers and backstage politics. Yeah, I knew that wrestling was fake, but I still enjoyed it more then I do now. I miss when marking out was a regular thing instead of a rare thing. I swear i wish the wwe writers would pull their collective heads out of their asses and make wrestling enjoyable again. I guess that's just a pipe dream. I still like wrestling but I guess I just don't love it like I used to.
IT'S STILL ENTERTAINING TO ME DAMMIT

I'm not saying it's not still entertaining, I'm just saying those entertaining moments don't come as often as they used to.
I may have low standards now, due to some horrid periods WWE has gone through over the years, but I'm entertained every time I watch RAW, ECW and Smackdown!

As a wrestler for me wrestling is still very much the center of my world. It's pretty much all I ever think about. New spots, new ways to counter a hold, what I did wrong at the last show, how much I can't wait for the next show. Wrestling is always on my mind. In some fashion.
But I have to comend you guys, cause honestly, if all I had to keep my interest in wrestling alive was the WWE/TNA I probably would be burnt out. Seriously, I don't know how you guys do it.

So you miss being a Trekkie? :?:

But you just acknowledged that innocence/ignorance was the reason it was more enjoyable.
So, admitting that, how can you blame the writers or put the burden on them to make it enjoyable again? You admit to being jaded.
From about 1997 to 2004 was my BIG obsession. I guess I'm still obsessed, just not like I used to be. Really getting into some classic stuff recently and soon I want to look into 60's-70's wrestling (I've only really ever seen early 80's-onward, aside from an odd match here or there).
As Dest said, it's fucking hard not to get burnt out with only WWE and TNA during this era. I FOLLOW everything currently happening and actually care about it (whether I care about the characters or not), but I can't be assed to actually sit through it. But once you start digging around, you can find some good shit.

Around 1992, 1993, I was 10 and REALLY into Hulk Hogan and the WWF in general. I had all the action figures (Hacksaw, Sid, Boss Man, Hogan, Undertaker, et al), had every t-shirt under the sun, even got the WWF Magazine every month. I remember the issues with Ric Flair and Elizabeth on the cover, and the whole angle where Flair was doctoring photos to put his face over Macho Man Randy Savage's in pics with Liz.
I still have near-mint condition Andre the Giant wall posters that I treated with the utmost care.
It kind of resurfaced again when I was around 15 and bought Stone Cold boxer shorts. Yes, you heard that right. I was that big a mark. :P

For me it's called "yesterday" and "there's a damn good chance of tomorrow". If the second one doesn't happen there's always the "I have a fucking Kane mask tattoo" thingie.
I've always hated wrestling.
What Destor said really. I don't really watch a whole lot of WWE/TNA, just read spoilers/catch the odd vid and PPV's. Most of by viewing side of actual matches is through DVD and shows I tag along too

There was a time I used to get kinda upset if I missed a PPV, It made me not know what was going on, I watched Raw and Smackdown every week, no exceptions. Hell when Survivor was on, and mom used to watch it, as did I, I used to watch the first hour of Smackdown from 8-9pm, and the second hour from 10-11pm.
I think what made me lose it, is how fast it went downhill after The Rock and Austin left, Not saying they are what kept the company entertaining, but they were a huge part of it for me.
Back then you had
- Austin raising hell
- The Rock cutting promos till they bleed
- MONSTER Kane
- Biker Taker (not my fav, but pretty cool)
- Jericho as Y2J
- Benoit who was an awesome Tweener
- Eddie who was awesome to watch and funny as hell
- Angle who made amazing matches
- Tag Teams and A Tag Team division - Jeff and Matt Hardy, Edge and Christian, Bubba Ray and D-Von, Road Dog and Billy Gunn, La Resistance, The Un-Americans
- Womans Division had Trish Stratus, Lita, China , Ivory, Victoria
- The Hardcore title, which made things more interesting for the lower-midcard
All that is gone pretty much, and thats what made me watch wrestling.

At one time, Mondays were my favorite day of the week. There was such a high level of excitement about spending an entire evening watching wrestling (flipping between Raw and Nitro), and when it was over I couldn't wait soon enough for next week. Between Mondays, I'd fantasize about storylines, PPVs, dream matches. In school, it was all every guy talked about and it was fun practicing wrestling manuevers among your buddies. Wrestling shirts were cool to wear, and quoting Austin, Rock, Mankind, or Flair
I'd play the video games for hours a day (fond memories of WCW Revenge, WWF Attitude/Warzone, No Mercy). Working through the CAW mode was even fun.
I had over 25 action figures, complete with a ring, weapons, titan-tron, cage, and every other wrestling device you can think of.
I would read through online wrestling news and rumors over an hour a day (pwtorch, 1wrestling.com, wrestlingnews, and tpww.net among others) and would research the biographies of every wrestler that I cared enough to look up.
Gone is everything I described above. I still read through wrestling news and rumors, but not as fervently. If I miss an episode of Raw, my life still goes on without a hitch. And I haven't been able to get into any wrestling game not named No Mercy.
I'm 23 now, but wrestling was definately the center of my life during my teenage years. Looking back, I do miss THAT feeling.

I have a lot more memories of wrestling being the center of my universe on Saturday mornings when I would watch Superstars. I still remember when Diesel beat Razor for the IC belt, and when Bob Backlund snapped.
