One of the few games I buy on release date every year. Especially looking forward to this years. United are licensed again, Konami got the Champions League license, Wembley is in, Nike, Puma & Adidas boots, there's a new 'Be A Pro' type mode, gameplay overhaul with a bunch of new shit and...well it's just Evo, best console football game year in, year out. Out in a month (17th October)

lol. People who claim FIFA is/was better last year crack me up. It's like they're so used to playing a shite, inferior arcade football game that as soon as it shows any kind of improvement, it's so noticeable that people's brains tell them 'WOAH! This is better than that other game!! That one we've not been any good at for the last 10 years!'
Admittedly, FIFA is no longer awful and can be fun to play but just because it became more of a sim game and less arcadey, it still wasn't even close to Evo, let alone miles better than. And having played the FIFA demo this year, unless Evo comes out and is WORSE than last year (which it won't be) it's gonna be the same story again this year
I always remember FIFA being way too easy, especially with regards to set pieces

Yup, and outside the box scoring.
I played Euro 2008 quite a bit. It was fun in that captain mode where you and 3 other players compete to get the captancy for England. The actual game blew compared to Pro Evo though.

I would always get it passed along from someone else so I'm not exactly sure how to get it initially, but it involves downloading an option file from the internet using some sort of device that connects to a PS2 as well then replacing your Pro E option file with that one.

They don't even get a part license, they have to license teams individually. As to why not more, I would presume money.
I think EA Sports have some kind of deal with the Premier League which limits Evo to 2 English teams. Or something like that.
And in regards to the kit stuff, the previous next gen version had no logo editor for you to create badges and sponsors etc but that's back in this year

I was playing FIFA 09 and it is actually a great game, but it's not football. 1st match on world class, Aston Villa 7 - 1 Chelsea. It's fun, but come on, have something that flows like football FFS.
What makes you think that won't be the scoreline on Sunday??
Picked this up about 1.30 this morning from ASDA. Didn't make it to uni today
The custom soundtracks and importing chants are amazing additions, ditto the new/kind of same as the editor from a few years ago with more options. People can no longer complain about lack of licenses, they no longer matter. I just won 2-1 away against West Ham with a shitload of cockneys singing 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles' and them wearing a kit that could be licensed it looks so good. this game

Become a legend mode is brilliant. Currently made Crouch a benchwarmer for Pompey because of how good I am. Still, he gets a good run out because my stamina's shite :(
I haven't got round to playing it yet but it looks great. Can you play international tournaments/Champions League during your career? I got the impression that you might be able to from the list of Milestones
CSLi, you got it for PS3 or 360?
I noticed ASDA had it for PS3 at £27.00!! Didn't see a price for 360 version (although judging by the fact that they also had the TNA game for £20 on PS3 whilst it was £31.something for 360 I'm not holding my breath!)
And how does the 'Become A Legend' mode work? Do you play as a single player with 10 AI team mates?
PS3. £27 from ASDA. Was legendary. I was expecting to pay £32-35
And yeah, Become a Legend is like that, similar to EA's Be A Pro
You have any idea why they're selling PS3 games so much cheaper??
And how different is it playing as one player? I reckon I'd be offside all the time!

Become a legend is like master league, so you've got League A, B, C, D & E (C is the Premiership) and 2 euro competitions. You can play for your country, but I haven't been picked yet.
If you've strayed off side, you get a flag above your head.
Unlike EAs mode, it's not 4 seasons. It's from age 17 up to 30-odd.
I played on Top Player for a bit but it's a bit shit on Legend mode, just because of the really slow build up. Try playing as a striker for a team with one striker on top player. Isolation doesn't cut it....
Also, importing chants!?!?!?!
I was almost contemplating buying FIFA for the first time since FIFA 99, but that has just sold PES to me.
MOTHER FUCKER!!
Just checked the ASDA website. Seems that PES for 360 was also £27 and they had a copy on display!! If only they'd had the price on the shelf.
Fingers crossed they have a copy left tomorrow!!

I gotta say something else about become a legend. You can really see players personalities.
The manager keeps swapping Defoe and Utaka up-front. Defoe gets the ball and just has the goal in mind. If Utakas playing, I'll score because he creates goals instead of being a ball-greedy bastard :D
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Managed to pick it up today from ASDA! For £27!!
Anyone know of a decent website I can download chants from?
All I gotta do now is complete a Treble winning season, unbeaten in the league on Pro Evo 08 before I give this a spin.

Here is a quick comparison of Be a Pro Vs. Become a Legend as they are my fave modes from each game.
Pro: 4 seasons of action, including end of season transfers
Legend: from age 17 to a maximum of 35 (You can retire from international, or alltogether, from 27)
Pro: Can pick your starting age
Legend: You start at 17
Pro: If you're not picked, you play for the reserves, complete with a sell-out crowd to watch that reserve game
Legend: If not picked, you play an inter-squad match for either the A or B team. If you're playing for the A-Team, the managers trying you out to see if you could make the bench
Pro: The next step is a combination of starting games, and reserve games
Legend: The next step is making appearances from the bench
Pro: Once you make it as a starting 11 player, it's impossible to be relegated back to the reserves
Legend: Your form is always monitored and you could be back to the training ground.
Pro: Transfers occur at the end of the season. If you don't pick a transfer, you stay with your existing club no matter what.
Legend: There is a transfer window mid-season and all contracts are until the end of the season. If you've not been playing well, your club may not give you a new contract.
Pro: You can call for a pass (even the type of pass) and your team-mate will usually do what you say. You can even tell them to shoot.
Legend: You can call for passes, but you won't always get them. Until you've earned the respect of your team-mates, you may only get passes given to you when they feel like it.
Pro: Top goalscorer awards
Legend: All major awards (Best player of competition, Top Scorer, Most Assists as well as world, european, domestic and international player of the year)
Pro: Fatigue doesn't seem to affect game-to-game. You will start.
Legend: Fatigue grows on you and you may be dropped to the bench for a rest ahead of important games
Pro: You pick where attributes are allocated and get bonuses for doing certain things during a match, pre-defined before the game
Legend: You pick pick what to focus on, but points come from match experiences and what you did in each match
Pro:If you get made captain, you get to pick the formation and starting line-ups
Legend: I'll let you know if/when I'm made captain ;)
I much prefer Legend mode but YMMV
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Managed to pick it up today from ASDA! For £27!!

All I gotta do now is complete a Treble winning season, unbeaten in the league on Pro Evo 08 before I give this a spin.
Have a browse around the PESFan forums (http://forums.pesfan.com/index.php). If you find none to your liking there, odds are there'll be a link to elsewhere. I haven't noticed any for 360 though but I assume you can import chants on XBox too
I'm a bit PO'd about how "old" the squads are. Villa have Friedal, Luke Young, Cueller and Shorey missing. None of these guys were bought on deadline day and that shouldn't be an excuse anyway. The game came out a month and a half after the transfer deadline. How much efforst does it take to put players in the right squad? You don't have to re-render like you would to update Smackdown Vs Raw.
I can't even add Shorey cos there's no Reading for obvious reasons. But I'm sure I remember previous games having unasigned players!? Shorey has broken into the full England squad and yet this game has no trace of him!?
As for the Master League - I'm sure last year you could start in the top division, but they've removed that option this year so you're stuck playing a bunch of random teams in Division 2.
As for the gameplay, I usually struggle going from one Pro Evo to another as they "feel" different, this one is a very easy transition from last years game. I beat Liverpool 4 - 0 with Villa on Regular. Which is something that I would never have done in previous new PES's.
Also, I haven't spotted a "Import Chant" area yet. Why would PS3 get this exclusive and 360 get nothing??
To find out if you can import chants, go to edit mode, edit team and at the bottom there should be a 'Cheering Stance' option
#BROKEN Hasney

It is fantastic. Shame i'm absolute pish!
lol. Glad I'm not the only one then.
Took me 12 or 13 training matches to make the bench!! Although when I got some game time I should have scored on debut, was kept out by a fine save in my second appearance and bagged my 1st professional goal (in fact my first goal full stop) against Villa (the team I support) and then in the last game of the half season I won MIP (Best player on losing team) in a game against Liverpool.
Had offers from Sunderland, Stoke, West Ham and Fulham in the Mid Season transfer window but stuck with Wigan for now.
I didn't think I'd enjoy this mode but, like Confused, it's taking up most of my game time - not even started Master League yet!

It kind of plays like the demo, yeah. I find the 09 demo more similar to Evo 2008 than 2009. I was turning teams over for fun in the demo but I'm in an adjustment period atm with the full game. Passing is realistic but can be frustrating. I find it works out well, you won't see Michael Carrick misplace too many passes but your standard undeveloped 18 year old might struggle

I've got two going now, my first is up front (the Pompy then Chelsea one) but I've decided to be a center back in top player skill as well.
Not happy though, Chelsea keep putting me out on the wing :(
Yeah, I'm an Attacking Midfielder but often end up playing up front, a lot of the time as a solo striker.
I didn't think you had the option of centre back!? I was sure my options were all midfield / forward options (LMF, RMF, CMF, W, SS, FW, etc).

Hansey, you got any tips for BAL?
I'm playing Attacking Midfield for Wigan. My own shots always balloon over and my team mates don't seem to be able to finish anything I provide for them. I'm pretty much always in the first XI but I'm not attracting offers from any bigger clubs, etc.
#BROKEN Hasney

Don't shoot from range, a pass (even if not finished) is going to do more for your rating than skying a shot (I don't think I've scored a goal from outside the box yet)
Corners are your friend. If you're not taking them, fuck it and take up a position on the edge of the 6 yard box, by the near post and head that shit in.
Always look down the wings for a chip through ball on the break, and storm into the box.
Get a transfer to a club around you that has good strikers. I know Zaki and Hesky are good IRL, but neither can finish in the game. If you get an offer for pompy, snap that up and you should be assist leader in no time.
Funny you should say about corners...all 3 of the goals I've scored have come off corners or crosses from that area.
Thanks for the advice.

Think I started on too an easy a level as a striker. Got signed up to Bolton up front instead of Newcastle and West Ham. Bolton only play one up front but I was coming on as a sub at half time in the first five games as a right winger, scored a goal. Then they tried me up front as a sub against Pompey, didn't score but they kept faith in me. Started the next game against Stoke, scored a hat-trick before coming off cos I was knackered, the team went on to win 5-0. Biggest clue that I need to up the level is when we beat Liverpool 3-0 the next game, scored two and set one up.
I'll start again tonight. Enjoying it though.

Restarted my game last night on a higher level. Went to Bolton again as a Striker/Second Striker/Winger. First substitute apearance was as a defensive midfielder for the injured Gavin McCann. Next two games were as left and right wingers, scored my first goal by rounding Tony Warner against Hull. After that they started me against Liverpool, on my own up front. Hard game that, they took me off on 70 minutes with the score at 0-0 - Kevin Nolan went on to win Bolton the game. Got dropped against Man Utd (we got beat 4-0 and I got straight back into the team), then had a run of a few games from the start. Best was against Wigan where I scored two. Been dropped another two games against Arsenal (after being up front against Chelsea by myself) and Spurs.
It's hard at Bolton cos you are up front every game by yourself. I'm a quick and nippy striker but they still put up a few long balls for me to try and get to. Frustratingly, sometimes when they take me off as a sub, they change to a 4-4-2 system. Dunno, think I'll feed on the scarps at Bolton this season and then try to move on to a team where I'll at least have a strike partner.
Mr. Monday Morning
12-11-2008, 07:28 AM
Yeah playing up front solo isn't that great, although for some reason England play 4-5-1, very attacking though so there's always good support.
Took a while to break into the team but now I'm firmly in the rotation, scored 4 in 5 including 2 against Villa in the away leg of the UEFA Cup :D
Impeccable

Sounds awesome...recently traded in FIFA 09...how does it compare to fifa?
Thinking about getting this
I noticed that whilst I was at Newcastle they'd always play 1 upfront (I think Chelsea are playing the same way too) but they never keep the same striker from match to match. Martins scored a brace in one game then didn't feature for 4 games. Odd.

The frustrating thing is that I can go a whole game without getting anything decent maybe a half decent chance, get a rating under 6.0 and get dropped for the next game. The daft thing is that if they played more attacking I wouldn't get dropped. They then tend to get beat in the game I am not in the team, then I go back into the starting eleven.
Anyway, played about ten games last night scored 3 goals or so, 2 against an absolutely shocking Everton defensive display, 1 against Stoke. Also won my first penalty which Nolan blazed wide. Bolton keep on plugging away, think we are in 6th or 7th in the league.

You have taken them personally? Wish I were taking ours, not likely while I play for Kevin Nolan Wanderers. To be honest he's probably one of our best players, he weighs in with a few goals. Some of the others are shockingly bad, horrible passers or just run in to opposition defenders. Was getting sick of Matty Taylor until he banged in a belter, Cohen gets frustrating as well.

Yeah it seems a bit random as to who it selects to take them midgame. One or two were in penalty shootouts but bar one that I blazed over the bar the rest have been saved
Bloody annoying since it's normally me who wins them (and not by diving :p)
After half a season at Chelsea (where I scored once from LWF) I had offers from Man Utd, AC Milan and Real Madrid.
Figured I'd stick with Chelsea for now rather than return to the training matches at a new club. Wish they'd play me in the centre or even upfront now my stats have improved.

Was tempted to move to PSG in January but I looked at the team and noticed that they were playing 4-5-1 as well so I thought I'd stick with Bolton. We don't lose many games but draw a lot against the good and not so good. Can draw one week against Liverpool and then the next against Hull. Thought we were going to draw 0-0 at home to Man Utd when I got subbed off. Kevin Nolan then proceeds to assault the Man Utd defence skipping passed about five of them and blasting an unstoppable shot into the top corner. I think we are about 8th or 9th in the league and I'm 5th top scorer in the league.
Really into the game, would play it loads more if I could. Try to keep it down to an hour at night at most though. Most satisfying performance last night was against Newcastle away. They took a two goal lead in the first half. In the second I pulled one back with a fine finish past a distraught Shay Given and the that crazy Argentinian with a perm scored an own goal to gift us a 2-2 draw.
Team selection is crazy at times. Walker tends to play more than Jaskelainen, Walker has this annoying habbit of playing the ball short to the nearest man in times of defensive danger. Cohen continues to be played even though when Muamba plays the odd time he is a much better and adds more to the attack. Get it sorted Megson!!
FUCK this is pissing me off!
Before I used to get about 75 mins on the pitch per match, now I keep getting subbed on about 55 and not because I'm fatigued. It's also not that I'm playing poorly as I always have one of the highest ratings for the team.
I just scored in back to back games and now I don't start the next game. And all this whilst Chelsea can't get a win. We're like 11th-13th in the league!!

I tend to get subbed at around 70-80 minutes, then they tend to change to a 4-4-2 formation. Unbelievable.
Last night I put us in the lead against Arsenal in the cup, subbed me off on about 75 minutes. Arsenal then equalise and I have to sit through extra time and penalties which Arsenal won :(
Eight games left until the end of the season, might possibly get into Europe but I'm seriously considering leaving at the end of the season if any decent offers come in.
I'm at about 13 Goals in 22 games or something like that, still in the running for top goalscorer. Need to up my game a bit and by that I mean bolton need to attack more

What's your average rating Mackem? With that kind of ratio you should get some decent teams come in for you.
Won the UEFA Cup with Villarreal :D
Lost the first leg of the semis at home to Fiorentina 3-1 :o but won the away leg 4-1  and then beat Milan in the final 3-0. Scored in each of those games, finished top scorer for the competition :)
Signed for Real in the summer. Not going that great, defence is still shipping goals as usual and I've not quite broken the rotation yet so I can still end up on the bench game to game. Scored a few though.

Finished the season - 30 appearances 16 goals. Needed to get the hell out of Bolton because for every good game I had there would be about three or four which were almost write offs because the team barely attacked.
Had a few offers from teams like Bologna, Napoli, Deportivo, St Etienne, Hull but the one that stuck out was Roda JC from the Netherlands. They play an adventurous 4-3-3 formation. I came on half way through the second half in the first match against Feyenoord a goal down. After a few minutes, the coach changed to 4-2-4. Makes a big difference from always playing in a 4-5-1 formation at Bolton. Scored my first goal in my second appearance as a half time sub. Hope to break the top three in Holland with this team.
I would have went ot the other teams but I think Hull might have been frustrating in respect to creating goals, Bologna and Napoli didn't have as good a midfield as Roda JC. Deportivo play 4-5-1 which I had no interest in, the choice was between St Etienne and Roda JC really.
I'm not sure what my average rating was last year. Funny thing was at a point I saved the game and simmed the last eight games to see what happpened at the end of the season and I eneded up in the league eleven. When i actually went back and played the games, I didn't. Was getting too many 5.5 ratings at Bolton when they weren't creating much, the better games I could easily get 7.0 - 8.0, they just weren't very regular.
By the end of the first season, all my stats had improved by four points from the first game.
Season 6 = Best season for me yet.
CHELSEA
Scored 12 goals in all competitions from Centre Mid (and LWF sometimes).
We won the "FA Cup" beating Everton 1 - 0 in final (taking my personal record in finals against Everton to 2 wins, 1 loss).
Beat Man Utd 4 times (including Cup Semi Final) with me scoring in two games.
Drew too many league games finishing 8th overall - although one more win would have put is in Euro Qualification spots.
Knocked out of "Champions League" in Group Stages (proper not qualification ones).
Knocked out of "UEFA Cup" by Lyon (who were also in my CL group!?) in first match.
My average rating was around 6.50 with 12 Man of the Match performances. I didn't get in the Euro or World teams even though I was Chelsea's top scorer for the season. Think this was my second highest average rating - the highest one coming when I won the award for Top Assister and got into both Euro and World teams.
ENGLAND
Got my first International start against Turkey on the opening group game of the "World Cup".
Should have bagged a hat trick in 2nd game against South Africa but missed oppurtunity to get 1st goal for England.
Debut goal for England in 1 - 0 win over Peru to top the group.
Beat Hungary 2 - 0 in first KO stage.
Beat France 4 -1 in Quarters.
Beat Spain 2 -1 in Semi having gone 1 down on 32mins we scored in stoppage time at the end of the 90 then a goal on 95 in Extra Time holding out for win and a place in Final.
Beat Italy 5 - 3 on penalties after 0 - 0 draw. Of course I was subbed so didn't have a penalty to take.
TRANSFERS
Received offers from West Brom, Man Utd, Lyon, AC Milan and ASTON VILLA. I was very tempted to go to Villa as I'm a Villa fan IRL and they did finish above us. Decided to stick with Chelsea as I've only been there a season and a half.
I hope to move abroad in a few years and then return to England with Villa (or vice versa). Proviging I'm still doing well I guess.
My average rating for the season was around 6.50. Oddly enough though I wasn't selected for the Euro/World teams as I was when I was top assister a few seasons ago.
In case you were wondering.

You better believe if I get an offer from Sunderland, I'm going :D
Do many other transfers occur around you in the game? Say if you are at a club for a few seasons and are doing well, for instance take a crap team the the league title, europwe etc, do they bring in quality players?
I remember Bolton brought in one or two people at the start of last season but nobody really noteworthy.
Transfers are ludicrous tbh.
There are so many players that have switched between the "Big Four" that just wouldn't happen. Reina and Fabregas to Utd are prime examples. Beckham plays for Fulham, Gerrard has gone to somewhere like Torino, Everton have Mountinho.
Chelsea had Owen when I arrived and have signed Vicente (who I must be keeping out of the team) and Nani just joined in the last window - as well as other less well known faces over the years.
Basically there are loads of transfers that just wouldn't realistically take place.
Also, I've had offers from Sunderland since the first season - even when I was playing for their biggest rival.

Hit a really good vein of form. Seems I'm a bit like Rooney in that sense :o
Knocked Barca out of the Spanish Cup, put together a decent run in the league to climb to 5th (including walloping Santander 7-1 - scored 4, assisted 2, still only got an 8 :|) and scraped through to the champions league 1/4 finals after coming back from 2-0 down to beat Osasuna 3-2. Got Fiorentina up next, they should be scared after what I did to them last time :D
Getting a bit sick of some of my team-mates though. Drenthe can run fast and that's about it. Raul only passes to certain players. Robinho would rather try to dribble past 5 players than lay a pass square. And Sergio Ramos, when he's not giving the guy he's marking 10 yards to work in, 70% or more of the time when he tries to tackle gives away a penalty or a free kick on the edge of the box. Unreal.
Still, am up to 15 goals and 4 assists at the halfway point. Did think about signing for Valencia but World Cup 2014 will be at the end of the season and I don't want to be fighting David Villa to get into the team.

Anyway still going with Roda JC, might have made a mistake joining them as they aren't too good. However we are into January and sitting in 9th or 10th which is about the same place Bolton finished last season. If we can improve by a few places I'll be happy. Strangely, it's not really Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord that are the difficult teams in this league it's Heereven, FC Twente NEC etc who are hard to play against. I think the rest of the team raise their game against the bigger clubs.
Got high hopes for the cup, through to the second round - I think we have a chance.
Not really scoring many goals this year, I think I have about 7, but my all round game has improved

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure european games count as 'bigger' games and so you get more experience bonus if you play well in them. Try and finish top 6 and you'll get into the champions league qualifying round :y:
Is it odd that I enjoy coming here to read how everyone is doing in their careers?
Also, I was thinking of jumping up to 10 minute games cos I ened up with too many 0 - 0 draws playing at 5 minutes. How long do you guys play per game?

10 minutes, in my third season at the moment.
Playing with Fulham, seem to have some bad luck in front of goal but I've got the top assists in the league at the moment.
Andy Johnson is the worst guy to ever play up front with, he regularly doesn't pass and shoots from rubbish positions.
But we're through to the champs league group stages so I'll stay till the end of season.
The Mackem

Yeah ten minutes here as well. I dread to think how little of the ball I would see with five minutes.
Well I switched to 5 mins when I was stuck in the reserve games. Nothing worse than pointlessly running round for a full 10 minutes. Now my stats are better and I actually get passed to I think I'll up the time.
LOL
First 10 minute game and I bag my first brace and then hat trick in a 4 - 0 win over Spurs. Then we went on to a classic versus Man Utd.
Kept up what is becoming a tradition by scoring at "Old Trafford". Rooney equalised before Hargreaves was red carded for bringing me down just outside the area. Corini made it 2 - 1 with the freekick. Man U were then given a penalty that Fabregas blazed wide. Rooney eventually got a second equaliser before I set Essien up to make it 3 - 2. United still had time to hit the post before the final whistle.
Gotta say, I love 10 minute games!!
10 minutes/Top Player. Spent first 2 seasons at Sunderland, took me about 7/8 games before I was first choice. Was pretty cool actually, survived 'relegation' on the last day of the first season. I had my favourite match so far, penultimate game of the season, against Chelsea, they needed to win to keep up with United I scored my first brace, one of them a penalty (also my first) to give United the title. Second season un-eventful
Signed for Spurs at the start of the third season, took me about 3 games before displacing Bent as the sole striker (which made no fucking sense since he was top scorer in the league with like 5-6 goals in the first 3-4 games) Great season for the team, finished 4th, scored something like 12 goals in the league
4th season was abysmal. Finished like 16th, had about 10 goals myself. Decided pretty early on in the season that I was gonna leave if a decent enough team from abroad came in (don't really wanna play for anybody else other than United in England) Celtic and AZ were the best non-English teams that came in. Stuck it out 'til the end of the season.
Signed for Porto in the 'summer'. Shit hot there atm, can't put a foot wrong, 7-8 games in, scored 6 goals in the league, 2-3 in Europe, got my first 3 caps for England off the bench. 'Tis all good. Wanna play for Milan/Inter/maybe Juve/Real/Barca/Bayern before returning to England with United. We shall see how it works out
Added a further 4 goals for the season taking my tally to 8 goals from 5 games (since moving to 10mins)/7 games for the season.
However, I'm still on 'Normal' (or whatever the middle one is - wish they'd just stuck with the star system) guess I'll step if I do ridiculously well this season.

Won the league, just, by 2 points over Barca, and won the Champions League, beating Arsenal 4-1 in the final (avec hattrick) Joint top scorer for that one too. I was miles behind in the pachichi rankings though, going to have to work on that - finished with 29 goals and 9 assists for the season in all competitions.
Then won the World Cup :D Scored 8 goals, still didn't get top scorer due to Trezeguet hitting 9  1 x Canada, 4 x Egypt, 2 x Romania, 1 x South Africa. Beating up the little teams
Had an offer from Milan to move but they play a strange 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 hybrid and have tons of strikers already, so going to stay at Real for a bit longer.

Was considering staying with Roda JC even though they managed to get worse in the new season. Then came an offer that was too good to refuse. 3 games in, Dutch tactical genius Steve McClaren comes in with an offer to play for FC Twente. They were already top of the league with 9 points as well so off I went!
They play a 4-5-1 formation but it feels a lot better than Bolton's and Roda JC's 4-3-3 come 4-5-1. At the end of November right now and have 8 goals and am at an average of 6.9. Second top goalscorer and second best player as it stands. Roy Makaay is ahead of me on both fronts but then there's no real shame in being second to him. 4 points clear at the top of the league.

Playing against the AI is so awful on football games. It's nothing like playing with real people.
Real people predict what you're gonna do, and try to react as best they can when they're wrong.
AI is unable to predict what you're gonna do, but has instant reflexes.
I played PES 4, 5, and 6 online with very little lag. 4 and 5 were on the XBox, and 6 was PC.
I mostly play with my brothers, for real human competition, and somebody in the room to laugh at when they miss an open net.
We switched to FIFA this time (first time since 99), since the latest PES is so bad.

You get like 1 or 2 decent games say per 20 or so online with Evo. Everybody else picks Barca, Inter, United or Brazil, gives the ball to Messi/Eto'o/Ronaldo/Adriano and charges down the wings, cuts in and shoots. It's not even that hard to defend against, it's just gets boring and annoying after a while. I'd rather play 'properly' and lose and squeel like a girl when something beautiful comes off than score the same goal a 1000 times. And there isn't anything wrong with the opposition AI on this years game. Best it's been in a long time. The same can't be said about your AI teammates however

Finished the season at Juve with 37 goals and 11 assists  Won Serie A, lost to Man U in the Champions League final, AGAIN  this time on penalties. Got tired of Juve being terrible so signed for Chelsea, who are actually WORSE. We're 2nd in the league but got knocked out in the groups stages of the Champions League :$ UEFA Cup ftw.
Also am now 3-time World & European Player of the Year

I'm sort of switching between my BAL at Fiorentina and Master League with Sunderland. I can't compete with MMM's achievements :(

Just started a career, got offers from Newcastle, Bolton and West Ham, went to West Ham and played pretty well in my first 3 games off the bench (including making my debut playing towards the Kop) got a start against Wigan where I tackled a midfielder from kick off and smashed one in from about 40 yards, before getting a second with a header.
Only scored 2 others aside from those (about 11 games in) I keep getting dropped because of the fitness levels and always taken off, its unbelievably annoying.
Oddly, the only striker I enjoy playing up front with is Tristan, Cole is fucking shit and Ashton is the most selfish player I've ever seen.
Who knows where it'll go though, how quickly do stats shoot up?
I still get taken off around the 70 minute mark and I'm the leagues best player! Reeeeeaaaaaaaaaaly frustrating.
Almost as frustating as the AI for team selection. Drogba comes into team, scores twice, dropped for Owen, who scores, dropped for Dembele, who is shit. Ryan Babel got a start as CF from nowhere in one of the Cup Finals - he did score a beauty though.
Which in turn isn't as frustrating as your team mates inability to put a decent cross in from open play. I beat the RB/LB and provide crosses at least 5 times per game, if I've run centrally the cross never comes.

Made Wolves and am attempting to get them in the 'Premier League'. The only players of theirs that I could find were Berra, Quashie and Keogh(sp?). Rest of the team are decent(ish) players of championship level.
Keogh is up front witt David Connolly. Quashi is in centre midfield with Grant Leadbitter. Keith Gillespie on the right wing, Hunt on the left. Defence are a few crap players and the goalkeeper is Northern Irish.
It's hard going but I'll get them there. Keogh is a bit crap mind.

LOL that Wolves game failed when I overstretched their budget with a rookie error.
Anyway, I'm actually still play this game on BAL.
I'm a centre forward who started with Bolton but left at the end of a frustrating 4-5-1 formation to go to the Dutch League with Roda JC. They were playing what I thought was an attacking 4-3-3 formation which was actually 4-5-1 under another name so I sacked that for the best opportunity I could muster which was Twente who had qualified for the Champions League equivalent. Won the title with them and was top scorer and it was off to Italy to play for Fiorentina. Great season there where we were runners up in Serie A I believe (top scorer again) and we finished runners up in the Champions League. After this season I got picked for England to play in what I think was the Euro championships IIRC. We won and I was top scorer, it was really easy that after playing in a not overly creative Fiorentina side.
Went to Athletico Madrid who had beat Fiorentina in the Champions league final just to try the Spanish league out...it was a bit tough and took a while to get going and couldn't quite catch up to Barca and Real Madrid and ended 3rd, went out of the Champions League in the semi finals and wasn't top scorer in any of the competitions although not far off. Spain kinda sucked and after the season with Athletico Madrid I could pick where I wanted to go and had decided before the end of the season I was going back to England a hero. Picked Man Utd because they were ranked number one although in hindsight Chelsea might have a better team. Scored a blinder debut goal, probably the best I've scored so I saved it haha. Anyway won the league just, as Liverpool didn't win in their last game of the season, finished as the assist king (first time ever) but was two off Vela from getting the top scorer in the league. The bastards dropped me completely for the Champions League final and we got beat off Barca but I was still in the Euro Team of the year (another first).
Into the second season with Man Utd then and we're 6 league games in, last game was a classic with Chelsea. Both teams had won their first five and we went to Stamford Bridge. I was benched for the game but came on at the start of the second half on the left wing. Essien scored on 60 minutes but I was running my little legs off and started drifting into the centre forward positions. The manager decided to bring on Berbatov who I've rarely seen play in two seasons. The ball was bouncing about in the box and Berbatov played me in a bit wide of the goal, instead of going for the shot I turned 360 degrees and put him in for an easy finish on 86 minutes. I was quite happy with that until the normally useless Modric went on a run on the right and timed a cross along the floor straight onto my foot for an easy tap in, in injury time. Good times, felt like one of those 'special Man Utd moments'. Yeah fuck the new games I've still got a promising career to fulfill here.
The team can be annoying though. I was regulary playing with Tevez last season as Rooney was barely given a chance and ended up on the wing, seems to be playing more central this season. No Giggs, Scholes etc so the team had Modric and Park in the centre for a lot of last season who could both be extremely frustrating. Ronaldo isn't as good as when you play against him. He constantly turns for no apparent reason and loses the ball, Nani is ok but Giovinco is who I like to play with out on the wing the most. Defence is solid but there are like three keepers who they rotate around, Foster, Turner and that young foreign lad they have.
Want to get all the top acheivements before seeing if I can lift Sunderland into greatness, if they put an offer in.
