So my brother's x-box kicked the bucket today. I turned it on, and then there was the red ring of death. He has had this thing for years, and someone put a sweet emulator on it (so I think the waranty is void). So, anyone know how to save the emulator and transfer it to another x-box or a 360..... or does he have to start over?
Just keep the hard drive and transfer it to another 360. Everything should stays intact that way.
Though if it's hard-modded you'd need to get another modded 360.
If it's not hard-modded it's probably still under warranty.

Not sure if it's that easy.
When I talk about his x-box, I mean it's just an x-box, not a 360. Do x-boxes have hard drives that can be taken off?
Oh, thought you meant 360.
Yeah, technically they can be transferred but it involves opening the cases, and I don't know if they're interchangeable (they should be if both boxes are chipped).
What exactly happens when you turn it on? Do you get an error or does it not turn on?
I'd just get another XBox already modded if it's bricked. I'm not sure about 360 homebrew at the moment.

There is no 360 emulation scene yet.
To change the hard drive, you'd have to take it out, un-lock it, re-lock it to the new XBox's key and then put it back in the new XBox

So you don't actually know what the RROD is.

It would be the "blinking green ring of death"..
My bro's X-box is about to go out.. It always tends to overheat after playing for a while or playing DVDs.. Never messes up while playing but when done, after being used for over 30 minutes, the green ring will blink and it won't open the disc tray.. If we let it cool down for like 20 minutes it's all good and you can play another game or change DVD's..
