Finally decided to go get a 360 and I am really digging it tbh. Picked up Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, and got Dead Rising for free as well. Still don't really like the control but it is growing on me.

So what are some must have games, especially RPGs you can think of?

Also, the best control ever would be a DS3 with the 360 style triggers and analog stick contour.

Yeah I just bought a 360 this weekend, picked up GTA 4, Bioshock and Orange Box. Played Bio for an hour but got to scurred so went to GTA 4 for now.

Supposedly THE rpg to get is Mass Effect, but Im not really into RPGs.

PS3s controllers are absolute shit compared to the 360 controllers.

Mass Effect is pretty awesome. I wouldn't call it the best RPG ever or anything, but it's a really fun game (Except for the MAKO missions, and even those are tolerable).

I dont know many RPGs for the 460 that I can recommend. I haven't played many this gen that I liked for any system. It's not so much that i don't like RPGs, but that none of them have captivated me so much this gen.

What other genres do you like in games?

Seriously, if the PS3 could use 360 controllers, I'd be sold.

I never liked the way the Sony controllers fit in my hands. The 360 controller is probably my fave since the SNES days. Even then, it's been years since I played an SNES, so it might not fit the same way anymore. If I ever get any PC games where I can use a controller, I am so getting one of those wireless interfaces. It's not perfect (I think the bumpers are too small), but I don't think I will ever find me a "perfect" controller.

The PS3's marshmallow shoulder buttons, as described earlier, kinda...Blow. I wish I could use my 360 controller on my PS3. I saw a mod for that, but I don't like to gut the shit out of stuff anymore.

Why is Mass Effect classified as an RPG?

Sure it has rpg elements, but the gameplay is of a tactical shooter.

It would certainly be nice. I mean, I'm with you on the fact that I'll never find that perfect controller. Even the 360's annoys me a bit (the D-Pad, the tiny bumper buttons...Those are the only really glaring problems I have.), but it's still one of the best out there, IMO.

Oblivion.

How the fuck has no-one mentioned this, not just one of the best RPGs on the 360 but one of the best RPGs ever.

Go and fucking buy it now.

......no, I mean right now.

I've never played Oblivion, or any other TES game.

I just ordered Fable (It's an Xbox game, but BC), because it's considered hot shit and Fable 2 is coming out.

Speaking of BC, Burnout 3 is awesome if you don't have it for the PS2 or whatever else it was on. You can even buy it as an Xbox original, but it's like 3 times the price of the real game used. Burnout 4 (Revenge?) is good too, but 3 was the peak of the series. Paradise is also good, and now has bikes. Revenge and Paradise are both 360 games, so no BC issues. Crimson Skies is also awesome. It's a plane shooter that's kind of similar to the Rogue Squadron series. It's pulp shooter fun.

Gears of War is always thrown around as a must have, but I don't strictly believe that.

It's an XBLA game, but Castle Crashers kind of is a must have if you like side scrolling beat em ups. It's a logical successor to the TMNT series, albeit with lame poop jokes. Geometry Wars and GW2 are both awesome as well.

I can't think of a lot of mainstream titles I own. I love Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. I kind of enjoyed Kane and Lynch. Rock Band/2 has dominated my recent play time.

Speaking of that, I need to pick up Warriors Orochi 2. Thanks for the reminder, KK. :y:

I have Oblivion, Mass Effect, and Fable on PC.

Also, Burnout 3 was godly indeed and I still have it for PS2 as well as revenge.

Don't have gears yet, but probably will get it soon since 2 is coming.

I have Fable 2 pre-ordered because Fable was pretty damn fun. Already have Fallout 3 ordered as well. Getting Eternal Sonata for PS3 in like 3 weeks too.

Mainly, I bought the 360 for RPGs. I got tired of Sony letting me down as far as they go. I mean, PS2 was THE System for RPGs, and now PS3 has jack shit besides a shitty port of Enchanted Arms, Oblivion, Folklore (which isn't even an RPG really), and Disgaea 3 (which is the most off the wall ridiculous strategy game ever).

I thought about getting Tales of Vesperia or whatever though.

Oh, is Too Human as shitty as reviews say it is?

Pretty much. As a fan of almost every genre they're trying to fuse together, I've got to say I was massively let down by the game. It's a dungeon crawler, but a clunky one. It tries to add in gun-fu shit like Devil May Cry or similar, but the lock on is terrible, and with a shitty camera view, you often find yourself examining the scenery as dozens of enemies are charging you. Since we're talking gun play and sword play, the transition between the two should be smooth, but it's not. Like both the guns and the melee weapons themselves. Melee action is slow, and you pause at the end of virtually every attack, as though you're waiting for an FMV "death" scene. I like Hack and Slash and I like Dungeon Crawlers to an extent, but I am readily bored by the gameplay. The graphics are decent, if dated, and you have glitches that shouldn't exist in any game this side of 2000.

If you're hard pressed for a dungeon crawler and don't mind that it's a sub-par one, then you may still want it. You level up fast, get loot every three seconds, and there's no penalty for dying except the pain of watching the death sequence every time.

Folklore was pretty bad. The one thing I liked about it was the storytelling style.

Also, just got Too Human before I read that, mainly because I like hack n slash dungeon crawlers and I need SOMETHING to hold me over until Sacred 2 or D3. Got Eternal Sonata as well because they had it for the cheap.

So, Oblivion is a first-person hack'n'slash, right?

Some good RPGs on the 360 are going to be Oblivion and Mass Effect. Last Remenant is coming out in November (another Square Enix game), and you can wait for Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect 2, and Jade Empire 2 coming out within the next year.

The best way I can describe Too Human is a poor man's God of War. Or a poor man's DMC without the style.

Basically. Since there's a bit of a lack of dungeon hacks for the 360, I'm still plodding my way through it, but yeah those three big things really get to me about this:

1. The camera is ridiculous. I haven't seen camera this bad since the PS1/N64 days.

2. The death sequence takes forever. Speaking of forever, the status effects are ridiculous too. Long after a fight is over, you'll go from full health to dead because you are on fire or all radioactive or some shit.

3. Targetting is weak.

These niggers had 10 years to work on this. What the fuck, man?

Oh, also when you die, whatever you're equipped with takes damage and can eventually break. That's the penalty for dying.

Didn't know that. Then again, you get loot so fast it hardly seems an issue.

Kinda sucks when you get an uber rare item then you die 458765 times in a row and it breaks and the next best thing isn't even half as good, tho.

Yeah, I can see where that would blow. I don't like it when weapons can break, though this is better than most of the systems. Ever play Dark Cloud, the Zelda knockoff where you had to keep hydrated and repair your weapons? Some of those weapons would die with four or five swings.

A lot of games do the weapon break system in a way that translates to EPIC PHAIL.

I wanted to like TH for the same reason you are sticking with it. I'm not HUGE on Dungeon Crawlers, but I do dig quite a few of them and was hoping that with juggling and combos, it would be phenomenal. Plus, I mean, Norse fantasy? Hell yeah.
