I was thinking, based on Raw and based on the house show I attended for ECW/Smackdown, about how Khali could actually draw...

It's not a really a new idea, considering the idea has been tossed around here for about a year. However, they really need to turn the Great Khali face. I mean, he was insanely over in Augusta, GA working against Evan Bourne.

First, have him work 1 minute squashes against heels. Nothing complicated, just have his opponent move around hoping to do the hit and run routine and ultimately just bump for him. Brain Chop, Press Slam, Khali Bomb, pin. It will cover up the fact that he is very limited in the ring and get the crowd behind him because he's tearing through the bad guys. When he faces someone who would be more of a threat (who could actually carry him.), then give him longer matches.

Second, as evident from Raw, have the guy smile. The look on his face when he came down to meet the Great Charlie really says it all. He has a sense of humor. Instead of trying to make him the unstoppable monster, make him a good natured gentle giant. Play up the fact that he's done alot for his village.

Finally, as far as feuds go, keep them simple. I think Noid has even suggested giving him a little buddy. I wouldn't do that right off the bat. I'd put him alone against Team Priceless have them lay him out for whatever reason. The numbers game can outweigh the fact that he's so big. Or have a manipulating little buddy angle. Where he goes out of his way to protect a guy who looks overmatched. Little does he know, his "buddy" is actually taking advantage of his nature and ultimately looking to make himself look better.

And Noid, I think I just out Noid-posted you... :-\

I don't think anything could make me like Khali. It's not a BAD idea though, I just don't think that this guy has any business in the ring.

Successfully turning him face at some point would be more interesting to see than anything he's done since joining the company. WWE should put him in some comedy segments every now and then, but not too many. My favorite Khali moment was when he yelled into the phone during McMahon's million dollar give away.

I'd like to see him in a tag team, but because he's so large he should probably have a have a smaller guy for his tag partner. Super Crazy could be a great choice. The guy is entertaining as hell in the ring. Let him do all the fun moves, work the crowd, get them into the match, and let Khali do the slow ass power moves.

I like the idea of someone eventually taking advantage of Khali being such a nice guy. Id done right it could actually draw some real emotions out of people. Plus it would be awesome to see Khali eventually figure things out, lose it, and then destroy everyone and everything in his path.

As you said, what you have suggested isn't very new (although I haven't seen the manipulative little buddy thing before), but it is very, very good. I want to like Khali, because he is apparently a very nice guy, and he has a very hot wife, but he is very crap in the ring. I am using the word "very" a lot. If he were good in the ring, I'd like to pretend that I disliked him (in the good heel way), but I just can't manage to make myself care because he's not that good in the ring.

Khali turning face would make him far more tolerable, and dare I say, turn him into a marketable asset for the company (well, in somewhere in addition to India, at least). Batista became so cool when he was pretty much the same enforcer he was with Evolution, he had just pulled the wool from over his eyes, showed some intelligence and quality, and turned against the bad guys with the same wrath we had been seeing for years from him. Khali turning face would roughly be the same thing, and I think once people initially care about Khali as a face, they can then care about him when they eventually turn him heel again.

Big, ugly, stupid monsters are running dry, though. I just don't find the "bully" character interesting or exciting. Smart, gentle, articulate giants are much more fascinating, so I don't know why you'd want to turn Khali into a presence you didn't want to watch, when about the only hooking factor of him is his size. It's the same thing with Big Show. There are times when he is really enjoyable as a heel, don't get me wrong, but I find him much more useful and compelling as a face character.

If they turn him face, they should do an angle where someone (Triple H) threatens to burn down his village if he loses the big WWE Title match, and then when he loses show the burning of the village "Big Show's Dad's Funeral" style.

The Great Khali standing on a mountain-top, overlooking his burning village with a tear in his eye, before he turns around and gets all dark and grumpy looking sounds like something I saw in a Tekken game once.

Khali is not going to be around for a long time owing to his injuries. It's worth a gamble.
