Yeah since I'm the greatest Metallica fan on TPWW I should be the one to start this.

Hopefully this will be full band play.
So we know that Master of Puppets is confirmed. Which songs should and should not be included.
Well I myself also a big 'Tallica fan am geeked up for it . It probably will be full band play as all music games will be from now on.

I dunno. I'll give it a chance, but Battery was one of the least immersive songs I played in RB2. I felt like I was pushing buttons more than playing along, and without the whole immersive rock star fantasy is gone, I feel kind of silly fingering a large piece of plastic.
Although DMac will certainly enjoy fingering his plastic phallus and thinking of James....

Full band is the current standard now right? They will sell copies regardless, but they would make more money if they had full band sets at 189 bucks to Metallica fans who don't have RB or GH.
Kalyx triaD

A full band set would be over doing it. Just sell the game alone and make it compatible with the instruments. Most people who'll buy surely have past peripherals.

Yes, we know, it's the worst kept secret in rock-n-roll but we're here now to finally confirm that there will indeed be an all-Metallica Guitar Hero game released in the first half (!?) of 2009. Guitar Hero Metallica allows you to play as us in either single instrument or band career game modes in your choice of some famous settings (Tushino Airfield anyone?) or new venues with in the round staging. Included are 28 Metallica songs along with a few from some of our buddies like as Alice in Chains, the Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head and Queen. There is also an all new Expert+ difficulty setting featuring two bass drum kick pedals (!!!) along with all the gameplay modes from Guitar Hero World Tour.
Over the next few months, we're going to be updating you with track listings, more features, of course how and when you can get the game, and some cool previews of the game right here on the site. As you've heard us say before, keep checking back for more details!

Funny you say that, cause I was thinking that Death Magnetic should be playable in this game. I don't think there's an interface to separate one DLC from another (but really, just have old DLC work in exclusive GH games anyway).

Game drops March 29.
Also, The music creation mode from World Tour will also be presented, giving the player the option of using tones from Hetfields' ESP Truckster guitar and Slayer's Tom Araya's ESP Bass in addition to Metallica drum sounds.
Which basically makes World Tour obsolete.

I wonder if this will have Guitar Battle vs Kirk, Bass Battle vs Robert, and Drum Battle vs Lars? Vocal Battle vs James? lol
Also, I wonder if in No Leaf Clover they will have the symphony rendered in the game, or if it will just be the song and Met playing, or taking the symphony out alltogether.
Kalyx triaD
01-16-2009, 01:07 AM
I don't think the symphony tracks would be hard to keep. It's a lot of layers (I wasn't at the mix or anything), but it could happen.
And speaking of that, why the fuck wasn't Fade To Black on that set-list? Those S&M tracks were epic. S&M Master of Puppets changed my life.

Guitar Hero: Metallica Full Track Listing
Written Saturday, January 24, 2009 by Dan Webb
Metallica.com likes to spoil all Activision's fun these days and yesterday was no different as they broke the news of the official track listing of their upcoming Guitar Hero title. When I say the official track listing, I mean every song; both theirs and their "friends."
So here is the tracklisting in its entirety that will ship with the game on March 29th in North America and some time in May in Europe:
Metallica Tracks
All Nightmare Long
Battery
Creeping Death
Disposable Heroes
Dyers Eve
Enter Sandman
Fade To Black
Fight Fire With Fire
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Frantic
Fuel
Hit The Lights
King Nothing
Master of Puppets
Mercyful Fate (Medley)
No Leaf Clover
Nothing Else Matters
One
Orion
Sad But True
Seek And Destroy
The Memory Remains
The Shortest Straw
The Thing That Should Not Be
The Unforgiven
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Wherever I May Roam
Whiplash
If you downloaded the "Death Magnetic" album for Xbox and PS3, those ten songs will play in their entirety in the full game mode. PS2 and Wii versions (coming in the Spring, most likely in early May) will include "Broken Beat & Scarred," "Cyanide" and "My Apocalypse" since they are not compatible with the Death Magnetic downloadable content.
Other Artists
Alice In Chains - No Excuses
Bob Seger - Turn The Page
Corrosion of Conformity - Albatross
Diamond Head - Am I Evil?
Foo Fighters - Stacked Actors
Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather
Kyuss - Demon Cleaner
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesdays Gone
Machine Head - Beautiful Mourning
Mastodon - Blood And Thunder
Mercyful Fate - Evil
Michael Schenker Group - Armed and Ready
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Queen - Stone Cold Crazy
Samhain - Mother of Mercy
Slayer - War Ensemble
Social Distortion - Mommy's Little Monster
Suicidal Tendencies - War Inside My Head
System of a Down - Toxicity
The Sword - Black River
Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back in Town

They claim there aren't any exclusive acts. I'm kinda pissed that the Metallica game gets a Queen tune, albeit this one makes sense. I just don't like the track list enough to bother.
On the plus side, if they marketed it for one band, there's an increased chance it'll appear on the other.

My buds disowned me for buying the 'Tallica pack last year for RB (citing its difficulty as reason), so it's safe to say I'll be rocking it alone when I get the game. Damn shame, nothing beats offline all-Expert band play but it seems me and my nephew will be the only ones jamming on the thing.

However, one drawback is that although Hetfield and Kirk Hammett are one of hard rock’s most celebrated guitar duos — and the game is called Guitar Hero — there is no option to choose between lead or rhythm guitar, limiting players to only one guitarist per band, and not allowing any Hetfield/Hammett riff-trading. If fans at home figuring out the guitar tablature to post online can do it for free, why couldn’t a wildly successful game franchise trying to create “the ultimate Metallica experience” pull it off?
FUCK. They choose now to drop that shit? I guess my hopes of future Guitar Heroes having Lead/Rhythm/Bass options on one track is shot down. And I figured this game would benefit most from it.
Time for a Hard-Worded Letter!

IGN Hands On:
- "Drum Over" mode let's you play a track with no Drum Note Chart, essentially you can provide whatever beat you want using the tracks set drum effects. And this my friends should have been in Rock Band fuckin one.
- All songs are unlocked for quickplay out of the box. Personally, unlocking songs through (co-op/single) campaign play should be one convention that remains untouched. Don't get me wrong, I fuckin love the idea!
- "Metallifacts" is a non-playable mode where the band plays while pop-up facts appear on screen. Yeah, they said it was like Pop-Up Video.

The latest Guitar Hero sold more on Wii than PS3 and 360 combined, yet it's being released for Wii later.
I also don't understand why they wouldn't have lead and rhythm guitars.
The only albums I've loved are their ones from the 80s. Black album was great, but I never got too into it. I'm surprised to like Death Magnetic as much as I do. I didn't like Load or Re-Load and St. Anger can suck my shit. I think this might be the first and only Guitar Hero game I own despite hating the fact that they're releasing way too many Guitar Hero games. One game a year should be enough.

IGN:
February 13, 2009 - Lars, James, Kirk and Robert are about to get some company as Activision announced today that Motorhead's lead singer and bassist, Lemmy, will be joining the group on stage in Guitar Hero Metallica. Gamers will be able to take to the stage as Lemmy and even rock out to Motorhead's 2008 version of Ace of Spades. According to Lemmy, "It's great to be in Guitar Hero with all these famous people and I'm really pleased to be in it with Metallica...but James is still taller than me."
Guitar Hero Metallica features the iconic band as well as 21 other musical acts. Gamers can play along with over 45 hits from throughout Metallica's catalog, as well as tunes from a range of other artists, including the Foo Fighters, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Queen. The venues will also reflect the titular band's albums covers and song themes.

It has nothing directly to do with it being Metallica, just that Guitar Hero is a poor quality series. GHII was the best, and even then, that doesn't say much.
If I remember correctly, this game will lack 'Call of Ktulu' and 'The Thing That Should Not Be'. Granted, I may be wrong on the latter, but lack of the former confirms my lack of interest in the game.

I'd just been more content with this being DLC for WT, and neither game having 'exclusive rights' to bands. There are a lot of Metallica songs I would like to see in RB, but oh well.
I'll not only settle, but be happier with, 'Peace Sells'.
Wasn't Hendrix supposed to be the next artist specific GH?

Rumor: Activision preparing Guitar Hero: Van Halen (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/06/rumor-activision-preparing-guitar-hero-van-halen/)
by Ludwig Kietzmann (http://www.joystiq.com/bloggers/ludwig-kietzmann/) { 1 hour ago }
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/03/hailin-a-van.jpg
Psst.
You wanna be privy to some exclusive, top secret information? Though it may sound like our usual brand of preposterous, blogger rabble rousing, we have reason to believe that Activision is working on ... another Guitar Hero (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero) game. It's true! Sources say that this next Guitar Hero will come out after the next Guitar Hero comes out.
...
Alright, so we have a few more details beyond that evergreen speculation. Let's switch to third-person! Joystiq has been informed that Activision's next artist-oriented Guitar Hero release will be based around Van Halen. According to Joystiq's source, the game is set to arrive sometime after Guitar Hero: Metallica (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guitar-hero-metallica) and will include several songs hailin' from the Californian rock band's catalogue, including "Jump (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmfrPrN1L_s)," "Panama (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuDUYD-sodA)" and "Hot for Teacher (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVN4meMCZUs)." You can also expect a smattering of songs from other bands, like Judas Priest's "Pain Killer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hpUx05hyHY)," Tenacious D's "Master Exploder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tHh5-W529M)" and Weezer's "Dope Nose (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNlGsOv4waE)."
Activision was unable to lend the leaked information any more credence, saying, "The RedOctane/Guitar Hero team is currently focused on the upcoming release of Guitar Hero Metallica, as well as the recently announced titles Guitar Hero Greatest Hits and Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits, and does not comment on speculation or rumor." We didn't bother asking if Creedence is in it.

GH: Aerosmith is only 25 at blockbuster now. Definitely worth it, imo, as there are a lot of fun tracks. Also, was reading a hands-on article about this game, and they said that Neversoft's charting is better than GHWT. I thought the charting in GHWT was pretty damn good, so good sign for thisgame.

Publishers choice. Most games are region free. In fact, EA, THQ and Rare seem to be the only ones left who region lock their games.
Even the great evil of Activision usually region-free their games.
Funky Fly

#BROKEN Hasney
03-20-2009, 07:29 PM
fo sho. I usually get USA releases because they're cheaper and out sooner. HDTV standards have negated the need for PAL/NTSC. The only requirement for playing an NTSC game in a PAL territory is for your TV to play PAL60.

The chart's been nerfed big time compared to GH3's chart. The first half flows nicely with the music but the bridge and solo appears overly simplified for my tastes. Not that I'll score 100% but GH3's fast parts for "One" was rewarding when you nailed it. Overall a better chart, though.

Put a new track together yesterday and it's up on GHTunes, "My Rayne". 98% complete but I'm gonna let it as it is for now.

Same as WT, some different effects, though. I can't access my tracks from WT yet I can preview them and have them play on Met. Kinda strange. Also some of the effects change as well, especially on my "The Game" cover. Ah well, probably won't update my WT tracks anyway.
Just bought it on sale for $30 shipped. Figured it wouldn't be this price till at least after GH5. Even then, it'd be more expensive if I purchased all the songs I like via DLC. Good deal, imo.

And now the site will finally play the damn thing (http://community.guitarhero.com/gh_tunes/136175). :D
Again it's not exactly the quality heard from the actual game, and I'm not too fond of the bassline being drowned out and the 'vocal tune' being so low, but it's pretty much the track. Best played on vocals, drums, and bass I guess.
Sounds like something Linkin Park would make. I like it. :y:

Then the bassline not making the upload is about right.

Already got Death Magnetic.
Off topic, I totally slayed "All Nightmare Long" today, lots of 4x periods. I also nearly FC'd No Leaf Clover - but the Drum Fill Cheat was on and I don't think the scores uploaded.
Like I just told Roxer, I never thought I'd say this. I beat the guitar career on expert. This is my favorite GH game so far. I really like how the career is laid out, how you don't have fixed sets, and can pick whatever song in the tier that you want. Love this game. What is up with James looking jacked up. :wtf:

It's all in that 'GH cartoon' look. I'm used to it by now.
I try to mimic the animation cues on stage when I play the music. 'Cause Metallica rocks (the jumping on "Fuel" is kinda tricky, though).
OMG just completed a song on Expert + with one pedal and no star power. Gonna go ice my fucking leg now. :(
One of my favorite songs to play right now. :) Just can't figure out what that theme in the middle (around 1:30) is :?:

They're so awesome.
And have you not charted your song you had us preview yet?
They're so awesome.
Oh. Yeah. For some reason I took it as they are garbage and you are above it. I'm a little tipsy right now.

You can download my track now. Actually I was kinda done for a while (sans changing the snare during the first verse). I just kept it to myself. So I guess... it's playable or whatever. Just look up "My Rayne" on GHTunes. You can also check out my other two tracks (Blue button on the preview screen).
Still, not as cool as that Turtles remix.
Any idea what that middle theme is?
Alright
My Rayne: Very simple to play, only 2 note chords the entire time. LOL @ Gold 3*, gotta be a first. Also, when there's like 3 chords left till the end, it pops up "Hot Start!", as there aren't many notes total. Thought that was pretty funny. Gotta spice the chart up, cause it's pretty boring. :D
Stop Cryin': I forget what I was going to say, other then it'd be nice to play the lead guitar, and not rhythym. During that solo, I was a little unhappy I wasn't playing it. :-\
The Game: I haven't heard that theme in years, but I think some of the sounds were off? It's been awhile, so it could just be my memory. The 4 note chords were awesome and unexpected. :y:
