View Full Version : The Next Big Bathturd is considering a return to wrestling

In a recent interview, Bobby Lashley apparently expressed interest in returning to the WWE, saying that he missed interacting with the crowds, and that his leaving the WWE had nothing to do with Kristal Marshall. What does everyone think of this?
He was boring and watered down as fuck when the WWE decided to push him as a Superman, but when he first started in the WWE, he showed so much potential. He's very similar to Brock Lesnar in size and style, and was actually quite the good worker. I wonder how much different things would have been if Lashley were pushed as a heel as Paul Heyman suggested at December to Dismember (*shudder*).
Apparently the guy has an MMA fight scheduled, though, so it might depend on how he does there. He seems to be thinking WWE for a return, but apparently he's good friends with Kurt Angle, and Angle has been trying to talk Lashley into signing on with TNA. Where do you think Lashley would be most effective?

He was tired of the endless ridicule for his speaking voice.

To be perfectly honest, it wouldn't have surprised me if it was something like that. Just the general character he was playing, really. You go out there, you're meant to be getting cheered, and the fans are turning on you, booed shitless by you, etc. It must be so awkward to play a generic hero character that isn't as accepted as it should be. And so stressful.
A much more organic and slow push for Lashley might have helped him build comfortability and rapport with the fans more.

Vladimir Kozlov seems to be the primary challenger right now. He is actually growing on me, but it seems like he should make a stop at the US Title before he works the main event. Do the stereotypical angry foreigner holding the red, white and blue gold thing. Or just make him an honest competitor from Russia who is glad to hold the prestigious championship of America.
But yeah, Jeff Hardy is in there as well. He's playing somewhat of a tweener role, taking out whatever moves. He's also wearing weirder make-up, probably intended to remind us of The Joker. He's basically angry that he keeps fucking up, and vows that he won't be stopped this time.

I've got to say, right now, I'd love to see Bobby Lashley and Matt Hardy feud over the ECW Championship. I can just see those two having a weird chemistry. Lashley should also bring out the "Drederick Tatum" gimmick from The Simpsons -- a bad-ass who talks with a polite lisp outside his fights.

God I hope he dosen't come back. The only thing with Lashley that I ever enjoyed was the hoedown picture.

I like Lashley. They just tapped him too fast, and that's hardly his fault. And they asked him to talk, which is only partially his fault.

Had they had Lashley turn heel when he had a shot at Cena, and just turned him into a wrecking ball that never said a thing, they could have salvaged him.
If he came back like that, a bitter ass kicker , it would be doable.

I liked Lashley in the ring.... Just not on the mic.

the red, white and blue gold
Does... not... compute...
Do the stereotypical angry foreigner [with Koslov]holding the red, white and blue gold thing.
Or change it to the red, white and blue of the Russian flag!?
It's a Triple Threat between Triple H, Kozlov and Hardy for Survivor Series.
Not unless Jeff beats HHH next week on SmackDown!...or are you SPOILING us Noid??

That is pretty much it. If Vince McMahon had listened to Paul Heyman, Lashley would be doing fine right now.
I'd actually like to see Mike Adamle bring back Bobby Lashley, and the two to be nice guys that no one likes. :shifty:

Amended. That's how little even I am beginning to care about SmackDown!. Also, it is a well known fact that the USA is the only country with red, white and blue on its flag.
He should come back as Barack Lashley and politic for a GM spot on SD.

Well, RAW currently doesn't have a GM...

If he was heel and played it like an ice man style, with a manager, it would work

I think Lashley is going to do fairly well in MMA. And if not, he will probably have a job in TNA waiting for him when he fails.
I think he is pretty good. Not much of a talker, obviously. But anything would be better than Fedor Drago as the lead heel on Smackdown.

Hell, he'd work great as a face if he just came in and wrecked shit.
There are two problems with Lashley, and neither are really his fault:
First, he's a hoss, and there are a lot of big-time hosses. But just as too many chefs spoil the soup, too many big guys kind of ruin the "hoss" mystique. Wayne Lashley is a talented specimen, which is more than I can say for most, but he's just a face in the crowd, so to speak.
The other one, and this is something I already said, is that WWE has this idea that all main eventers must talk. It mostly ruined Batista for me (The fact that he went from the sickest powerbomb in WWE to being a lazy fuck did the rest), it ruined Lashley for me, and it really hurt Lesnar most of the time. Lesnar still pulled it off, but I think it's because he was up against people like Angle and Eddie.
And it kills a lot of these guys, because they go from menacing badass to "you took a cheap shot...George...And I will hug him and squeeze him and love him and pat him...."
If you need them to talk, given them a manager. It works better as a heel thing, but it can work for faces, too. Just don't make everyone talk, because not everyone will have that level of charisma someone like Taker has.

I thought he was okay. I actually started to like him quite a bit for a while there. I thought he would be great if he was a heel with a mouthpeice. Unfortunately, they did the exact oppostie.
I hardly miss him, but he could have been good.
Also, I don't think Kozlov is all that bad either. He's a damn good heel. I love Rocky 4 by the way.
I see Lashley coming in as a heel and Vince turning him into the next Kane, basically making him a top level jobber fish.
