I really don't know what to call this, otherwise, but I've been checking back on the Wiki site he posted when trying to prove the PS3 was going to win the console wars, and keeping an eye on the results.
Keep in mind, DP's argument was based on the assumption that not only would the PS3 keep its lead in sales, but actually increase the margin, based on one month's spike when MGS4 came out.
Since then, the PS3's seen a loss of its lead, until the 360 started beating it in September. It wasn't by much, but then we end up in October. The 360 has nearly twice the sales in October, even with the release of the "system seller" LittleBigPlanet.
If you're a PS3 owner who's not a complete fucktard, don't be offended by this. It's not so much gloating that the 360's flipped things with the price cut as it is with mocking the logic of fanboys who want their console to "win." Think of it as a minor lesson in thought process; the outcome that DP was on about could have actually happened; the problem is in the lack of any real foundation except fanboy wishful thinking.
(In fact, I probably wouldn't be looking at or talking about the numbers, except for dp. Play what you enjoy, fuck the critics)

The idea of wanting your console to succeed [over others] is arrogant and selfish. Not to mention stupid, pointless, asinine, and counter-productive industry speaking.
DP is a cool kid, but I think he doesn't see how... high on Sony he is. He may post something that speaks of Sony's advancement and post something else that passive aggressively bashes M$ whether he knows it or not. It usually comes down to perspective, but why want one console to do well?
And though DP didn't involve himself in this; whoever got angry/pissy about Sony losing any of it's many former exclusives over the past year to the 360 is a bitch. A petty bitch. Anyway...
Yeah, I don't care who's selling the most because I don't have stock in neither brand. The best case scenario is to own all consoles but if you can't, don't bash another console because you can't afford it (my opinion on the source of the earliest and most fanboyism). Its so stupid to me. I remember being called a M$ fanboy and I'm thinking, "I really don't give a shit about 360, games I wanna play just happen to be/run better on it."

They are just video games. I mean if you are employed or getting money from one or another.
I don't really have an allegiance to any of them, I tend to wait for a consule to have a bunch of games before I get it. That explain why I went NES, Sega Genesis, N64, PS2, X-Box 360. It it silly to be all like, "I only represent Sony Products." Faggots.

Part of me wants to see Sony taken down a peg, after the shit they pulled on THREE home consoles.
But then, that leaves Microsoft as the mainstream brand, and That's probably bad for gaming, too.
On the other hand, if Sony gets their asses kicked for one generation, maybe they'll knock off the "people will like what we tell them to like" bullshit. One of my biggest complaints about Sony is the attitude that lead them to create a entertainment system with overcomplicated archetecture and a drive that would quickly become dated, charge like 800 bucks for it, and wonder why everyone jumped ship.
On the other hand, if the recent bailout, WWE, and life in general has taught me anything, it's that corporations don't learn.
On the other hand...Oh, you get the point.
I can't see cheering either on, really. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are all out to screw us. Of the three, Nintendo's probably the firnedliest set of bastards, but they're still bastards. There's not a case of a good company and a bad company, just a bad company and a worse one. Far as I'm concerned, the only real pros and cons are what the company can do for me. Last gen, I went with Sony because Sony offered me kickass games through their massive third party support. And because all my friends had one.
This gen, I'm going with Microsoft because of their kickass games through their massive third party support. And because all my friends have one, and most of the people I know online do.
Next gen, I back whichever horse looks to offer me the most. I'll probably get two consoles, but after this gen, I doubt I'm buying another Nintendo system. Still, if Sony has the biggest library, I'll go back to them in a heartbeat. Fuck loyalty, Sony wanted to brick computers of suspected pirates and Microsoft wants a proprietary computer platform they control. I don't like either company.
So this whole console war thing is a bit odd to me, outside the notion that maybe if Sony loses a few teeth in this round, they'll come back swinging next time.
Consoles are expensive, though, and so even if you get more than one, I can sort of see you wanting your investment to not have been a waste. Sony's got such a mediocre library, if it didn't have BD functionality, I'd be heading to the Sony America corporate office with a pitchfork. I think I paid 600 bucks for mine, and for that, I could have gotten an okay computer and more gaming out of it. I know some people love theirs to pieces, and that's fine.
But then we get into the whole thing where you have to be a fanboy to think a patent issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office might hold water, or that Sony isn't going to make a collossal comeback...
...And that shit's so stupid, I can't help but rub someone's nose in it...Even though it probably just serves to fuel his paranoia.

Wanna have sex with KK's brain right now.
I go for what has the best games to offer me, for my money.
I got a DS over a PSP based on price, library and system specs (PSP is more powerful, but has some issues). I'll probably get a PSp way down the line because they actually have a half decent library now. For now, fuck it.
I got a 360 over the PS3 because they had more (and better) games, better online, better pricing and no need for a credit card to make DLC purchases. The PS3 has like 10 games I want that I can't get on the 360. I'm not even that into shit like Little Big Planet. It'll basically be my Bluray player that also kinda plays games. So for now, fuck it.
I didn't buy a Wii at all because outside of like five 1st party titles, I'll never use it. Fuck it, I've got thousands of old games on my PC in emulation form, don't need this shit.
It's not brand loyalty, DP. It's customer service. All three suck for it, but it's the lesser of 3 evils, you know?

I'm not much of a fanboy of any.
I have a 360 cause of the games, online.
Wii cause it is kinda fun.
and I want a PS3 eventually cause of the Blu Ray and there are a few games I'd want to play.
But I originally sided with the 360 solely on price. Then tween the Wii and PS3... based on price... Wii won without much of a challenge. Plus I still have my PS2 so I have my Sony fix until I can upgrade it.
But I never understood fanboy stuff.

I'd probably be more of a PC gamer, except I can't get into mouse and keyboard arrangements, and I don't like having to upgrade to play almost every new game on the market. I know some games can use a controller, and that's cool, but all things considered, I'd rather play on a console.
Otherwise, I'd probably be a big PC gamer. A huge one.
The modding community is also freaking awesome. I really wish more console games and consoles would afford for that sort of thing, even if it was just optional.

I play what I like, no matter the system. I am currently being sent unrelenting emails, telephone calls and text messages to choose a side but I resist, I resist dammit!
I'm another one that has never understood the console fanboyness.
A Brief History of My Console Gaming:
NES.
Upgraded to a SNES.
Got a Mega Drive alongside it.
Then got rid of both for a PlayStation (If I remember correctly).
Got an N64 (that I still have) to go alongside the PS.
Also got a DreamCast (Which might also be lying around somewhere) making it 3 consoles.
Sold the PS and got a PS2.
Got a Slimline PS2 when the original broke.
Bought an XBOX360.
Part exchanged the PS2 a couple weeks back.
What I've noticed there is that I've skipped at least one generation of each company (since there's been 3 on the market) somewhere down the line (Saturn, GameCube, XBox, PS3). Although I have played on all of them.
So not a whole lot of fanboyishness over here. I would love to get hold of a Wii though.

One of the things that was so amusing about the prediction that PS3 sales would continue to increase was that it was completely against conventional thinking. Sometimes, going against conventions is a good thing, but you want to make sure it's done for a good reason.
I mean, the XBox 360 has seen a recent price cut. For the first time, you can own a full HD system for 200 bucks. I know it doesn't come with an HDD, but that doesn't make it less marketable. As a basic rule of thumb, cutting the prices on a system will increase sales.
Now, with neither Nintendo or Sony evidently interested in a move to counter, that puts Microsoft in a very strong position with their 360. A 200 dollar entry model, a large library, and even the higher level models are coming out much cheaper than before.
So why, then, would someone have been talking about Sony not only maintaining their lead but also making up more ground to eventually close the 6 million figure sales gap? Seems obvious that business favors the company that's cutting prices. Sony's cutting features right now. And that's not new; I wish I had known that my 80 GB didn't have hardware BC. They're trying not to hemmorhage money right now, so they really can't afford a price cut.
Again, this isn't fanboyism, it's not hating Sony or wanting them to fail, it's logic.

I have to admit I like the graphics more off the Xbox, but I hate the controlers with a burning passion, hence I have a PS3.

I love the 360 controller, and I've hated the Sony controllers since they came to the market. Not that I'd let that affect me. But the one problem I have with the 360 controller is that the battery back rubs against my knuckles.
Plus, I never thought there'd be a wireless controller on par with the Wavebird.

And it came with its own garrote.
I won't lie. One of the reasons I avoided the XBox was its controller. The main reason was the lack of games, though. There were only a couple of games I wanted, and of them, only Crimson Skies: HRTR was never available for another system.
And I think I could have even got that on PC if I had wanted to.

Wii (http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Wii) sales of 803,000 is the largest non-holiday NPD (http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/NPD) month for any console. Altogether, the video games industry (http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Video_games_industry) grew an impressive 18% year-over-year (http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Glossary) in the first month of the critical fourth quarter. After October's NPD, Xbox 360 took the lead over the PS3 in YTD (http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/2008) sales. Guitar Hero (http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Guitar_Hero) World Tour sold about 534K combining all SKUs. Wonder how DP would opt to spin this. His own source for game sales has shown Sony struggling, Microsoft improving, and Wii dominating (as we all knew it would....). There are news reports on their shortcomings, too. Or, as DP might say, "everyone's an XBot!"
Sony, by the way, is in a difficult position. They concurrently can't afford a price cut and can't afford not to cut prices. Cutting the prices on the PS3 will result in some huge financial hits for them, but it's the only way they can really stay competitive at this point, in terms of sales. Especially with better, cheaper BD players on the market now. Back when it was the PS3 or a grand, the BD drive looked good. Now I can get a better player with better features for less than half the price.
This is the problem with fanboy logic: Wanting it to be true doesn't make it so.

I got a few NES games from other relatives for my Atari 2600 back in the day.
My mum one Christmas bought me a load of Dreamcast games, an extra controller and 2 VMUs and I was like, "I have an N64 and a Saturn mum" :(. She let me stew for 6 hours until she produced the Dreamcast she bought me :p
My Mom always used to try and pull that. It was so pedictable, though, that I basically just humoured her.

December Sales. Wii dominates, selling about 3 times the PS3 and circa 1.5 times the 360. Nintendo dominates, and Microsoft continues to outdo Sony by a dramatic difference.
Sony is so taking the #2 spot.

Didn't the PSP sell better than the PS3?

PS2 damn near sold better than PS3.
Sony took a big lost this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we seen some significant in-gen revamps in the next year or so.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the last Sony console with all the money Sony's losing...
...and no, that's not a good thing

Agreed on both counts, though I don't particularly think they're doomed yet.
