View Full Version : So Matt Hardy is apparently injured again...

His surgically repaired knee is playing up, and he's apparently in excruciating pain. Working three solid matches last week doesn't help, I guess. Hopefully Matt doesn't need to take time off, but do you think he will need to rest up that knee?

Personally, I think the WWE would be better off to play it safe than sorry, and have Hardy take some time off. They could easily do an injury angle heading into Survivor Series, with Team Orton getting a bit nervous with the ECW Champion being on Batista's team, and trying to take him out.

Anyway, what do you think about the whole situation, and if you had to take the ECW Title off Hardy, how would you do it and who would you give the 17lbs of platinum to?

I would have Randy Orton kick him in the head seconds before a big match that was schedule to take place, put a random heel in to replace him and have the random heel win the match, thus winning the title. That way when Hardy comes back from injury, WWE is free to bury him someone in the lower midcard after an unhyped title rematch.

Wait, my sources are telling me they did that with CM Punk and it didn't make a lick of sence.

Pretty wild how Matt is the more injury prone of the Hardys, considering his style is not as dangerous or damaging as Jeff's style.

He's got to protect Jeff. Do you honestly expect him not to be more injury prone then jeff?

He's more injury prone because he can feel his limbs and knows when he's injured

Didn't Orton kick Matt Hardy in the head "injuring" him before?

Yeah during the Jeff Hardy/Randy Orton feud, but Matt was already out with an injury during that time.

My head is telling me that Randy Orton would breathe some credibility into the ECW Title -- especially if placed into a feud against Batista for a while (at least until Matt can return). But my heart is screaming William Regal as ECW Champion.

ECW title is a midcard title, why the hell would Orton be gunning for that when he is after the Heavywieght title? Regal is already the IC champion, there wouldn't be much point of giving him the ECW title, especially with his wellness problems. If anyone should get it, it would go back to Mark Henry or Finlay. Have those 2 fued over it, it would be a nice program.

So, you think the Hardys are a modern day Coriscan Twins??? Every time Matt hurts himself, Jeff Feels it. Every time Jeff hurts himself, Matt feels it.

Rep for reference.

The ECW Title being a "mid-card" title is not what the WWE should be aiming for, in my opinion. Technically, the belt is considered a "World Championship," and it would be nice if the WWE put it on a guy who has held at least one of the other top belts before. Orton going after the belt could be easily explained: He wants to hurt Team Batista and swing momentum to his side.

A practical benefit to this, as ECW has talent exchange programs with both RAW and SmackDown!, is that a main eventer holding the ECW Title can technically appear on all three shows, giving them a lot more exposure.

As for William Regal, he may be IC Champion now, but I feel the WWE wants to elevate him. Only they have lost the art of elevating with the IC Title. The ECW Title would be much better used for that now. Regal's wellness violations won't matter as much with the third rung of the World Title scene, and again, it allows a commodity to the WWE to appear on all three shows.

Mark Henry winning the belt back would be...ugh. I also doubt Finlay needs it right now. Maybe sometime, but not right now. I'd go with John Morrison or Chavo Guerrero before I went with one of those two.

They should just give the ECW Title to Batista. The code doesn't work if he already has a belt (see: CONTRA Code Loophole).

Unfortunately, if Sci-Fi doesn't choose to keep ECW for another year, the ECW brand might need to be amalgamated into RAW and SmackDown! programming, which might mean a title unification match somewhere. (see: CONTRA Code Loophole Loophole) :(

Looking at ECW's roster, it is an all midcarder brand, the ECW title is therefore an upper-midcard title at best. That is what it is, despite what you want it too be. Also, when real ECW was around the ECW title would have been a little higher than the ic title, but not in the same league as the WWF or WCW world heavywieght titles. Quit pretending it is something more.
