Is anyone going to see the movie?

Darren Aronofsky, director of The Wrestler, told The Tufts Daily that WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper broke down crying in actor Mickey Rourke's arms after watching the flick at a screening. "His character is really an amalgamation of lots of different characters," Aronofsky said regarding Rourke's character. "The sad thing is the more of these guys we met, the more clichés we ran into, as so many of their lives ended up a similar way. Even the guys who kept it together and have a family, etc. - they all had similar stories and all knew someone who was going through a similar thing and dealing with the physical damage that had been done to them. It was great; the other night, Rowdy Roddy Piper showed up at a screening and he loved it. He broke down and cried in Mickey's arms, so he was psyched that this story was finally told." {Aronofsky looks over a wrestler's shoulder for his latest endeavour}

What was up with that CZW trash at the start? Looks decent enough though, and will most likely be better than Ready to Rumble.

there was roh stuff in there, too. it looks like they just based the movie in some of today's indie scene.

The whole idea of the movie is that The Ram is this old broken down guy reduced to working deathmatches and high school gyms. So CZW works well.

I think that's a given considering Mickey Rourke > David Arquette

I was reading about CZW the other day to keep up with current events and what came up was that they are hoping that the film alongside a worldwide DVD distribution deal helps elevate CZW onto the next level.

The actual wrestling scenes in the movie were filmed in front of the audiences at CZW and ROH events. That's why there's CZW and ROH shit. Basically a trade off of "let us film at one of your events, and we'll put your stuff in the movie"
