I always thought he was an awesome wrestler and he seemed pretty over (to me anyway). I didn't hear much of his mic work if there was any, but what I did hear wasn't awful. His run as Hardcore Champion was amazing, as was his match against Shane-O at Summerslam.
Anyone else miss him? Anyone know what he's doing now?

He's producing the hit TV series "Bones."
No, not really. That's another Steve Blackman. I hear he's got some sort of training facility. Wasn't one of the reasons he doesn't wrestle anymore migraines?
I loved Blackman, though. Badass.

I thought he was shit on the mic, but made up for it everywhere else.

Of course, in current WWE, he'd be cutting three promos a night.
He was average in the ring, no charisma...

He had a pretty kick ass theme.
And as we all remember he outpopped DX on the RAW 15th Anniversary show.

Blackman had the personality of a tree trunk, but was a good worker. He stopped wrestling I think due to a back or neck injury.
I've heard a few times that he wanted to return. I think his training facility covers a few things; one of them being pro wrestling.
I goggled to see what he is up to, and it turns out his school is right down the road from me. It's a small world.

Pretty much the Chuck Norris of wrestling.

He never seemed to do anything, he was wasted.

Pretty much the Chuck Norris of wrestling.
The only difference is that Chuck Norris got a film and TV career with absolutely no acting ability.

THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!!
And yeah, I marked out when Blackman showed up on the anniversary show, looking pretty much exactly the same as he did when he left.

And doing exactly what he was doing when he was on the roster, in case anyone didn't see it the first time.

If I recall correctly, the only reason Blackman's time with WWE ended was because his post-concussion syndrome makes it near impossible for him to fly?

Also, him knocking Shane off the 'Tron and then jumping after him was AWESOME.

Looking online, I keep finding references to Blackman considering the same surgery Angle had and returning to the ring. That would indicate neck probs.

Blackman was gold on the mic because he was so dry that it was comedic gold. He also sounded very natural, even if it was dry. It fit his character.
By mic work, I mean his skits with Al Snow mainly. When Al Snow would be doing crazy shit and he'd snap at him, it was not only hilarious but it sounded real.
I'm not saying he set the world on fire with the mic. Far from it. However, the bits he did worked for what they were seeking to accomplish.

He was great for what he was. He had a niche and it was good. Not everyone is going to be a main eventer, some guys are cut out for mid card greatness, and there is no shame in that.

When Shane took that leap for him, he was FINALLY over...for awhile.

And that's what they should do with people, anyway. Tailor gimmicks to their abilities. So many of the ME guys are being asked to talk when they're shit on the mic or can't do the given character very well.
Like Batista. Batista should pretty much be some semi-retarded monster who talks like Rainman but dominates with retard strength when you make him mad.
Not every guy can pull of a Major gimmick, anyway, but Blackman was fine at his and fine where he was. There's a certain appeal to his role as the straight man, anyway. I loved the looks he'd give when Snow said something off the wall. Granted, he was probably asking himself why he was stuck in Midcard Hell with a guy who ate his own dog...But still....
lol you guys are ridiculous.
steve blackman is nothing. bland style, bland gimmick, cool music. he never did anything of note except for head cheese and fighting shane mcmahon that once.
the only reason he kept his job for so long is because he's friends with Shane McMahon. i dont get where all this "he was great" shit is coming from. he never did anything great. like, ever.

Fox is the kind of guy who thought TNA was "new" and "innovative" because its ring had six sides. Don't pay him any mind.
