View Full Version : SO I guess the WWE is gonna bring back "Superstars" to tv.

I personally think this is a fantastic idea and I'll tell you why.

Even though nobody really watched Heat it provided the chance for wrestlers who aren't on raw/smackdown/ecw to wrestle in front of a live crowd instead of doing nothing.

This could be the chance to get these guys who aren't used to wrestling in front of a huge crowd to do so instead of throwing these guys into the fire right away.

They probably won't and this will probably end up being a John Cenafest for an hour, but ah well.

WWE is seriously oversaturating itself. They already run five hours a week, they don't need six hours. On PPV weeks, that's 8 and a half hours. With AM RAW, that's 9 and a half hours of WWE programming in a week.

ECW is already the up and comer brand, I don't see the point in adding anything like this. I'd rather see them revive SNME properly with it running more frequently.

On the other hand, this may take the form of the later Superstars, which was basically another Livewire. I wouldn't mind that.

Well we got guys like Colt Cabana, Gavin Spears and Ryan Braddock doing pretty much nothing.

Yeah, that's why they need to start pushing ECW wrestlers to the other brands to make room for fresh blood when they get over. That should be the ECW concept.

I completely agree with both of your posts, but this makes too much sense.

Honestly, I loved it when they had like four hours of recap shows, each of which had 2-4 matches. I preferred it when Heat first debuted and we got some real stars on it, but it was fine when they scaled it back and it was jobber fest. It was fun to watch these guys on a Saturday or Sunday morning when you had nothing to do. Most of them would never go anywhere, but it exposed you to more people. However, the shows became more and more recap and less and less wrestling anyway, and that's probably what we're going to see.

I always loved Superstars and I suspect I will again. I wonder if they will have 'Iron' Mike Sharpe-type jobbers or Charlie Haas-type jobbers.

Not true, they're collecting paychecks until they're Future Endeavor'd and TNA attempts to sign them

I hope it's like WCW Saturday Night with a couple of matches and recaps of the week with every now and then something worthwhile happening. It also should have a sliding door with a fog machine for the wrestlers to come out through.

They should bring back Livewire, and have Adamle be the one who answers phone calls.

And Paul Heyman calls in to harass him.

I'll tell you why I think this is a great idea. As a kid, I loved Superstars and Livewire, because I loved the product so damn much and couldn't get enough of it.

Now, obviously, things are different. However, it's a great idea in a different way. I can keep up with the show fully without having to sit through the shit. Then, if I want, I can know what to look for in full.
It should be online.

Also, the stories they did aside from recaps were great. My favorite was when Jericho went to a Fozzy concert, and they were playing up the gimmick of him and "Moongoose Mcqueen" being different people.

All we'd get are phone calls saying John Cena is the greatest of all time and JBL is poopy.

Would these calls be coming from Joey Styles?

No, he would be calling Tazz the greatest of all time.

These phone calls would be coming from Palmer Cannon.

I remember a piece about The Big Show on Superstars where they said he was a used car salesman and he was once so poor that he would eat toothpaste sandwiches.

I wonder if it'll use the same theme from the old Superstars, anyone actually remember it?

What were the other shows they used to do around that time, I remember Livewire, Superstars and I'm pretty sure there was another one.

It'd be nice to see WWE bring superstars back to television, because currently they don't have any.

They're going to call the show "Entertainers" and get sued by this man...

Back in my day they employed wrestlers. They paid 'em a nickel a hip toss.
