I can not take anybody seriously with that thing. It has ruined so many moments just because the belt looks fucking stupid.

I gotta agree there.

I've given up hope that it will ever be replaced. I kind of understood that they kept it when Cena lost it to Orton on Raw because it sells well. But when the belt got switched to Smackdown in the draft I thought for sure it would be changed. It does take away a lot of the title's prestige for me. The World title looks more prestigious to me because of the WWE title's look, yet the two are supposed to be equal.

I have made belts that look cooler then that shit.

It doesn't spin anymore, I don't think, bcuz that WWE Symbol hasn't moved in a while. I've adapted to it, however the Undisputed Championship/ Last WWE Championship was Bad Ass, I don't see why they changed it. The guy who designed the Spinner belt explained to RAW Magazine that it fits in today's pop culture. Remember everybody it's not what we WRESTLING FANS like, it's what MARKS like. But thank God that the World Heavyweight Championship hasn't lost its Sacred Value.

I don't give a fuck what Paul Wall thinks is good for WWE.

They are equal. Both are borderline devoid of prestige, even in a fake sport. You may not like the appearance, but I doubt it matters in the average Joe's eyes.

I think it does matter in the average joe/jane's eyes. My girlfriend watches wrestling occasionally and is always known for point out shit that we've been thinking all along but have never talked about and she pointed out how ridiculous that belt looks. She asked something like "How come all of the other belts look normal but that belt looks all iced out? Looks kinda stupid"
I agree also, it really makes no sense. Cena had a belt made for him and when he loses the belt is still passed on? Seriously, what? Did Austin's Smoking Skull belt get passed on after him? (And don't bring up the Rock stealing it. Not the same)

Gotta agree with everyone. Annoying that its kept around for merch value. Annoyed me even more when the latest SvR game wouldnt let you change it back to old style. Now everyone is stuck in spinner land on the game too.

But back then, WWE wasn't hurting for sales in merchandise. Now they are, and that's why they keep it.

Right, but they aren't even associating the belt with Cena anymore so it isn't really even helping merch sales at this point. It's just confusing people.

Now that's a belt that made me think 'wow, you are truly the best if you hold that championship'. These days holding the WWE title just looks like a prop more than an honour that's been earned and makes you look the best in the business.

Hopefully Jeff can change that. Highly doubtful though.

Jeff holding it at all makes it look pretty silly, imo.

It sells well. Kids love it. It may look stupid to your girlfriend, but it's popular with the "urban" culture that everyone's trying to court. So unless your girlfriend's a wigger, I'm not sure it matters. I think it's dumb, too, I think it's cheezey and chincy, but that shit sells really well right now, and WWE is all about that sort of shit.

Point Proven.
Read most of my posts over the last 1-2 years...I only say this over 3 dozen times.

I think the purity of evil, the Lord of Darkness himself, Undertaker, wore it during his 99 title reign.
But regardless, the current belt obviously looks pathetic.

I was pretty excited about the prospect of a change when Triple H took it to SmackDown!, or when Edge won the title. But nay.
I haven't had a good look at the belt since it's gone over there, but it's still got the red jewels that were added to the belt when it was on RAW, doesn't it? Does it still have the "Mon-Nite-RAW" panel on it? If so, that's just ridiculous. Actually, it was always ridiculous. Who wants to hold a belt that says your the best in the world in the same breath it says "Mon-Nite-RAW?"
It really does need to change.

Yeah I had hopes of a change when Trips won it too.
To me, it always reminds me of one of those cheap, fake gold & diamond rings you used to get out of a gumball machine as a kid.
Not saying it LOOKS like a gumball ring, just cheap & nasty like one.

The sad thing about it is that it probably cost more to make, and is worth more, than any of the previous WWE Championship designs. Part of me thinks that may be why the WWE doesn't want to just cast it aside.

He should have introduced a new belt when he won it. Had a massive celebration and ceremony, with pyros, streamers and a sexy new belt being unveiled. Chavo Guerrero could have brought a mariachi band as his gift for the WWE Champion.

The kids love the bling belt. As long as WWE is trying to promote their product towards a younger crowd the bling belt stays.
Albeit I think it's pretty gay.

I'm surprised they haven't done more unique faceplates for the spinner. Imagine how that would sell.

Actually, they need to make either a "fantasy" series or give more people the spinner belt. They've already lost a couple big chances....RVD's "smoking" spinner belt with yin yang symbol, Triple H's plate, complete with spinning Nazi cross (wait for it), etc. Imagine a Jeff Hardy spinner plate that glows in black light. Perhaps an sXe spinner belt for heroin addicts. A Batista "Animal" plate (That probably breaks every couple of rotations), or an Undertaker "Phenom" plate. A Kane Mask spinner (or a Kane Mast Tattoo spiner for Fo Fiddy). A Hurricane spinner. Hell, make a Val Venis one where the plate looks like a rotating bed.

Even better, they can repackage it for half the undercard.
