Boondock Saints.

I don't get what is so special about this movie. It kinda sucked dick, in my opinion. It was a Tarantino wannabe, but not nearly as good. The story was a mess. I was like, what the **** is this. I DUNNO MAN.

I can see why a lot of people wouldn't like that movie. It is amazing, IMO. It's in my top ten of all time probably.

Why didn't you like it? Tell me why you thought it was overrated.

It was just dumb...

Sandler's acting didn't fit the movie...and the plot seemed mad random.

It's like "Look, I bought a shit load of pudding, now I'm following some chick to Hawaii" ...what?

Also, Adam Sandler sucks.

Sandler's acting didn't fit the movie? What are you talking about? The movie was written just for him. His acting was perfect for the movie.

And yes, it was a weird movie. Not for everyone, but that's what makes it better than all the other bullshit out in theaters. It was different.

Just kidding, but the movie was written before Pulp Fiction even came out. There was Reservoir Dogs, but that really got no mainstream attention until Pulp hit big. The story is pretty simple really. IMO, it could have been improved upon. But I DUNNO. It really is a like it or don't movie I think. You seem to have rather good taste, so I respect your opinion.

As for the topic, um......wtf, I can't think when I need to about this, but when I don't need to, I can. Ahh. Blair Witch Project I guess. It sucked royally. It was different, but that is no excuse for being a crap movie.

Boondock Saints is my fave movie of all time.

But the most overrated movie of all time would have to be A Clockwork Orange.
All it was, was mindless violence and raping. It was awful.

In nimine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti

I also feel Traffic is pretty overrated. Not that it was bad, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of his other stuff and didn't see what the praise about it was.

OH, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yes, the original (the remake is even worse). Such a shitty movie. I guess it was good for its time, but when you watch it today, wow it is really pretty shitty.

Boondock Saint
03-25-2004, 02:23 AM
I enjoy TCM, but the remake does indeed blow huge.

i thought donnie darko was pretty overrated. It was decent, don't get me wrong but I don't get why everyone loves it so much. It seems to be a case of "ALSKDLKSAF I don't know what the f</>ucks happening, so it must be awesome"

TheNamelessOne

Lord Of The Rings - I loved all 3 movies, but when you have people constantly talking about how they are the best movies of all time, it pisses me off.

The Matrix - Liked the first one, ditto the second, hated the third. To hear people say "Its the modern Citizen Kane" really pisses me off too.

The Lord of the Rings, ESPECIALLY the 3rd one, which almost redeemed the trilogy had it not been for the horrible self-congratulatory, gratuitous, pompous ending which was stretched out about 45 minutes too long with about a dozen possibilities on which to conclude without dragging the story on for an agonising length.

Overrated or overexposed? If a movie is great and everyone thinks it's great it tends to get the term "overrated" but an overrated movie is a movie that isn't good that the general consensus thinks is good. Lord of the Rings, Scarface, Requiem For A Dream? Almost all of the movies you mentioned AT LEAST hold lots of artistic merit. They're not BAD movies.

The most truly overrated movies ever are the Matrix movies, including the first one [just not nearly as much]. Reloaded aside from sick action scenes was pretty bad, and Revolutions is seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I've seen Cats and Dogs.

Lots of people I know rave over Signs, but I thought "whatever".

The idea that the aliens are vulnerable to water is gay. Wouldn't they get hurt just for walking around our water-ladden atmosphere? And the alien trying to kill the boy by spraying that shit in his face. Why wouldn't he just tear his head off if he really wanted to kill him?

In short, that movie was WAYYYYYYYYY overrated.
