View Full Version : Help me decide on a new MP3 player. (Dear Tech Forum)
I am sick of iPods. I have had 2 that have both failed. I am pretty clueless about what other products are available. I want something with at least 60gb, and able to play both mp3s and video.

Get a Zune my man. Or an iPod, I hear those are so great ZOMG! LOL!
Yeah I was thinking of a Zune. Price is about the same as an iPod, no?

One I viewed the other day in Wal-Mart was cheaper by a few bucks actually.
I have like $200 in Wal-Mart cards, so it has to be from there. I will check out the Zune next time I go.

Jesus man, Its a Zune not an iPod. That will more then buy one.
My problem is I use iTunes. This will just throw everything off. :(
Well, have fun with your DRM-laden shit. You can only play iTunes-bought content on iPods (assuming they're not the non-DRM version).
This is what happens when one company puts a stranglehold on a market.
Of course, if you just want to use the software and don't care about the store it won't matter and you can just use other software, but I don't know why you'd use iTunes in that instance...
I do not buy music. I use the app to manage my songs and play them. And I have iPods.
Then there's no reason to use it, even if you do have an iPod. There are plenty of alternatives out there.
I am happy with iTunes. I do not see why everyone hates it. I like my iPods too, when they worked correctly.

Yeah, don't use iTunes. iTunes is shit.
You guys are telling me what not to use, but not what I should be using.

For organizing your music, and just as a media player, use foobar2000. You can download all kinds of amazing skins for it, and it has a small footprint compared to most other media players.
Anything that doesn't use a proprietary transfer system (MTP, whatever iPods use, etc).
Can't name any off the top of my head, but it's the best bet.
Maybe it is time I changed media apps. All of my videos are porn, but I don't watch them and just go online for it. I should delete them and switch to a music app. I think I will do that.

As for transferring music, I'm not sure what alternatives there are to iTunes to transfer to your iPod, but I know they exist.
Doesn't matter, I no longer use them. I cannot stand listening to music in just one ear.

I use my phone. I also use it for a GPS. A phone is not a computer so technically I can't help you.
Unless this was a tech forum...
iTunes makes you computer SSSSSSSSSLLLLLLooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOoo...w!

DRM is Digital Rights Managment - it's like MP3 copy protection, and like CD/DVD copy protection it is useless. It is supposed to give the "owner' of the files control over how often it can be transferred to a device, how often it can be burned to CD, etc - like I said it's useless and does none of these things.
